Yup, I was into the heavier stuff back in the day, but Cinderella was one of the few standout hair bands of the day, for sure and I listened to them and owned their stuff.
I have known about the existence of Cinderella all my life. And literally a month ago I accidentally watched a fragment from the famous hit Nobody's Fool and from the first seconds I realized that Tom Keifer is incredibly gifted and a superstar. Magnetism and talent. Look, eyes, impossible to tear yourself away. Unique vocal, musician. You can watch endlessly and admire. Now my favourite Tom Keifer and Cinderella 🔥🎸🌟

Tom Keifer is an amazing vocalist N' songwriter. I've got a sticker on my school laptop at the front near the keyboard so I look at cinderella (N' poison) everytime I open it up. I know Tom had problems with his vocals N' luckily found someone who diagnosed him. I think I heard him say that when he was taking guitar lessons, his teacher also taught him to sing so it was a music lesson he took while not only learning guitar but singing N' learning songs. Can you do an isolated vocals of Jani Lane from Warrant or Sebastian Bach?
What an excellent analysis! Amazing to have these isolated vocal tracks. I'll be watching every one of those videos. The adversarial relationship between metal, hair-bands, and grunge needs to be put to rest. You can pick individual performers out of each genre and they're all doing the exact same thing, especially the singers. I think us gen-xers, under the influence of the grunge scene were settling into a darker, flat-out depressive, state of mind. We had also already lived through the hair band era. I know I'm not alone in loving all of them and much more. We grew up listening to absolutely everything! I had a girlfriend in the mid 90's who chided me for listening to Motley Crue! They were decidedly un-hip in her opinion. I mean it's hard to listen to Vince Neil these days, but in the mid 90's? It was some awesome track off of Shout at the Devil or Too Fast for Love too. It actually got to me. But, I didn't stop playing the Crue or anything else. unless I got sick of it. Now, I'm buying up my "childhood" via CDs and even cassettes! Twisted Sister, Cinderella, Soundgarden, Tool, Ozzy and on and on. I appreciate the gems like Cinderella now, far more than I ever did at the time.
I was just listening to a live version of Nobody’s Fool, and I saw this video. That sounded great. I really like the way you sang different parts of the song. It’s interesting to hear it isolated. You can appreciate the different tones even more.
I think he had an operation on his throat, doctors said he wasn't going to be able to sing again, he proved everyone wrong. He was very underated , what a great band!
He ended up having 7 surgeries. Check out his video 'The Death of Me' on his new album RISE! It tells the story of what he's been through. What an amazing man!
I found your channel after my YT Music pulled up some suggestions for Poison, Skid Row, Cinderella, and so on. I wondered - just what *is* that gravely, nasally, vocal-fry-ish - called? Of course, I don't intend any insult by any of those adjectives, but I don't know the appropriate words to describe it. It's like a blend between the power of Sebastian Bach & the nasally gravely quality of Brian Johnson. The crisp enunciation is something you don't notice with the music, too. This method shows how important that is to not get lost in the music. Whatever it's called, it is so unusual in all the best ways & I love it! Thank you for your work in isolating it so it can shine as much as it should on its own! I look forward to checking out your other content!
I don't know why they keep saying underated. When Cinderella took the stage up to lower mid 90's the band blew people away from start to finish. Like a movie you didn't want to end to millions of people they were that great in their talents.
Hi Ken. I am having so much fun listening to these. As a HUGE rock fan, hearing these isolated vocals and your teachings and knowledge puts such a unique perspective on the rock songs I know and love. I also like the techy talk, you discuss how the songs are mastered with the producers.
I hear an Axl Rose thing going on, before Axl hit the scene. If Cinderella wrote some more songs at the same level of caliber as this one, they would have been much bigger. Under rated singer.
I’ve always wondered how Tom does what he does, and this helped. I think there’s a bit of a throaty growl to a lot of what Tom does as well. I love Cinderella and Tom Kiefer. Thanks for the breakdown
I always loved Tom Keifers vocals, but sometimes it sounded like he was shredding his vocal chords to get that cool sound, and it turns out he was. But he still performs after all kinds of problems. Respect.
I always wondered that myself too, lol. But he can still do it to this day. All that's changed is how often he does it vs. back then. So I think maybe he did some damage to it, but not as badly as you might figure, yeah, so props to him, I think it's great.
Just heard him the other day on a video and although he doesn't hit those high raspy notes as often as back in the day, he still has it and still tries. And he does still do it in the most important times in the songs, when it counts and it sounds relatively the same.
Wanted to thank you Ken for putting together some fantastic videos! They are definitely helping hone my voice and sound, as well as protecting it. I am the lead singer of a Canadian rock band called Echosphere. Just had our first gig about a month ago have one for the 23rd of Oct. Loving it! Again thank you so much for all you do Ken!
I have sang this song in karaoke, I was actually in a Battle Of the Bands in my city singing this song, but I can never belt it out like Tom. I try. I have a very soft voice, soft spoken girl, but I cannot get that chorus. I'll keep working. Tom Keifer is a huge influence to me. All of Cinderella

I might. Rock on!
Thank you for the tips!
You bet!
Rock on!
Gypsy road is my favorite song from this band
Rock on!
great one. Big fan of toms voice and cinderella in general. thanks for doing this one.
I hear an Axl Rose thing going on, before Axl hit the scene.
If Cinderella wrote some more songs at the same level of caliber as this one, they would have been much bigger.
Under rated singer.
Thanks for the thoughts, John!
Tom is also a great lead guitar player
didn't know that way way back then
thnx for show how much an effect reverb has
that was cool dude
Tom still sounds great to this day despite all his voice has been through..
Always love me some Cinderella. When ACDC had Rose singing I was pissed it wasn't Tom.
Rock on!
Love his vocals! He went through hell getting his voice back after vocal paralysis.
I remember this tune from way back when, lol...
Britny Fox was another as well!
I have sang this song in karaoke, I was actually in a Battle Of the Bands in my city singing this song, but I can never
belt it out like Tom. I try. I have a very soft voice, soft spoken girl, but I cannot get that chorus. I'll keep working. Tom Keifer is a huge influence to me. All of Cinderella
Huge fan of Cinderella, great video as always!
Some more Survivor (Jimi Jamison) would be fun to see in the future!
Keep it up, Ken!
Thanks, Alexi! Appreciate the listen!
Been listening to Cinderella a lot lately,Tom has a great voice,😎
Definitely a unique voice ! Glad you mentioned Scorps ! Laughed out loud when you channeled your inner Barry White ( "You can tell I have a really low voice" ). I too lost my parents young. Miss em also. Sucks. Sincere condolences, yet we know where they are ☝👍< Thanks for sharing so much !!! 🎶
Thanks for the thoughts!
