I was somewhat in the same boat. I ended purchasing the 1200. Same thing here. Almost went with what so called cork sniffing “reviewers” recommended. Folks who are used to review higher ticket amps like the accuphase and luxman forget to put in perspective the price vs value of these amps like the Yamaha. It’s like saying Chevy Corvette cars are not good because a Ferrari Monza is better. Yes but who is your intended audience? The few millionaires watching or the overwhelming amount of regular people who aspire to own a system that invokes a sense of owner’s pride while sounding great. The A-S2200 is such amp.
I am recent owner of the Yamaha AS2200 still in the first week of break-in. Yes this is a high end performance and price scale but is worth the dollars asked. For my level of audiophile experience, it sounds amazing. I started with much humbler equipment and all sounded good for their cost. Just buy what you can afford but only after careful listening. Enjoy what you have and continue to aspire to better pieces as you can afford. Used pieces can be rewarding. Music reproduction is going to be a compromise whatever the price point so always compare reproduction music to the live sound only since the untimate is unattainable.
No truer words were spoken and great advice. I think what we get wrapped up in this hobby is to try and find a perfect sound. You are correct listening to gear will help you find the sound reproduction you like and at the end of the day it’s all about escaping into our favorite musical experience. Thanks for watching!
If this amp proves to be reliable then it’s a good choice regarding value. I considered it or the 3200 but concerned about reliability of its potentially over sensitive protection circuit that has been reported. I’m nearing on pulling the trigger on a Accuphase and Audiovector speakers but that’s over 30k for just 2 components. Pretty crazy I know.
Thanks for the comment. I think this helps the group. I have read that and was personally concerned myself. To me those having issues seemed to be on the 3200 other than a few people commenting that’s all I know. If it helps. With the 2200 I was using it with Wilson Sabrina’s that dipped down to 2.6 ohms and I never got it to go in protection mode. I didn’t blast it but definitely rocked out on occasion.
The title is wrong my friend. When you talk about a budget amplifier, it can't be about an item that costs four thousand dollars! Maybe "budget" means something else to you...
Thank you for the comment and part of me agrees, it is crazy how some of this gear has become so expensive! I suppose its relative, its budget compared to a 20k piece! If it helps give you a reference I ended up selling the as2200 for around $2k so that may help as well to find a nice pre-owned piece. Thanks for watching!

Delayed gratification is a an all too necessary and increasingly rare facet of the hobby & life.

A budget amp! Are you insane?

I agree with you. All of these have gotten expensive and I should have clarified on budget in this realm of integrated.

in high-end world $4k is not even entry level. Now entry level starts at $20k or $30k. Totally nuts but that's the way it is.
@@takemeoutside4235 What did you get instead? It looks like you didn't have it long enough to even burn it in...
