My experience is the same. I was successful once with kiwi but I had to keep tight control of the growing environment and only 1 baby grew into a mature plant.
That's pretty good going- i've never had one grow bigger than what's in the video😅😅 Kiwi, haworthii and tabuliforme had almost 80% of the leaves grow leafbabies, but keeping them going to mature size has always been a massive challenge for me too 😅 They really don't like the hot aussie summer when they are that little..
I've probably tried 50+ aeonium leaves only to see them shrivel to a crisp shortly afterwards. The fact that their leaves are so thin might also contribute to the propagation difficulties. Thanks for sharing your experience. 👍
Yeah, they are just not worth the effort... I've tried many times over the years with almost no success. Even if some leafbabies grew, they'd die over the summer month. See how the ones that came up this time go during the hot summer we're about to have 😅
Ok, please keep going with the leaf babies you got. I want to see how the do in the fall. Maybe they will pick up on the growth. I didn’t email because no leaf babies for me in my attempt. Come to think of it, pretty sure o threw out the leaf and didn’t even recognize that it was my aeonium attempt. 😂. Can you tell me how they did under plastic wrap vs exposed? Also, PLEASE attempt this again in the Fall! I think this one you started in your Spring, that really is a big factor in your experiment that could not be controlled for. Thank you for doing this because it is always on my mind when it comes to these beautiful aeoniums!!
Yesss, will definitely keep them going to see if they pick up again once it gets cooler 🙂 I have high hopes for haworthii and Sunburst as they have the most roots. Kiwi doesn't look all that happy- the yellow variegated bits are starting to burn, even under shade cloth 🙁 The leaves under plastic really did not do well- some even got attacked by fungus and the larger varieties like arboreum just went yellow and died. I stupidly chucked them out when i saw the fungus and forgot to take footage 🤦♀ I really think just having them sit in a tray until leaves/roots appear is the best. I'll try again in April which is mid-autumn for us. I took these off in June (start of winter) as last fall was unseasonably warm and none of the Aeonium were really waking up until June when it got pretty chilli. I thought 5-6 months would be plenty of time for them to get going 😅
@@SucculentGrowingTips yeah who would think they would take that long?! I can’t wait until April to get an update! So good to know about the plastic and fungus. Maybe take the burning babies inside? If with hade cloth it is too much sun for them or hide them under other plants or shelves. I hope they make it!!! I’m really invested in it! 😂🥰 Great job, I know this has taken a lot of work to do and film and edit! I hope you have helpers!
I'm so invested as well- esp. with the little Kiwis & the one Sunburst 😅 Before i'd just leaves them to it without giving them any special treatment (they all 💀) but i've now put them under 70% shade to see if that will make them happier. Really hope they survive 🤞🤞@@GenRN
Hello! I gave Schwarzkopf leaf a go! I’ve put it on top of moist soil and I’ve placed the pot with a jar of water in a transparent bag for some extra humidity. Im in the U.K. and temperatures rarely went above 20C since I’ve gotten the leaf couple of months ago. A little florette has formed now, which is very exciting! On the other side, towards the soil is some sort of a ball, but no roots yet. Your leaves seem to have formed roots first then florettes. This is all very exciting! Do you think I might get lucky and actually grow a baby Schwarzkopf?
Ooo, that is so exciting!! Well done! I think you may have a good chance of getting a baby Schwarzkopf in the UK thanks to your cooler temperatures. If it's not too much bother, pls keep us updated 😀
I have been waiting for this video since the last one!!! I had to comment before even watching! 😂
I've been meaning to do it for a while but thought i'll give them a bit more time to see if they grow anymore.. They're definitely all dormant now 🥲

That’s one thing I wasn’t able to accomplish 😊thanks for sharing 😊
It is pretty difficult. Thanks so much for trying 💚

I had success with two Kiwis
That's great!😀 Did you manage to get them to grow to a full plant? Mine always throw out loads of leaf babies but never make it through summer.😔
