At least Famicom has some original vertical shooter(s) coming up in a couple years that don't have to worry about being compared to an arcade game with superior visuals.
I never got around to this one although I did play an ISO of the PCE CD sequel. wow that 3rd boss sounds like a gigantic pain! regardless probably one I'd seriously consider tracking down.
Background music in this one is almost on par with a Frankenstein game, hilariously ear-piercieng tunes. As for the game itself, yeah, there'll be one amazing shmup by ASCII later in 1990, way better than Image Fight.
The only things to come from ASCII are horse racing, baseball, a board game similar to Monopoly, and one not especially good RPG. No shoot-'em-ups at all. There is an era of spectacular Famicom shoot-'em-ups to come, in fact I've recorded episodes on HAL and Compile's entries to that list.
@@RndStranger i do think that this RPG is a hidden gem (if we're talking about the same one) :D Oops, my bad. ASCII published the game in US. In Japan this one was released by Tonkin House.

@@romannikonenko7325 It's definitely an RPG if you like weird mechanics. Also, baseball because of course there was baseball.
6:17 - That is an odd looking cockpit. Looks more like an elongated jelly bean than anything you'd climb into.
oh my god that boss is the final boss of fantasy zone but worse
