Hey Mic, I disagree. Prior to this year, Nylyssa was a borderline all-star.... she averahed 15 pts and 9 boards a game. 2nd, I don't think w management would want any pick outside 1 or maybe two this year. More often than not, 1st rd.picks are on the end of the benched or cut in the W, so why would dallas want 3, 10 and midling player from chicago for sato? I will go as far as to say, dallas would not make a trade with Chicago unless Kamilla or Angel Reese is a part of it. And to make a trade with NY, I would need fieibich or satiu little sis to even pick up the phone.
Bad players on bad teams get more opportunities they still lost way more games than.they won with her in a featured role. She is garbage and one issue is she is not in shape and never has been to my mind. Big, slow and clumsy because she is over weight. An injured Nalyssa will do more good for the Fever than a healthy Nalyssa will. That's one way of keeping her off the floor.
A suggestion for a CC-related video for you, Mick. I read an interesting article on the ESPN website yesterday (Steph Curry and the NBA's Most Confounding Paradox) about Steph Curry, and part of it focused on the intensive defensive attention he has to cope with and his thoughts on the subject. He's the only other player who is defended like CC in pro basketball, and they have similarities in their games and in their physiques relative to other players, so it might be an interesting topic to reflect on. I'm assuming we'll see the same intense defense on Caitlin next year. Just a suggestion.
I don’t think Satou would want to go to the Chicago Psychopaths if she wants to win a championship. I’m starting to think we need to move on from Satou because she is injury prone.
@@kylewarren8065Not sure what you mean, it’s clear to me they’d likely just shift Laney Hamilton to the bench and Satou would play SF..doesn’t seem all that complicated to me…
Indiana shouldn't trade for Satou. Satou has only played more than 1/2 her games in 1 season in 4 years. They should keep the pick and draft Annika Soltau, Aneesah Morrow or Ajsa Sivka in that order if avialable.
I have a WNBA question for Mick or anyone else here who is aware of the rules regarding core designation. I was researching Elena Delle Donne, thinking about a veteran replacement for NaLyssa Smith if Satou falls through. She was cored before the 2024 season and sat out the entire WNBA season rather than playing for the Mystics. I thought that would mean that she would now be a free agent in 2025. But I found a story stating the following, which sounds like a _'restraint of trade'_ in forcing a player to play for a team they DON'T want to play for any longer. Thoughts? _"The Mystics placed the core player tag on Delle Donne, which limited her options. The core designation gives the Mystics exclusive negotiation rights with Delle Donne after the one-year supermax contract expires on March 7. If Delle Donne misses the entire 2024 season _*_but wants to return in 2025, the Mystics can use the core designation on her again._*_ "_
I always thought Satou to the Fever would be complicated at best. Smith injured only complicates is further. Having said that, if Satou has let the powers that be know she wants to go to the Fever, it is possible. Satou is likely the only player in the W right now who could make the trade to the Fever happen if she wanted it. Either way the Fever will be fine. Next year, however, the Fever will have enormous trade power with a lot more high value players desiring to be on The team in the W.
Do you think theres any chance they can get elena delle donne to come back to the w? I don't know what's up with the mystics contract just curious because shed be a great asset option? Or can you cover all the potential euro options?
Mick. Before this season a good amount of her points came from the midrange. She definitely has a face up game. She's not just a back to the basket post player. Also the injury isn't that serious. The first 2 seasons of her career she had ankle injuries and they're taking precautions not to irritate the ankle further. She'll be playing again by the preseason.
@@gordongrant444 Ik she doesn't fit the Fever. But my point is he doesn't know her game because she was a literal shell of herself last season. She's not a bad shooter or defender. That's literally what got her the #2 pick in the draft. And her gf has nothing to do with anything.
Mick, you could have waited until you knew about Nalyssa's injury. There is a huge difference between an ACL and a sprained ankle; in terms of when she can come back. Until then, all speculation around Fever decisions are useless.
What is this now? You want to basically claim that Satou's going to NYL for a while: They don't have the money to make that work with Stewart, Laney, Sabrina, Jones, and then adding a core max contract for a 1 year rental of Satou. They literally won't be able to afford having 11 players if that happens. People want to "suggest" that Stewart will make minimum wage, or something. lol. Now, you're claiming that Chicago is going to trade for Satou? Chennedy Carter is RFA. Micheala is RFA. They might have the "money" for a core contract, but the lack of a talented roster wouldn't make any player want to go to Chicago. Chicago's Number 3 and Number 10 (which is a somewhat bad draft anyway) is useless because this isn't the NBA where lottery picks are valued as heavily. KC and AR + whatever 3 players they put around them would likely be an awful team. They're losing 2 to 3 bench players that have upside because those are free agents. Literally no player on the roster is someone that Dallas would even want at all. Williams is too old. Draft picks are not a reliable future endeavor unless they are number 1s. It just isn't going to happen from Satou's camp that doesn't even consider Chicago as a trade destination. Chicago might trade for Jewell because those two teams actually need to work on roster improvements.
Satou is savvy. Like Aliyah, she's managing her brand well with an eye to her post-W career. If she can broker a deal that lands her next to Stewie on the court, that might be her best move. And she'd be in the Big Apple.
Ny has the pieces Dallas would want to make the move... the question is the combination of players and picks they can offer to make the deal happen. If I'm dallas, give me fiebich, lil satally, and a 1st rd pick you can have satou. ..
Smith has a 3 year $226,668 contract with one year left ($91,981 dead cap value). Dunn hung on to Smith at the trade deadline before the playoffs when straight trades might have been possible with teams not making the playoffs. In 2 playoff games against the Connecticut Sun, Smith scored 0 pts with 4 rbs, 1 blk, 1 stl, 2 tovs in 13 mins played. Let's say that again; more turnovers than points and played a total of 13 minutes. Smith also tanked in the last two games against the Sun during the regular season. Releasing Wheeler and Smith will cover Smith's dead cap along with one other player who doesn't have a core value contract (or possible straight trade). With 3 draft picks to sort and/or sign to rookie contracts, strategic releases, and massaging the new cap for 2025, Indiana can roll with 11-12 players on the roster and make more moves once the new CBA comes out in 2026 for quality role players in the Euro. Time to move on or remained trapped in a Lin Dunn roster time loop. Will Indiana talk talk talk championship or make hard decisions they can control like releasing players and making thoughtful draft choices. I have talk talk talk on my bingo card.
