The Shopkeep has an exchange with Sylvia about how he prefers being at work as it feels more like a home than his actual home does which counteracts what Sylvia had been arguing about when she dehumanizes adjusting people from their timeline to work at the TVA. This could be a metaphor for why people like Mobius have preferred their TVA lives instead of their timeline ones, they feel more at home at the the TVA.
It was so sad to see O.B reduced to being an unsuccessful author because he was still so happy despite not selling anything and getting kicked out of the library.
In regards to OB’s creation of the TVA, he said that he learned everything from Kang. But in these current set of events, he learned everything from his own book that he himself wrote, which means this OB learned everything from himself instead of Kang. Aaaand that means that we are not looking at the same set events that led to the TVA we saw in season 1. That is, unless, Kang did actually wipe OB’s mind along with everyone else’s, and then retaught OB himself, which would allow for the current set events to be the original set of events all along. Some trippy stuff
Yeah I believe it is the latter. Or a variation of that. I didn’t buy for a second that he learned everything from Victor Timely when they said that in S4. It was so fishy to me. Because Victor Timely only existed because He Who Remains backup plan to have Ravonna give him the book.
I liked how Mobius’ sons had two different coloured shirts. Kevin had the orange, similar to the TVA jumpsuit font colour and Shawn had the dark aqua colour, similar to “Don”’s job uniform. Also the jet skis were both in these colours
12:36 Extra trivia: For anyone wondering the song used when Mobius was pretending to ride a jetski, it was "Thunder in Your Heart" by John Farnham, but also covered by Stan Bush.
The TVA automation announcement (detail #2) reminds me of the story of "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury, where the house is automated to do the same tasks every day, even after the family is all dead after a nuclear explosion/catastrophe of sorts. Great story (my personal favorite) out of the Martian Chronicles. EC Comics did an issue of this story! (WEIRD FANTASY no. 17)
As soon as I saw Mobius on his Jet ski, I burst out laughing. 😂 I have never felt so prouder and so satisfied. Whatever happens in the future for Marvel, Loki will forever be amazing. Also, it was so wholesome seeing how far Loki’s grown to the fact that he has friends that he’s willing to fight for.
This episode was groundbreaking. Showing what all the characters, that we love, looked like on their timelines. It was especially awesome to see everyone spaghetti-fy and then Loki finally control his time slipping.
the pacing for this season has been great. Not one episode felt dull or filler. Hopefully, Marvel finds a way to let the team behind Loki control the bigger story. Multiverse could end up being a mess, if the right people are not writing the story.
Notice how the KIND of time slipping also changes as Loki starts to control it. Earlier it was the kind of slipping where his time travelling self and the self of the time where he goes where in different bodies(Like Back to the Future) BUT after he learns how to control it, he's now time slipping in his past self's body(Like Logan in Days of future past). I think that may be significant in the next episode where loki tries to do the temporal loom thing again and agian
While S1 was heavily focused on Sylvie's character development and story; This season is remarkable in character developments. Be it OB, X5, Dox, Casey, Mobius, Victor, Miss Minutes they are all done amazingly this season. ✌
What's interesting is He Who Remains can only read time up to a certain point, his variants can interact with this said written time, and if this variant of Loki can write time through Time slipping that means this Loki is the most powerful entity in the whole MCU as of the moment.
@@xsanguine8 the script doesn’t exist anymore none of them are following it. That’s why there are all the branches because people have free will and are making their own choices.
@xsanguine8 the lokis are still on script, the entire thing is the beginning, its exactly how hwr wrote it, thats why kang is so powerful... eons of experience mulipulating time
There are also nods to earlier Hiddleston projects. He played Jonathan Pine in The Night manager written by John le Carré. Sylvie is also looking a lot like Adam from Only lovers left alive. Mimicking his wardrobe and how he's lying back on the sofa, almost as if she's a variant of him as well.
I think the right side of the Loom was weaving again rather than unraveling (you can see it getting tighter) - likely because so many timelines are spaghettifying so the Loom can handle the few timelines that are left
yeah i thought the loom was gonna break and the multiverse was actually gonna happen healthily, but then everything turned into spaghetti so i guess not.
This episode was absolutely phenomenal, so it completely baffles me that critics are hating this episode on Rotten Tomatoes, and people are still review bombing the audience score for RT as well. Absolutely perfect episodes in my opinion!
I couldn't agree with you more. I thought this episode was brilliant! Everything that took place in the record store with Sylvie was, in my opinion, the best Marvel content I've seen since Endgame.
Its also worth noting that when Loki time slipped into time theatre 25, the chairs were empty, but also the soundtrack that played when he time slipped into that room was the same soundtrack that played when season 1 Loki saw himself being killed by Thanos, which could be why present Loki gives a strange look in the direction of the screen.
I think this episode also deserved a “Tom hiddleston hair flip” counter LOL almost every time he time slipped he did the dramatic fall forward and flip his hair up to steady himself move 😂
From this point forward anyone who cosplays as Loki needs to do the head flip ALL the time wherever they are at conventions. I mean are you even a Loki if you don’t look like you have been falling for 30 minutes?
nah. This is great but there's PLENTY of goodness for me in the MCU still. Recently, Spiderman, GOTG, all shows except Secret Invasion and Shang Chi, plus the future that includes FF and The Xmen keep me excited.
This ep made me tear up, laugh, scream in frustration and honestly I was just left in shock. I would argue this is the best ep of the series so far! The visuals and the acting were phenomenal, I can't wait for next week!!!
What a series this has been. This is the type of story and writing Marvel needs. Lokis character arc through this series and the whole of the MCU has been brilliant
I think a good reason to explain lokis time travel changing the timeline can go like this: even tho banner said u can’t change the future from a future that already exists, lokis timelines future DOESN’T. Because his branched timeline was pruned. Therefore he is able to change the future because he doesn’t come from the future..
Has the idea of OB being a Kang Variant been thought about? He knows all there is to know about the TVA, Temporal Loom and well everything. He could be a variant that was over powered by He Who Remains and had his memory wiped and left in the TVA with his knowledge to make sure everything is kept in check, if something ever did happen to the timelines. Just a thought.
Great analysis!! This was my favorite episode. It was very weird, but I love the ending and the implications. I think Loki is tapping into god powers even he didn't realize he possessed. He is slowly becoming my favorite MCU character. I really hope they are able to bring the whole Kang storyline to fruition.
Möbius didn’t remember what a Jet-Ski was, but rather, he said he read about them in a magazine. He had an affinity for them due to loving them so much when on the timeline. Casey must not have loved fish because he didn’t remember what they were.
glad you brought up Sylvie’s ahkh earrings from last episode. “The ankh, also known as the key of life or the key of the Nile, is an ancient Egyptian symbol that represents life, immortality, and death. It is often depicted as a cross with a loop at the top and was used in a variety of contexts in ancient Egyptian art and religion. The loop at the top is believed to symbolize a handle, while the vertical part represents life and the horizontal part represents death.“
“I want my friends back. I don’t want to be alone…but without them, where do I belong?” This is one of the saddest moments in the show. From Loki formerly being a cold backstabber, to now being able to love & trust people who give him purpose & comfort is so beautiful
Tiny little side note here on the books, John Le Carré wrote the Night Manager that's a series that Hiddleston and Olivia Colman both starred in. And yeah, they should have followed his work more closely for Secret Invasion to work.
Loki is definitely inspired by Agent of Asgard series. Loki is the superior one out of all his variants. Since he can control the time slipping now, he can actually travel the multiverse by will. I think Loki is gonna play a big role in Kang dynasty, Secret Wars and Avengers because he did recruit the avengers in the comic and it will be a multiverse war with all the variants of heroes and Kang variants. Loki is a God and may be the only one that can go up against Kang. Also, maybe he might takeover the TVA. Lastly, I wouldn't be surprised if Renslayer is a variant to Kang
The bedsheets out the window of the boys room is a nod to Bottle Rocket. Owen Wilson's character Dignan "breaks out" his friend Anthony (Luke Wilson) from a voluntary psych hospital, with Anthony climbing out the window (with his doctor's permission) with bed sheets tied exactly as seen in this episode of Loki
I’m still suspicious that they won’t stick this ending. I think this season has been a breath of life for the MCU (which was seemingly on its last legs) but I get an ominous feeling as the final episode approaches. I really hope they don’t fumble the end, because this has been so enjoyable so far. It’s obvious the writers have put thought and care into this story, which is so much more than what Marvel has been giving as of late. Crossing my fingers!!
Justin Benson & Aaron Moorehead being the other inmates were perfect cameos. These 2 have made some of the best indie science fiction movies over the last 12+ years with Time Travel & Time Loops being integral to the plots of Resolution, The Endless (sequel to Resolution), Synchronic, and even their newest - Something In The Diet. So glad these guys are getting the opportunity to shine outside of their indie studio work!
8:32 I did a research report on Alcatraz Prison and the escape back in August, and it's possible the boat guy that Frank/Casey was referring to was actually from a theory that after reaching angel island, someone with a boat had taken them out of the state and provided them with the means necessary to continue on their own. This is a plausible theory since Allen West told the authorities that their plan was to boat to Angel Island and then to the mainland, where they would steal some clothes and a car and make their escape, but there were no reported crimes of those thefts happening.
So when Sylvie said "there's nowhere else to go ?" does that mean before coming to them she tried to go to every branches but they all got spaghettied out ? So that very moment when they all get spaghettied was the last moment of time and everything ?
I like the touch that OB's novels have remainder marks meaning they didn't sell at the normal price and the publisher marked them to be sold in bulk to 2nd hand bookstores which sell them at a steep discount.
If Loki can control time slipping (a better version of tempad) and Sylvie having HWR’s temped, does it mean it is a destiny for them to rule timeline, just like HWR said ?
Or, unfortunately... since Sylvie still needs the "Master" Tempad... and Loki just plain *became* one... they might have to face off, again. This time, one might have to end the other, to keep this from all happening again... and again...
Oh, Sweet Nuthin' has been a poignant song throughout my life, showing up at transformative moments. as soon as those first chords kicked in, the episode took on new meaning for me. the evocative shot of Sylvie looking up on the couch really brought it home. then, toss in Loki's transformation as he claims his new role & power even amidst total destruction (as communicated by Tom Hiddleston's brilliance) & this episode got me right in the feels. Season 1 was adept at these profound & moving character moments. i'm glad to experience this from an episode in season 2.
14:40 putting crew on-screen could have been a way to limit how many people were around during covid, while also just letting the crew (and directors) have fun.
The Son of Yoren cover looks exactly like the episode of Loki and Sylvie waiting for the planet to break up and destroy the planet they’re on. The landscape, the 2 people sat down, the long horn shadow
They are doing the Loki god of stories from the comics. Loki can rewrite stories making him extremely overpowered. It’s pretty clever how they’re doing it
this season has been excellent. the visuals of timelines shedding are marvellous. it's been so intriguing. I hope Marvel realizes that if they're fixing a problem is not Jonathan Majors!
Ehh it been great not excellent some stuff/ scene just take to long or some side plot is just pointless or half the episode is really just a waste like filler they needed something to take up 15min Bec they could only have 20 minutes of actual progressive story telling
Loki from the first Thor movie has completely change, or was it when he realize that he wasn't truly Asgardian. If you look at the first Thor movie, Loki always had heart, but was bent on revenge and glorious purposes. But now Loki has friends, and this episode is a testament to how far Loki has come. One of my favorite characters.
I watched 13:48 the arm flapping scene several times just because it was so funny. I bet it was Tom’s idea to do that. He’s always put humor into his work even in live theather.
One of my favorite things is that Across the Spiderverse (maybe coincidentally) visually portrayed the multiverse how the end of Loki does. As a tree sprouting upwards into a wide branching multiverse, then with a web weaved within those branches. Thought it was a little weird that it was portrayed so similar to Loki season 1 but slightly different. Now it matches the end of Loki Season 2.
A thought occurred to me while watching this episode, what's Sylvie's version of Thor like? Hopefully we'll get to see that version of Thor in either the finale or a later season.
The thing that got me excited is that Loki's Time Slipping is now linked to Cable's Time Sliding. We've already seen in this season that the time slipping can change temporal events, like OB suddenly learning things from Loki talking to his past self. But this episode shows Loki "slipping" into a previous incarnation of himself with all his knowledge intact, just as Cable does when he "slides" into himself in the cab. Deadpool 2's time travel is now shown to be fundamentally different from the quantum tunnel time jump of Endgame.
Who do you think deserves credit for creating the TVA? OB / AD Doug... Kang-variant He Who Remains... or Loki?

This could be a metaphor for why people like Mobius have preferred their TVA lives instead of their timeline ones, they feel more at home at the the TVA.
Abducting*
that is exactly what I thought watching it
Nice catch
I loved seeing OB play around with the tempad while Loki was talking to mobius, gave me such a good chuckle lol
Uhhh
Yeah I believe it is the latter. Or a variation of that. I didn’t buy for a second that he learned everything from Victor Timely when they said that in S4. It was so fishy to me. Because Victor Timely only existed because He Who Remains backup plan to have Ravonna give him the book.
Ob is khan
OBs name indicates that he is the source of the TVA
I thought Timley made notes in his book to further explain/expand upon things?
Tom Hiddleston continues to carry so much on his shoulders. He has absolutely crushed it every time hes on the screen since 2011
I liked how Mobius’ sons had two different coloured shirts. Kevin had the orange, similar to the TVA jumpsuit font colour and Shawn had the dark aqua colour, similar to “Don”’s job uniform. Also the jet skis were both in these colours
Those weren't jet skis though me thinks
Don's sons are like Thor and loki. The younger one is a problematic one and the elder one is fixing the mess and likes snakes
@@This_is_cimema_world09literally in the video
@@This_is_cimema_world09Eric literally said that
12:36 Extra trivia: For anyone wondering the song used when Mobius was pretending to ride a jetski, it was "Thunder in Your Heart" by John Farnham, but also covered by Stan Bush.
I came here for this comment!
The BMX movie RAD ingrained this song into my memory forever!
Oh wow I didn't connect those two until you said something! What a great connection!!
EPIC
I love that OB pretends he'll have to dig up a copy of the novel when he's got stacks of unsold books everywhere 😂😂
What makes a Loki, a Loki, is the fact they always bounce back after they lose. 😊
What's interesting is He Who Remains can only read time up to a certain point, his variants can interact with this said written time, and if this variant of Loki can write time through Time slipping that means this Loki is the most powerful entity in the whole MCU as of the moment.
you do also realize its after he who remains was killed and everyone has free will and isn't bound by his script.
@@Greenhawk4 The script writes everything up to that point at the end of time, so technically only the Lokis have gone off it.
@@xsanguine8 the script doesn’t exist anymore none of them are following it. That’s why there are all the branches because people have free will and are making their own choices.
@@Greenhawk4 We're witnessing the beginning of the TVA because of the end of the TVA.
@xsanguine8 the lokis are still on script, the entire thing is the beginning, its exactly how hwr wrote it, thats why kang is so powerful... eons of experience mulipulating time
I appreciate your dedication, Erik. And also, shoutout to the editors and researchers and everybody involved. You guys are amazing. Thank you.
The fact that the Zartan book had OB's real name this whole time without us realizing is great.
I think the right side of the Loom was weaving again rather than unraveling (you can see it getting tighter) - likely because so many timelines are spaghettifying so the Loom can handle the few timelines that are left
yeah i thought the loom was gonna break and the multiverse was actually gonna happen healthily, but then everything turned into spaghetti so i guess not.
one of my favorite moments of the episode was Don/Mobius trying to sell jetskis to the others while they were waiting for Loki to return lol
the way I always think of these breakdowns as the second part of the episodes
Yes! Me too :)
Bruh same
my favorite episode so far out of of every disney mcu shows out! i absolutely loved it
The Loki series is way underrated, was addicted since the first episode
This episode was absolutely phenomenal, so it completely baffles me that critics are hating this episode on Rotten Tomatoes, and people are still review bombing the audience score for RT as well. Absolutely perfect episodes in my opinion!
I couldn't agree with you more. I thought this episode was brilliant! Everything that took place in the record store with Sylvie was, in my opinion, the best Marvel content I've seen since Endgame.
@@Nileppez100% agree
Honestly, what the hell is wrong with people?? This episode and this season… absolutely riveting!
@sandrafaith I don't understand their mentality either, but I wish people on Rotten Tomatoes with just review things honestly
This episode was best episode in Marvel history after Infinity War
@@heatherfeather7199 I HAVE BEEN FALLING FOR 30 MINUTES

Thanks- just corrected it! 😆
Can’t wait for honest trailers for this season 😂
He's going to badly injure his neck one of these days!
Who else feels like Loki is the only thing holding the MCU together?
There’s a very good chance that they end up using him to reset everything
Not me
Um… feels like he’s literally doing that in the episode. 🤣🤣🤣
nah. This is great but there's PLENTY of goodness for me in the MCU still. Recently, Spiderman, GOTG, all shows except Secret Invasion and Shang Chi, plus the future that includes FF and The Xmen keep me excited.
dude....I just watched the finale........
These breakdowns add so much extra value for me. It improves the total experience.
Thank you
I think a good reason to explain lokis time travel changing the timeline can go like this: even tho banner said u can’t change the future from a future that already exists, lokis timelines future DOESN’T. Because his branched timeline was pruned. Therefore he is able to change the future because he doesn’t come from the future..
Explain that again
Casey must not have loved fish because he didn’t remember what they were.
yeah! and i doubt he had contact with or cared for fish while escaping prison, it's not relevant to him at all lol
glad you brought up Sylvie’s ahkh earrings from last episode.
Notice that when Loki learns to control his time-slipping, he no longer runs into his past or future self, he transports into his own body and mind.
Kingdom hearts time travel logic
And he no longer whips his head back, possibly in recoil, possibly to ensure his vision isn't obstructed, possibly both.
Another thing someone pointed out in regards to Don's sons: He offered the son who likes snakes a dog. Loki's children with Fenrir and Jörmungandr.
It's shockingly crazy how impressive these videos are. Great job to everyone doing the research and making the connections and subtle references.
“I want my friends back. I don’t want to be alone…but without them, where do I belong?”
This is one of the saddest moments in the show. From Loki formerly being a cold backstabber, to now being able to love & trust people who give him purpose & comfort is so beautiful
He was a cold backstaber BECAUSE he never felt loved or like he belonged in Asgard.
Tiny little side note here on the books, John Le Carré wrote the Night Manager that's a series that Hiddleston and Olivia Colman both starred in. And yeah, they should have followed his work more closely for Secret Invasion to work.
I am so happy for New Rockstars for now having 4 million subscribers, Eric you really deserve it!!!
The song that was playing when he was on the JetSki wasn’t loverboy working for the weekend. It was thunder in your heart from the 80s BMX movie rad.
We still haven’t found out what was Sylvie’s nexus event. I hope we get find out in the finale.
Renslayer is kangs wife in the comics
@@emilioarrieta1796true, but Loki and Sylvi fell in love despite both being Loki variants
This is one of the best Marvel shows i have seen.. Great Job Eric for all these breakdowns!
The record store scene is just brilliant, just about my fave scene in the whole show. And the whole show is just soooo good.
So wonder why the song playing wasn't mentioned and broken down like the less obvious French album that was paned over?
Why would the just tank the finale after all this buildup? I understand how the recent MCU has fared but have some faith in Loki! Be optimistic!
ikr MCU series always fumble at their finale episode and then get wasted
What did you think of the finale???
Justin Benson & Aaron Moorehead being the other inmates were perfect cameos. These 2 have made some of the best indie science fiction movies over the last 12+ years with Time Travel & Time Loops being integral to the plots of Resolution, The Endless (sequel to Resolution), Synchronic, and even their newest - Something In The Diet. So glad these guys are getting the opportunity to shine outside of their indie studio work!

I did a research report on Alcatraz Prison and the escape back in August, and it's possible the boat guy that Frank/Casey was referring to was actually from a theory that after reaching angel island, someone with a boat had taken them out of the state and provided them with the means necessary to continue on their own.
I haven’t been this excited about a series in so long. Every episode I’m left shocked. They did SO GOOD.
I love all the LOST / Desmond Hume parallels in Loki. The way he controls his time travel through his mind reminds me of Desmond in the Constant
I luv ya Penny!
It’s pretty clever how they’re doing it
All everyone keeps saying ... don't really see it happening though
Mobeus called Loki a scared child in season 1. Could be why he took him under his wing to protect him: like a father.
this season has been excellent. the visuals of timelines shedding are marvellous. it's been so intriguing.
@@airyshark324The script and dialogue has been excellent, though, so even the quieter moments are compelling.
5:32 and if you look at the Screen you can see some of the timelines being destroyed do to being Spegettified
I think all of the Key Lime pie is a clue to Loki running the TVA since his colors are always green.
Thanks for all of your sleepless nights putting this amazing content together on such a blazingly short period of time!
This whole episode was trippy
A thought occurred to me while watching this episode, what's Sylvie's version of Thor like? Hopefully we'll get to see that version of Thor in either the finale or a later season.
It would be cool to see the Norse Mythology version of Thor, with red hair instead of blond.
The season lines up with events of 2001: A space Odyseey perfectly. Including details like Jupiter getting spaghettified. Amazing writing IMO.
Man, these videos are so fun.
