A wonderful story, and a thought provoking one as well. If the book that Jeremy was reading was 'The Swiss Family Robinson', then the timeframe of this universe would be approximately our current one. Given that, and the usual nature of the HFY stories narrated here, when humanity finally reaches for the stars, we would have orcs and worgs beside us, as well as dogs and cats. I can imagine a whole new branch of stories from that.
@@markfergerson2145I might dive further into this universe someday, but right now my "to be written" docket is a bit full. 😅 Still, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😁
I had that but it was the girl across the street to the right, I still remember her but never had the strength to tell her, but funnily enough not only did a girl across the street to the left of me apparently have a crush on me but so did a girl to my right that I also liked in return. It didn't go anywhere, her family was too different from mine and we just grew apart. I'll never forget that time though.

16:05 I like to imagine that Naz wasn't actually at all concerned about the prospect of fighting in school, she just wanted to show off what she learned in human class
Orcs as next door neighbors? As a kid I'd have loved playing with young orcs. We could go imagine great battles through out the neighborhood. Tug a rope would be great, or tie a rope to a tree and swing on it. Jeremy could put the book away for a while. It will still be there later. The orc girl - bike riding and fun is NOW!!!! How wonderful, childhood friends and sweethearts grow up and marry.
I would not have, like the Jeremy in the story I was a book worm.... a book worm who ran marathons, but still a book worm. The point of this story is it was about MUTUAL respect. Jeremy had his interests, Naz had hers, they met in the middle....
For the Story, for the Author, for the Narrator for the Algorithm! A great story, I love it! I could write so much more, but others already were faster expressing all my thoughts.
Your enthusiasm for narration is very entertaining. As I have said before, the new format with your expressive POV is perfectly rendered keep it up and you will succeed...
The color of ones skin is not nearly as important as the color of ones spirit. 10 on the outside,2 on the inside,...Pass it by... Remember this.5 on the outside plus 8 on the inside is a 13.. A 13 is very good...🤨
Well written and executed. Also love the happy ending haha. In fact this was one of those stories that you just want to see more of. All the "in between" the beginning and the end in fact! Hope the author decides to write more on the adventures of these two from being kids to growing up, getting together and all that jazz.
The annoying problem with multiple races is that whole 'aging' issue! An elf who looks 20 could be 12-700 yo. A 10 to Oni girl could look 15-19! A dwarf guy could look 8 but be an 'adult' of 45! Lots of remembering how old who is and finding 'polite' ways to ask! 😆
Thing is, you have to individually ask with humans too. I went to High School with a girl who was 15 and looked like a rough late 30s, while her mother was in her late 30s and looked about 16. Also had a teacher you’d swear was a student, but was in her 40s; and other teachers that looked like they were rounding 50 but were in their mid to late 20s.
I think there was an anime that took this on in an interesting manner. The viewpoint wasn't the 'hero', but one of his supporting cast, the elven mage. Who had a lifespan into the centuries, and a centuries long view on things. When the hero passed from old age, it prompted her to go on and finish other projects she'd put aside to help him out. The age gap and the different perspective in time flow is a central element.
That was actually a rather sweet story. One thing I will say though, is Terriers were actually hunting dogs. Most Terrier breeds were bred as vermin hunters. Mostly rats, which is why many terriers are small, though not all of them.
I seem to have a habit of writing stories with strong female characters... the original story link ageo posted has a link to my wiki if you wanna read more of them. (And maybe talk agro into reading more too. Of course, he's already read several, but there's still plenty to go!)
I just listened to this story again. I just feels good to come back to story like this once in awhile. I just like agro squirrel's reading of this story. It's a pity I can only give it 1 tumbs up.
That’s a good one. I like it. It’s a nice twist on the usual characteristics of human/orc relations. And, yes, Virginia! That’s where half orcs come from!
Ahh, such a cute and wholesome story! A nice change of pace 😊 Really like how we not only made peace with orcs but also actively integrating... in more ways than one 😄
Probably because its written quite well and seems to be more of an urban fantasy ( fantasy aspects in the modern day) well the ones that are not doing the hidden world trope anyways Might be something to look into

I remember playing D&D as a young lad back in the early 80’s and wondering what Elven and Orcish girls would be like. This would be a cool world to live in.
elves would maybe like us and depends on the type of orc and which universe.
Terriers were bred to hunt mice, rats and other vermin. The smaller size helps to hunt around the food storage and home rather than the fields.
As sweet as shepherd's pie, body like the farmer's daughter and can Hit like a MACK Truck!
Jeremy, you didn't hit the Jackpot, you got the Whole Dang Slot Machine thrown at you from a moving vehicle!

Loving the wholesome stories like this and skeleman.
Yes, I agree. This one and Skelleman both were a couple of good stories.
16:05 I like to imagine that Naz wasn't actually at all concerned about the prospect of fighting in school, she just wanted to show off what she learned in human class
The problem was the fact that she would have to be careful especially since the teachers didn’t seem too fond or orks
That was significantly cuter and far better done then I anticipated. Thanks for that.😂
Only thing is, when you’re greeting new orc neighbors, I’d imagine they’d appreciate a nice pork roast or such more.
Don't roast it. Walk it over alive.
Then I'll extend my southern hospitality by offering a smoked brisket, and introduce them to BBQ.

For a story about ORC SMASH this was borderline terminally wholesome and sweet.

Dash being a Terrier means he would absolutely hunt, but his prey would be something like rabbits (or in my doggo's case possums and raccoons

Need more of these style of stories it's all around a good one and puts a smile in the face
"Ray, if a girl your own age asks 'Do you want to wrestle?', you say 'YES'!"
well maybe after a few months of building up muscle mass.
That's probably the kind of "trouble" Naz was thinking about, there at the end of the story but only *after* getting back home from Thom's dinner...
😉
I read that in Winston's voice!!
Well, this is an absolutely new take on marrying the tomboy nextdoor neighbor. Never expected to consider greenskins "cute".
Never thought feet would look "cute" but apparently there is someone who likes that
Maybe he's just into muscle chicks. Or more likely, he loves the girl for who she is.
The color of ones skin is not nearly as important as the color of ones spirit.
