I hate that Dr. Heiser is no longer with us. He's definitely one of the main person's responsible for helping to open my eyes to a lot of the more important (and relevant) aspects of scripture. It's definitely helped me, in trying to build a stronger relationship with my God.
Just a conjecture, but it could've been a preemptive setup by God to fool the spiritual evilness to think, "We defeated Jesus!" to keep them at bay until Christ's crucifixion was complete. In that moment, God laid the sins of the world upon Jesus without them knowing it. Again, just a conjecture. :)
@@silentonall I think you're onto something, bro. There are 2 references in scripture that "Christ was crucified before the foundations of the world." So the whole plan of the cross was agreed upon by the Father Son and Spirit before the world was even created. Throughout the OT and especially in the NT, we see Satan attempt to kill Jesus. Herod tried to kill the infant Jesus. The Pharisees tried to stone Him and throw him off a cliff. The temptation of Jesus in the wilderness was an attempt to derail him. The prayer in the garden was another attempt. Despite what people think, Jesus was not trying to get out of going to the cross. He was NOT seeking another way to fulfill the "plan". In the Psalm Heiser speaks about, the enemies of God are trying to kill Jesus and say "a vile disease has beset him." Blood is pouring out through his skin...that's a REAL disease indicating that the body is breaking down. But Jesus prayed earnestly for relief in order to make it to the cross...not avoid it! The beatings and the 40 lashes could have killed him, as it often did to others. But God protected Jesus and preserved him for the cross...as the Godhead originally planned.

This is like a new fantastical meaning behind verses often overlooked. So much of the bible is layered. No wonder that guidance and blessing is required to understand the scripture.
Awesome. Our church had great sermon on the crucifixion. They pointed out the shallow teaching that is all about how it’s a terrible way to die and pointed to it being so much deeper. From the start of sermon I was wrestling with thoughts about it also being the conquering of the evil gods who were thinking they won.
I read Unseen Realms as far as I could get Michael is very intellectual. But he really impressed my thinking with the reality of a demon hierarchy on this planet and their strongholds. He has contributed a lot for us to consider. R.I.P.

The 30 pieces of silver was the price paid to the master of a slave if and when his slave was gored by an ox (Exodus 21:32). The slave’s death was compensated by the thirty pieces of silver. Bashan is in Syria and the Roman soldiers at Calvary were actually Syrian conscripts.
Yes, I think people confuse how involved Rome was in the actual crucifixion. As well as the destruction of Herod's temple-which was destroyed by conscripts from the provinces surrounding Judea. I don't necessarily think Islam will be around by the Great Tribulation, but the same Middle Eastern forces will play a part in the persecution of Israel.

@Adria Ford Any ecumenical movement is not enduring sound doctrine and in the name of diversity they tickle each others ears. The church leaders are fulfilling that Scripture right now churches together in unity but respect for their diversity of doctrine. No one is allowed to rebuke.

Maybe above our Lord's head, on the sign. Remember Pilate said "I have written what I have written". I bet he put a wax seal stamped by his signet wring. Which probably was a bull. There seems also to be link to Italy's later obsession with the "bravery" of a Matador against the poor speared bull.
Animal-like beings are a constant theme in ancient religion and even in modern ET/cryptid accounts. Are some heavenly beings the ‘animals’ of heaven? They were likely created before earthly animals. Did God create animals in their mage before He made man in/as His own image? Think of all the theological implications concerning the relationship between man and animal and the Law concerning animals. It’s a very though provoking concept.
@ChessDracula animals can become demonized. Think of the pigs at Gethsamane. Jesus sent the demons into the herd which then went into the sea. Which also happened in the land of Bashan.
Shedim/daemon could definitely be the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t angels and other spiritual beings that are ‘demonic’. Evil beings might come in various forms because the rebellion started in the heavenly realms and made its way to earth. I just think there’s SO much circumstantial evidence along with a case that seems probable in the scriptural text, that something is going on. It might make sense why some beings were not happy with the creation of man. Man was given authority over the animals and given the right to name, tame, use, and later kill and eat those animals. It potentially gives motive to the deceiver in the Garden.
Humans are in God's image in the sense that we're rational thinking beings. Like God, heavenly beings don't have bodies. Animal imagery is just the way that God and the gods were depicted by upper paleolithic cavemen up until ancient times.
Sasquatch is a big ticket, item these days.I would say,that it is all hype and fairy tails but, I have seem them on multiple occasions.I even had to fire my pistol at one ,to get it to bugger off.That was 3-4 years ago! @Joeseph Walls sr, I agree. It doesn’t really matter much one way or the other, but think about how the Church is making known the manifold wisdom of God. I think the earthly realm may be a sort of ‘object lesson’ or illustration for those that dwell in the heavenly realms. It doesn’t belittle our existence, since Christ died for us, not them, but God reveals Who He Is through things like His creation, history, His interactions with created beings, and obviously through His Word. We know God likes to use symbolism. I just wonder if the symbolism isn’t pervasive and even layered throughout the universe in ways that would kinda melt our brains a little.
Given Caesarea Philippi is pretty much at the base of Hermon or half way up to Hermon. Do you guys think the whole 'On this rock I will build my church' is referencing Jesus' victory over Bashan. The rock, having visited Israel just over 10 years back, seems to be referencing the rock over the top of the Pan temple which is a foundational stone of Hermon itself. Really powerful stuff if so!
Psalm 68:22 says that the Lord will bring again from Bashan and bring his people from the deapths of the sea. That, and being surrounded by the Bulls of Bashan remind me of the Bronze Sea of Solomon. Which is held up by 12 brazen Bulls.

As a late youth into early adulthood, I was enamored with Nikos Kazantzakis and the both the book and film The Last Temptation of Christ. Dwelling more in the spirit is usually a demerit to a death sentence now. Maybe it is just my personal perspective, but the lensing is becoming harder and harder to deny. I did meet someone who I recognized in flesh as more a spirit mirror of clay. I hope she will be receptive to remote connection of the spirit, with an eye to managing being in flesh better than her people CAN give her. Time is the metric of knowledge we call wisdom, because it rarely is simply adopted without personal suffering.
This is interesting that this showed up on my RUclips feed. Years ago the LORD gave me a vision of the spiritual warfare that happened at the crucifixion that I woke up the next morning and trashed every cross (symbol of Tammuz) I had in my house. For the past several months the Lord has been teaching me about the final Red Sea in the valley of Ben Hinnom and the Baal worship and child sacrifice that took place there. There the treading of the serpent’s head will finally be accomplished by “the child” of the woman. I’m just an amature Bible student and believer who asks the Author what he means by the particular terms he uses and he answers me. I don’t usually follow human theology because it doesn’t match what the Spirit shows me, but THIS is exactly on point! I will be following Michael Heiser from now on!

While this explanation is fine, I think it's something else entirely. The Holy Spirit showed me a few years ago what this reference is. During the Passover, Pontius Pilate had to deal with a rise in Israeli patriotism and tensions ran high in Jerusalem during the week. There was no permanent full Roman legion stationed in Jerusalem, just auxiliaries to keep the peace. The nearest full legion was the 6th stationed in Damascus in Syria (Bashan) from 31 B.C. until 54 A.D., which was nicknamed "Ferrata" (Ironclad) and their mascot was the bull. At times when tensions in Israel ran high Pilate requested that the 6th legion would march down from Damascus to bolster security in the city. While Jesus was on the cross some legionaries from the 6th were the ones who drew lots for Jesus' garments and stood guard for the 6 hours it took for Jesus to die. The bulls surrounding him were the Roman soldiers from the 6th legion. You can verify this easily on Wikipedia by searching "Legio VI Ferrata" and scrolling down to the section "Two legions under Mark Antony and Octavian" and the very last line in this section. David prophesied exactly WHICH Roman soldiers would be at the crucifixion 1000 years earlier!
We speak death to cancer and life to Michael. All cancer cells must dissolve, disappear and never gain control again, by the authority of Christ Jesus. His word is life and health to all our flesh. Bashan was known to be the best of the best: strongest and most fertile livestock, crops, trees, vineyards, armies, etc. When Jesus was crucified, He bore all the demonic tormentors that we deserved. All the torture, every stripe, and bruising was for our forgiveness and complete health, spirit, soul and body. Matthew 8:16,17. The Word had to come in human form, made a little lower than angels that are eternal spirit beings, so He could suffer and die for our sin. He defeated every demonic stronghold and restored dominion to His people. He did all that so we could be new creatures dwelling holy by His Spirit: resurrected and seated with Christ. THANK YOU LORD! Jesus is King with Father and all the angel armies. Trust God. Rest believing and you will win this battle because you are standing in Christ, far above every principality and power. Who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. Only speak in agreement with the Word and worship Him for what He has already done. 👁🦻🏻and 👣 Jesus only.
Roman legion X Fretensis (Bull emblem) was eventually HQ'd in Bashan but in 4BC they were sent to Judea to oversee the same census (Quirinus) that saw Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem .Many of X Fretensis ended up being stationed in Jerusalem where they were under the command of Pontius Pilate. They eventually participated in the siege of Jerusalem and the eventual destruction of the city in 70AD thereby fulfilling Jesus' prophecy.Members of X Fretensis likely crucified our Lord and were surely at and around the site that day. They were garrisoned on the Mount of Olives. Could they be the bulls of Bashan referred to in Psalm 22?
So in modern terms, were the crucifixion to have happened in America. Would that be like saying the donkeys/elephants of Washington D.C. have surrounded the Messiah?
Since we are spiritual beings, it only makes logical sense that the Creator would communicate with us in Spirit, rather than in a physical way, that would put a human before Him. The book is written by man, decided what should and not be in the book by man, and interpreted by man. I'll just look and listen within and at this point of my life, I am free from the bondage of religion and at total peace within my being.

There's a ref in Rev about a war in heaven and the dragon was thrown down. I believe this is about the cross.

Animal-like beings are a constant theme in ancient religion and even in modern ET/cryptid accounts.
Are some heavenly beings the ‘animals’ of heaven? They were likely created before earthly animals. Did God create animals in their mage before He made man in/as His own image? Think of all the theological implications concerning the relationship between man and animal and the Law concerning animals. It’s a very though provoking concept.
@ChessDracula animals can become demonized. Think of the pigs at Gethsamane. Jesus sent the demons into the herd which then went into the sea. Which also happened in the land of Bashan.
Shedim/daemon could definitely be the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t angels and other spiritual beings that are ‘demonic’. Evil beings might come in various forms because the rebellion started in the heavenly realms and made its way to earth.
I just think there’s SO much circumstantial evidence along with a case that seems probable in the scriptural text, that something is going on.
It might make sense why some beings were not happy with the creation of man. Man was given authority over the animals and given the right to name, tame, use, and later kill and eat those animals. It potentially gives motive to the deceiver in the Garden.

@Joeseph Walls sr, I agree. It doesn’t really matter much one way or the other, but think about how the Church is making known the manifold wisdom of God. I think the earthly realm may be a sort of ‘object lesson’ or illustration for those that dwell in the heavenly realms. It doesn’t belittle our existence, since Christ died for us, not them, but God reveals Who He Is through things like His creation, history, His interactions with created beings, and obviously through His Word.
We know God likes to use symbolism. I just wonder if the symbolism isn’t pervasive and even layered throughout the universe in ways that would kinda melt our brains a little.

Given Caesarea Philippi is pretty much at the base of Hermon or half way up to Hermon. Do you guys think the whole 'On this rock I will build my church' is referencing Jesus' victory over Bashan. The rock, having visited Israel just over 10 years back, seems to be referencing the rock over the top of the Pan temple which is a foundational stone of Hermon itself. Really powerful stuff if so!

Psalm 68:22 says that the Lord will bring again from Bashan and bring his people from the deapths of the sea. That, and being surrounded by the Bulls of Bashan remind me of the Bronze Sea of Solomon. Which is held up by 12 brazen Bulls.

As a late youth into early adulthood, I was enamored with Nikos Kazantzakis and the both the book and film The Last Temptation of Christ. Dwelling more in the spirit is usually a demerit to a death sentence now. Maybe it is just my personal perspective, but the lensing is becoming harder and harder to deny. I did meet someone who I recognized in flesh as more a spirit mirror of clay. I hope she will be receptive to remote connection of the spirit, with an eye to managing being in flesh better than her people CAN give her. Time is the metric of knowledge we call wisdom, because it rarely is simply adopted without personal suffering.

This is interesting that this showed up on my RUclips feed. Years ago the LORD gave me a vision of the spiritual warfare that happened at the crucifixion that I woke up the next morning and trashed every cross (symbol of Tammuz) I had in my house. For the past several months the Lord has been teaching me about the final Red Sea in the valley of Ben Hinnom and the Baal worship and child sacrifice that took place there. There the treading of the serpent’s head will finally be accomplished by “the child” of the woman. I’m just an amature Bible student and believer who asks the Author what he means by the particular terms he uses and he answers me. I don’t usually follow human theology because it doesn’t match what the Spirit shows me, but THIS is exactly on point! I will be following Michael Heiser from now on!

While this explanation is fine, I think it's something else entirely. The Holy Spirit showed me a few years ago what this reference is. During the Passover, Pontius Pilate had to deal with a rise in Israeli patriotism and tensions ran high in Jerusalem during the week. There was no permanent full Roman legion stationed in Jerusalem, just auxiliaries to keep the peace. The nearest full legion was the 6th stationed in Damascus in Syria (Bashan) from 31 B.C. until 54 A.D., which was nicknamed "Ferrata" (Ironclad) and their mascot was the bull. At times when tensions in Israel ran high Pilate requested that the 6th legion would march down from Damascus to bolster security in the city. While Jesus was on the cross some legionaries from the 6th were the ones who drew lots for Jesus' garments and stood guard for the 6 hours it took for Jesus to die. The bulls surrounding him were the Roman soldiers from the 6th legion. You can verify this easily on Wikipedia by searching "Legio VI Ferrata" and scrolling down to the section "Two legions under Mark Antony and Octavian" and the very last line in this section. David prophesied exactly WHICH Roman soldiers would be at the crucifixion 1000 years earlier!
The Psalm itsself parallels spiritual reality with the physical reality. Both are going on simultaneously and one is representing the other.
Q; is the word Pharisee related in any way to Farsi? Could the Bulls of Bashan be referring to the Pharisee priests?

Roman legion X Fretensis (Bull emblem) was eventually HQ'd in Bashan but in 4BC they were sent to Judea to oversee the same census (Quirinus) that saw Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem .Many of X Fretensis ended up being stationed in Jerusalem where they were under the command of Pontius Pilate. They eventually participated in the siege of Jerusalem and the eventual destruction of the city in 70AD thereby fulfilling Jesus' prophecy.Members of X Fretensis likely crucified our Lord and were surely at and around the site that day. They were garrisoned on the Mount of Olives. Could they be the bulls of Bashan referred to in Psalm 22?

Remember casting out a spirit out of a woman who clamed to be there during the crucifiction. The spirit said that many spirits were there with Lucifer laughing and mocking Jesus on the cross.

well originally vaccines were grown in animals cows, horses among them.
That’s a stretch.
I believe the first legitimate vaccine was for small pox. The guys who discovered it knew a woman who did not catch small pox because she had what they called "cow pox" which was similar but not as deadly. He sowed "cow pox" onto people as a prevention for small pox. Boom, first vaccine.
So that means bulls of Bashan is describing spiritual torment being experienced by Christ on the cross by powers of darkness.
