This version go on other part very gently in 3:48 So I like it than mastered in 1991 and remastered in 2021 version. Then is this version remixed from multitrack?
Cruising down 101 in Northern Ontario when I stopped to allow a lone female wolf cross the highway...20 min later my sister calls me to inform me that my young 34 yr old sister in law just OD...truly shattered but the music, wolf & her very moving time. Drove 700 KM worth tears in my eyes.
I can feel your hurt/ sadness, this my favorite piece when I am on I-95 or the Pennsylvania turn pike, u.just drive and drive thoughts sailing thu your head , memories, wishes and plans, old love , new love, u and the highway
I was 7 years old when dad played this sound during our rides in his old Mercedes 190D. 24 years after the car and this play list reminds me so much of my childhood.... 🥺🤍🤍🥺
101 Eastbound is my most favorite track off of the very first Fourplay album / compact disc FOURPLAY that came out in 1991. The original members were Bob James on piano and keyboards, Harvey Mason on drums, Lee Rittenouer on guitar and Nathsn East on stand up base.
How I discovered the group Fourplay a friend of mine plays jazz 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶💜💜on the radio and he gave me a CD and I fell in love with this group I hope one day to be able to see them live I'm also in memory of Chuck Loeb going to get me a t-shirt made in his memory we share a December 7th birthday
When I lived in San Francisco in the 1990s I always listened to ..KKSF Smooth Jazz radio.. There were the best musicians back then and some are still around. The station was changed on May 18, 2009. And an era had passed... Then later High Tech took over the world with all genres of music listening... No more Boom Box or Sony Walkman anymore and riding the cable cars and listening to great music ..now it is downloaded on a MP3 unit. And the Blue Tooth upgrade.....and it can go everywhere....... times have changed... I miss Tower Music stores when I could go look for new artist, CDs I liked on the radio...and spend the day hanging in the City... and going for an Irish Coffee... at the nearby Pub..... A very good time....... mmmmmmm
Oh my goodness!! I completely forgot this song existed! I wad looking for a different song by a different person and saw this in the results, saw Fourplay, thought to myself man I love these guys, and now I'm completely overwhelmed with nostalgia!!!! I grew up listening to smooth jazz. Every night I listened to my local station Smooth Jazz V98.7! Instantly fell in love with every song I heard, and even today, 27 years later, I'm still listening to V98.7 (the FM 98.7 is no longer smooth jazz, but Smooth Jazz V98.7 is still available as an HD station, HD2 hehe!~) before bed most nights and listening to it during the day and relaxing~ I love how music has such an influence over people, and how it can create such powerful memories~ It's so interesting how that happens, especially with scents/smells and music/sounds. This song takes me away to my childhood again, listening to this as I drift away to sleep, the sun still trying to peek through the blinds drawn over the window in my mom's room in the summer after 9pm, the sound of the AC running, surrounding me with cool air, perfect for sleeping. Have you ever wanted to live in a song? Like literally inside of a song? This is one of those songs that makes me feel that way, very very strongly.
Much, much better than a Dark, Deep Blue State residence, constant snow-laden clouds dumping foot after foot of shovel/plow-ready snow for weeks/months, and being stuck indoors in artificial heat/humidity due to "global warming" winter weather, pandemic lockdowns, and crazed big government tyranny. Despite the Fourplay music, so, so easy to be forlorn, despondent, daylight-starved, manic-depressive. But, thank you, Martina.
Simply put, I get wistful when the final fade-out begins because it means this song is ending and I want to listen to it forever. Prob my fave of all Fourplay's tunes. I thank Nathan East & his bro for composing this, and Fourplay for giving it such life. I was fortunate to see Fourplay play live in the early '90's at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano (original lineup) and it was a concert I'll never forget. An intimate venue, you could approach & say hi to the musicians afterward. I did so with Bob James. He was a heckuva nice guy to a stranger like me, paying him a compliment and thanking him for making the trip out west.
Since I was familiar with the solo music of Bob James, Harvey Mason and Lee Ritenour from the 70s and 80s (smooth jazz was the soundtrack of my growing up years, and it used to be called jazz fusion in the 70s then crossover or the quiet storm in the 80s where I was at), I immediately ordered this supergroup's first album through a CD subscription club. I can't recall whether it was Columbia House or BMG. Those darn CD clubs had ads claiming you pay only $1 per CD, except there was a catch - you had to buy several CDs at more than regular price. Anyhoo, this album was a solid investment featuring classic smooth jazz jams, and I spent hours playing it on my Sharp home component stereo system that had a 6-CD changer. The young people now would have no idea what that was 😂
Interesting story. Coming up my mom owned a 4 or 6 cd changer stereo system. Dope stuff, although I probably burned more cds than I bought. Music is it’s own language, nice to know it still brings people together to this day but sadly most modern music is all fluff and no substance.
Been in two of their concerts in Jakarta Java Jazz Festival. They are well-known here. And am still listening during wfh, omg delicious. From Indonesia with luv❤️
The band Four Play is a distinctive and amazing jazz players. So lovely 101 EASTBOUND. I love all their songs. Unique and amazing in their category. 101 EASTBOUND FOREVER .🚀❤️
101 is on the Pacific coast in CA, but the cars are on the left side of the road..reminds me of the time in Shanghai when Bob James played with his back to the audience...yep, he did that...his excuse...got to direct the young folks playing chinese instruments. Hey, sometimes smooth jazz isn't logical.
Im confused if someone can help me out cause the only hiway 101 I know of runs north and south along the pacific coast highway from Mexico to Canada so am I
It's a fictional Eastbound...101 runs North and South, on the West Coast at least... I just heard around Ontario there's another Highway with the same numerals, but it also runs North and South, I believe!

Driving along on the 101 is the best going toward Santa Barbara and all points north. The California coast is the greatest place in the world. !!!
I grew up one block away off of 101. I now live in Nebraska. I didn't know how good I had it!
Anytime, anywhere, 4play is 4play

Yes perfect for a quiet sunday night
I think this song has become a classic now.
Just close your eyes and listen to this song - it just takes you someplace out of this world
I really just want to live inside of this song!!
Smooth as a rainy Saturday morning with a slight breeze 😌
