Ace was my 1st influence to play rock guitar...still to this day - his personality in his playing is an inspiration...if the half of you only knew how hard it was to get a defined structure in your own playing youd know the appreciation I have for ace..Not a whole lotta players have that real defined character in their playing....paul and gene are in left field since ace left... funny how they couldnt really find another milestone player to write and make great music with outside of ace...kulick is a top notch player...knows more about music and guitar than ace... but you know , he never left his signature in music like ace did...see - thats a prime example...vinnie vincent - same way... I mean the guy could seriously shred some scales and technique - but can you stop and think of his solos being memorable? do you go round and hum them ? I dont cause they werent something that kept my attention to keep track of..just a lotta notes behind some feeble melody line... I do to aces stuff all the time though cause he was so profound in his style of playing...he made his stuff memorable....the licks and phrases he chose to emphasize were something you could walk away from remembering and literally wanting to remember......ace is a real good name for him...he seriously aced a generation in rock guitar... all by himself ...WITHOUT paul and gene trying to control how he did it...ace fucking rocks
just thought of another great example of aces influence... mike mcready (guitarist from pearl jam) quoted about several of his songs and where the influences behind the playing came from...stevie ray influenced "even flow"... ace frehleys playing on the song "she" was the influence behind the trademark solo for the song "alive...."
Yeah, I agree. Ace seems more level-headed about the Thayer situation than a lot of fans. He's wealthy and successful, so Tommy in the make-up doesn't bother him like it bothers so many oldschool KISS fans.
This is the first interview I've seen where they didn't introduce him as Ace Frehley of Kiss. I love Kiss but Ace is the man with or without them. I love the "I was even right about me" comment.
@moshpittttt Copy/paste from the press-release of June 2010 :) "NEW YORK, June 8, 2010 - Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced today that it will publish legendary rocker and KISS guitarist Ace Frehley’s memoir NO REGRETS. The book, to be published under the VH1 Books imprint, is scheduled for publication in Summer 2011."
Ace was right as KISS did say that it was their farewell tour. Then they decided to go back on tour with Steve Tyler and the boys and Ace said that that wasn't fair to the fans. So he and Pete moved on and did their own stuff after. I just wish I could get in touch with Pete and help him do a new record. I know how to make both ACE and Pete huge records.
Rainy Day Yes very much true, Ace is only 3" fully erect. When Jeanette & Ace got back together for a minute, she was heard by many singing "Back in the 3" Groove!!!
YOu kNow you can tell a lot about a person by the color of the nails and the layers of silver or gold up their arm... or the artificial patterns... on the skin ... but what they leave behind is the real truth ... do Good or at least sing about it or expose the shit. My God their is so much to expose... Lets rock the house down .... D
we love the ace!and we love that laugh and we love his playing
Ace Frehley is the shit!! I would love to hang out with him, he's freakn hilarious!

Right on- Ace ! I agree with his Kinks comment. They were popular but highly under-rated.
ACE said,"Farewell means farewell". Thats good enough for me. Rock on ACE.
I read Ace's book and it was very good :)

@jdu6 kinda,, but it gets old cause he does it all the time. he is still the best from kiss
Curiously, in Europe Ace's last name Frehley is often pronounced FreEley it seems while in America the H is much more emphasized.
Ace is great!!!!
