Great video! Appreciate your candor about getting the lens. Its a unique lens for a unique look. Great pictures you displayed. Best to you on your channel!
Awesome video - images are stunning! Recently invested in the Sony system and must say the Samyang lenses are really appealing so thank you for helping provide more insight
I recently took advantage of Samyang’s current instant cashback offer here in the UK and picked this lens up for what I think is an amazing price of £668. It is every bit as good as you say it is! The performance is just amazing.
Nice review. First time here and I've sub'd, best of luck with the channel. I have this lens and love it. I use it for music/concert photography indoors and outdoors. It's just deadly sharp even in low light indoors, shooting on both A7IV and A7RV.
Hey Trevor, thank's alot for your feedback! Totally forgot about concert/theater etc photographie when I said you gonna mainly use it outdoors. Bet it's great for such events!
Not all Samyang lenses rate five stars but this one does. Recently sold my outstanding six year old, but very heavy, Sigma 135 Art and picked up this much lighter Samyang 135 for use on Sony a7IV & a7III. I’ve found this Samyang is optically equivalent to the Sigma Art except much lighter. I also shoot with the 35mm G-Master and 85mm Sigma Art and find the sharpness & color from the Samyang is a good match for the look of the other two primes. It may also be the best value in high quality portrait lenses currently available.
Hey Pontcher, thank you for the comment! Yeah I agree, a simple USB C for Updates would be a better way to go. On the other Hand I personally don't have a problem with purchasing a 30€ docking station when im willed to pay 900€ for a lense. Specially when you have several samyang lenses it is not a big deal.
Hey there! Really hard to answer. It really comes down to what you want to do. I see this one mainly in wedding and event photography where it prevents you from having to use 2 camera bodys with different lenses to be able to switch between for example group shots and close up Portraits.
Tried it for a week and it was quite good, very sharp and a great look from the 135mm focal length.... however the shots looked kind of dull and a bit lacking in contrast to me. Also quite warm out of camera. Couldn't get used to it after shooting with Sony 35, 85mm primes and the look they produce. Different story entirely with the Sony 135mm GM - Utterly Stunning in every way. Hasn't been off my camera in a month now. It felt heavy at first now everything else just feels light lol. I do not regret the extra $ ever... not for a second.
Yeah, samyang lenses produce a littl warmer images in general. It really is just personal preferences when it comes to the colors. Gratulations on the 135 GM, quality wise it's the best you can buy for money for sure!
I tested 5 135mm lenses from the friends store to see which one I will get and this Samyang didn't impress me whatsoever. The only thing going for this lens is amazing sharpness... Other than that, images look dull compared to other 135mm lenses. This is probably just as bad as the Sigma 135mm, if not worse. With every new lens release nowadays, images keep getting sharper but looking worse... If you want a top notch 135mm for E mount and care about how your images look, go with either GM, Batis or Mitakon. If you're just a consumer, hobbyist or a blue collar photographer (events, weddings, portraits, etc...), then it doesn't matter which lens you pick. Anyhow, on E mount, natively, you only really have 3 choices; GM, Batis or Mitakon.
@@jonoy4375 And f2.8 is an issue how, exactly? I’ve been shooting for over a decade now and I honestly don’t know the last time I went below f2.8, matter fact, 90% of the time I’m shooting at f4-f8 or if I’m shooting with 2-3 strobes f8-f16. The reality is, close to nobody shoots wide open, regardless of which field you take a peek at. Fashion, sports, motorsports, portraits, commercial, product, beauty, weddings, journalism, events… You name it, most shots you take will be f4 or higher, you will rarely go down to f2.8, let alone any lower that that. Shooting full open is only for very specific scenarios, situations and compositions. If your main priorities when shopping for a lens are aperture, sharpness or any other trivial things, instead of image quality and look the lens gives you - then you fell for the consumer marketing.
What do you expect. This is a lens under a $1000. At 1.8 its a very good buy and shouldn’t be compared to lenses that are way more expensive. Plus the batis is 2.8, while it aint an issue, 1.8 is better in low light.

Thank you Victor!
I have bought a used lens by 500€ and I cant believe what it gives. It is a magical portrait lens.
It is indeed!
Bought this lens at a discount and it’s the best lens I have. Amazing.
Indeed! It's crazy that you can get such a lens for that price (especially when you're able to get it on a discount).

Thank you Andrew!
I'm finding the review of this lens and after your video, I would take one. Thank you so much
Your Welcome! Enjoy that awesome lense :)
keep doing the good work!
Thank's a lot Steven!
I love my SAMYANG 135mm ~ You are absolutley on piont. Sony G master does not justify the price difference.
Congrats to the Lens! Yeah it's quite impressive what you get for the money on the Samyang.
The rubber edge on lens hood, could be for protection when place up side down. Just my guess.

Absolutely!
Did someone use an lens collar tripod ring with this Smayang 135 ?
Looks good. I wish you tried some astrophotography to check the stars at the edges. Thanks for sharing.
I just don't pick this lens, only because u have to buy the dock for updates separately... I will wait for the viltrox 135mm 1.8 LAB!

$699 open-box price… maybe I should get it
Great price for that lens!
540 prime day
Should i buy samyang 35mm to 150mm f2.0-2.8 .... I have only 50mm 1.8 lens.

Yes, AF-C Mode.
Heavy focus hunting with my A7iv
Only in certain situat.ions? Because photo wise I didn't experience any issues with this lens

I think it tends to a yellow cast….
Most Samyang lenses produce slightly warmer tones compared to other lenses. It's personal preference really.

Batis 135 just has f2.8
