The crank pulley is turned by a shaft. The shaft is much heavier than a pulley. The pulley is a CIRCLE and guided by a belt. The effects are an ever so slightly efficient start-up. Once momentum is there it doesn't matter. Lighter fly-wheels (on the other hand), actually put the engine power to the wheels - and don't add power either, rather accelerate engine speed. Same with Lighter wheels; they don't add power, they will just decrease rotational inertia.
I do a whole video on the numbers behind this pulley with slow-mo idle revving and one thing I do mention is that while this is an 80% reduction over the stock pulley, over the whole crank system, it's less than 10% and a lighter flywheel will produce larger weight reduction. The Butt Dyno videos are for feel while driving and not numbers, so my review is rather subjective because it's what I feel is happening and isn't scientific.
@@TheParkingLotMechanic Did just see the video you referrenced. I also listened to your first and appears you are well aware of the decreased frequency dampening with the lighter set-up. Very well put together programs you have BTW 👍
I don't know if it is just a placebo because you know you are installing something that is lighter and meant to be lighter and more direct in driving, or if it is actually a noticeable difference
That's why we call it the Butt Dyno. It's all about feel if it's there or even not. We have a more by the numbers video too. No actual dyno yet unfortunately :( Check it out on the channel!
23mm socket, torque wrench, a few extensions, and the Schwaben counterhold ( bit.ly/3PD7C98 ) for the pulley itself (def gonna need a friends help) and a 17 mm socket to release the tensioner. Here is the link to the install video I did: ruclips.net/video/XI4OyPRUOTE/видео.html
I haven't heard of it! It looks wicked nice and right up my ally! I'll probably save that for stage 2/full racecar build so I don't accidentally destroy my daily :p
@@TheParkingLotMechanic its actualy save to do it and not just for performance, the engine Will lubrificate more etc. R tech performance uk they do a lot for engine heatlh Also. Have a look
I'm talking more me messing it up. It's on the timing chain, am I right? If it is, I've made too many timing errors to risk it while it's my daily. If not, heck yeah I'll go for it right quick!
Very high quality content! Thank you for making this
Thank YOU! :)

Thank you very much! I really do try to make quality content and stay well informed on what I'm doing.
Need to try this for my TT asap
Do it! It's totally worth it!
i must say out of all the parts ive installed in my mk6 gti my pulley was best bang for buck
So fun. This thing is out here making a real difference!
Awesome video could u maybe set a go pro up on the dash to see the rpm’s in future videos
Thanks! I’d love to but need another GoPro first. Been working on that but a good one ain’t cheap :p

@@TheParkingLotMechanic hahahahaha fair enough, keep up the quality content man👍🏼
What all tools did you need to change it

What did you torque the crank bolt too
111 ft/lbs + 90 degree turn. I had an extension on my torque wrench which can take some torque away so I went to 116 ft/lbs just to be safe.
Bro you should try Vis motorsport Balance shaft delete! :D

Bro never mind, I think this is only for EA113 :S
