I want to note that I recorded this video a week ago. Since then I have found out that Amazon prime has started to add audio description to a few movies or shows. This is awesome!
Still no audio description on VUDU though. Someone needs to wake them up cuz they have an amazing app that could be even better. Stop making me feel robbed!

They have quite a few audio described shows and movies now. Not in their apps, only through the website. We chromecast from a computer.

I strongly agree with you. The pop ups on TV shows and movies needed to stop coming on TVs before starting the episode or movie. These pop ups needed to be discountined and remove completing on all TVs.

Good to know this Vincent! I am way behind on all the TV and movie app stuff. The only thing I tried was the "Disney Movies Anywhere" app, and there were a lot of things I had to switch on cellular data and location stuff to try it at the movies, but nothing ever came up where I could try it at the movies simultaneously in town. I listened to a couple of Disney movies with the description at home after downloading over wifi, with that app, and then within a year of having the app "just in case it could work" it was made defunct, and merged to something called Movies Anywhere, which let me transfer all my small collection of Disney Movies Anywhere app stuff over to that app and create a new ID etc. I haven't really had time to try it since all that.
I did end up experiencing two movies that had audio description at the movie theater in one of their headsets. Sean The Sheep, and Ferdinand! I have to say that Sean The Sheep was the best of all the described movie audios I've ever heard. I got everything when everyone else did, and actually stuff I could tell the most of the rest of the theater missed because there was so much animation happening for them they couldn't take all of it in at once, but the description covered it, and covered it well. It was hilarious, and sweet, and sad, and funny! Ferdinand was done reasonably well, just not as packed in as Sean The Sheep. I have been considering Hulu, and Netflix. I have no idea how a modern TV even works. I still have a very old school TV with the little analogue transfer box that we all got voucher card coupons for in the mail reducing the cost to about ten dollars for that box to deal with the government switching us off analogue for TV to use it's bandwidth for "other things." That was another peculiar day at Walmart obtaining that plastic gadget that was exorbitantly priced for anyone not having the one issued plastic card that came in the mail. Would have been $110 dollars, government voucher made it $10 for the cheapest version of the plastic housed digital wiring switch, with who knows what chip in it. Anyway, that was all before I had a mobile phone of any kind. Maybe even before I had a checking account, and still just bought money orders every month. The high tech days of the long white stick and rolls of quarters, and pay phones. I think I had my TV on three times this whole year. Once was when I moved and rewired it all back up to the old used VCR and all that. Ha! I was able to pick up Columbo! Hee! Then twice listened to a friend singing on Ellen, and maybe one late night talk show. Maybe it was Jimmy Fallon. Took me forever to remember his name. Had to think of old Saturday Night Live skits.

It's like the saying TV will rot your brain. You call it a blessing that you have not watched as much TV. You're not let it corrupt your mind. but think about it this way it's awesome to be in your shoes. The opportunities you can have ahead of you right now when it comes to audio description and shows and movies is endless.
Technology today is come so far and advancements for us visually impaired and blind. The fact that you have no watched a lot of TV over the years I have not gotten to current technology standards is a blessing.
If you get yourself a cheap little TV and some internet you're moving watching experience could be endless with the artery description depending on what apps you decide to go with.if I was in your shoes and you have a cell phone which is Android or iOS I would start by paying for Netflix and watching their original series shows. They are all in audio description.
However, I bet because you don't watch much TV it allows you to enjoy the world around you a whole lot more. This is why I try to stay away from social media. RUclips is it the closest thing to social media I have.
I'm probably going to make some more videos on my streaming devices. So keep an ear out for those videos and you will know a whole lot more how about movies technology in your future.

Very true! Preach it! I mainly stick to Netflix for my audio description movies, and I also follow a lot of coming to Netflix RUclips channels. A lot of times Netflix will re-add an older movie and it will suddenly have audio description! Love it! Also I noticed that it is easier to access audio description movies via the Amazon app on my iPad then it is accessing the audio description on my Amazon controller for my TV. I have an Amazon stick and are usually get frustrated trying to figure out how to access audio description LOL. A lot of their Amazon original series and movies that you rent have audio description. For example man in the high castle a Amazon original series is fully audio described and I have enjoyed it a lot! On the movie theater front I have been very lucky to have a theater within about 45 minutes drive to go with my family. I got to see Godzilla yesterday and the audio description was great! I have heard Hulu has been almost completely bought out by Disney and they are implementing audio description to computers first with a very slow roll out to other devices. I can’t wait I have Hulu as well and would love to see audio description on that too.

Thank you for this most fantastic comment ever!
you just gave me a ton of awesome info I needed to know. I use the Roku device and I have loved mine but I've had it for almost a decade. LOL I need to update my equipment LOL
when it comes to the movie theater I want to go watch a movie so bad in audio description. There is an IMAX theater about an hour away from here where I live and I stepped in to ask them a question if they did audio description and they said yes and even showed me the headset. explain how it works and I was psyched when they said it works for every and any movie available at their theater.
Thanks again for this awesome comment lots of good information. Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Vincent Grasso My Visually Impaired Life are used to have the Roku stick, it worked great for what it was but I really hated the voice that it came with. I like the Amazon stick because the voice that narrates is Alexa and she is very easy to understand. Hope you have an awesome weekend as well

You have some valid points. There are 1.1 million blind people in the United States. you think they would try to accommodate us or at least make some money off of us. I only watch Netflix because the audio description is great. Great rant!

    • @myvisuallyimpairedlife5674
      @myvisuallyimpairedlife5674  5 лет назад

and the craziest part about it is there's 1.1 million of us that would most likely spend all the money we have on videos that have audio description. Because most of us are always stuck in our houses. LOL
Imagine how much money they would make in the wintertime. Hahaha
Thank you for watching my video and I'm Glad you agree.

Nice video. I agree, it's very frustrating when you know an audio description track already exists, but they don't share it across different formats. Here in the UK, a lot of our TV shows have audio description, including quite a few older programmes as well as more current shows. But the vast majority of the time, the DVDs don't have it included, and there's certainly space to put it on there. So they're neglecting a huge part of the market. The one show that gets it right is Doctor Who, which goes above and beyond by adding audio menus as well. Films are a bit better, there are an increasing number that include audio description on the DVD/Blu-ray releases - although there are still a lot that don't, even though it can be heard elsewhere (on TV or online). So it would be great to have proper consistency. If audio description is recorded, it should be standard practice to copy it across all release formats.

Thank you so much for agreeing. And it's awesome to know that about Doctor who. My daughter and I watch Doctor who on Amazon prime. but without audio description so it is hard sometimes for me to keep along with the storyline. The only benefit is that I've seen pretty much all of the episodes over the years so I can kind of picture in Pisa in my mind. But know this about the DVDs in the blu-rays is a good thing cuz I have not bought any of the collector's edition sets. Maybe I should start investing. Thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment. Always good to hear from you

I love a good rant. I completely agree with you. Hulu started audio description already but it's only a couple movies so far. Great video my friend.

I found out that Amazon it's starting to do it as well. Which is awesome. But fudu is the only app I know the church is you the same amount of money as they do for a Blu-ray that already has audio description on it. Feels like a crime not to just add it to their channel. I don't think you'll be costing him any extra money other than the time to add the audio setting.
Thanks for leaving a comment and thanks for watching as always.

Vincent Grasso, you do a mean rant! You bring up very good points especially the fact that there are so many of us out there. Why wouldn’t Walmart cater to this population? Oh and don’t forget our sighted supporters as Karey puts it. I think youx should create an online petition with all of your subscribers and viewers and forward it to the huge RUclipsrs, Molly, Tommy, just to name a couple to actually see how many of us there are. That might get their attention and when do you add the numbers of our sighted supporters, those people who are also affected by not having audio description because they have to do it, the numbers might be larger than any of us realize. That’s a great summer project for you to work on. LOL. Like you probably really need something else to work on. Great video!

it's funny you say that because I'm always saying if I still had 20/20 vision or if I was to get my vision back tomorrow I would still watch movies with audio description.
I think audio description is absolutely amazing and I always see things I've never seen movies before that I have seen already. For example, I watched before my vision loss Star wars movie. Then when my vision was gone I watched on Netflix the same movie and because of audio description I saw things I don't remember seeing at the movie theater. And all because audio description describe the scenery so much better than what my eyes were taking in.
I could always try a petition I like you said that would be a ton of work but I will look into it I promise. I've never done one before.
Thank you for your comment it is an amazing one as always. I always love listening to your comments. He always have so many intelligent things to say. Have a blessed weekend in a week to come Beverly.

what's even more frustrating than the lack of audio described titles, is that even when streaming services like Disney+ and Prime have it, they don't have a way to only look at those titles. i left Netflix cuz their selection of blockbuster titles leaves a lot to be desired, but i'll give them credit for at least having a way to search for only audio described titles. i might just have to sign up for free trials on various services just to give them feedback and suggest this as an idea. :) hopefully, things will improve for all of us soon. and by the way, it's not just us visually impaired people who like audio description. my sighted husband likes it too. he says it not only shows him things he wouldn't have noticed otherwise, but it also lets him step away from the movie and get other things done while still "watching" the movie. so let's keep bugging service providers. maybe they'll finally get in gear. :)

Hi Vincent Great video. My husband only started to put audio disscriptive on my TV for films etc he finds it annoying I find it much better cant see what's going on but with audio it helps . I do find on certain programmes doesn't work or certain films so I miss out .😥

    • @myvisuallyimpairedlife5674
      @myvisuallyimpairedlife5674  5 лет назад

it's funny because now that I'm visually impaired I have to use audio description. However, if I had known about this years ago and I still had 20/20 vision I would prefer audio description any way over just a regular movie. I have noticed I get way more information and I am allowed to use my imagination in a much better way when processing a film. Because of audio description.
I thought audio description would drive my family crazy like my teenage boys and my daughter and my wife but surprisingly it does not bother them at all. They can watch without hassle. I did however want to get a smaller TV and attach it to the wall next to my lazy boy chair. then connects the two TVs so that we can stream the same content together and I can listen to audio description on my own without them. There is ways of doing this. I have not figured it out yet but I will. Thanks for the comment

Preach! It should all be consistent. If audio descriptions is available on one format, it should be for all.
If it directly affected those in charge, they’d be on it like yesterday.
    *sigh*
Psst! Thanks for putting RUclips on blast as well! 😉

Thank you for your comment it's always great to hear from you.
To me it feels like I'm being robbed. I just don't understand why they can't charge you the same amount of money for something that has more if you buy it physical. Just because it's digital does not mean it should come lighter but with the same hefty price tag. To me that feels like it is a crime. if it was in a different circumstance that would be exactly the case.

Vincent Grasso My Visually Impaired Life In a perfect world, audio description and closed captioning would be mandatory. RUclips irks me some when my boyfriend and I are watching/listening to videos, and depending on the day, I can’t describe squat, because I can barely see what’s going on myself.
It’s really frustrating when methods that can actually make someone’s life just a bit easier seems to be a very late afterthought. Grr! 🤬

    • @myvisuallyimpairedlife5674

Well perhaps voodoo should get sued next because it's highway robbery when you're selling a product to someone for the same price as physical but don't get the extra features that come with it.
And the cool thing about these companies is it gets sued but not for money just to get them to smarten up their act. It's nice that people are fighting for us.

It makes no sense. TV shows that have audio descriptions on Netflix that are also available to buy off of iTunes do not have the audio description track. A good example I can think of at the top of my head is Criminal Minds. It has audio descriptions on Netflix, but no audio descriptions on iTunes. This is really confusing. I don’t understand why, if the track is available, they won’t include it in all of the streaming service platforms.

Unfortunately it was just a rant I actually never contacted them but I should.
I will try to do that today see if it's even possible. I made the video because I really like the app it even has free videos to watch however I never want to purchase any movies because they don't give you the audio description when they have it on the DVD or the Blu-ray. So you pay the same amount of money for less and I tried me crazy. Seems wrong so I made the video to rant about it. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you agree. I will try to call today if anything comes to tuition for this I'll be sure to give you credit.
