The question is no longer about consoles, because the console manufacturers themselves, Xbox and Sony, have understood that focusing only on consoles was not profitable. Xbox understood this well before and got ahead on services (gamepass), the cloud, multiplatform (by sending its games to PC I mean), on mobile, on MAU (Monthly Active Users) . Aside from the gross sale of consoles which is to the advantage of Sony, everything else is to the advantage of Xbox which today earns more money than PlayStation. Console sales are not a growth lever, especially when most players only play 1 or 2 games, as is the case for most PlayStation players. We can clearly see the difficulties of ePlaystation today with absurd prices in all sectors, no new licenses for years apart from the Concord flop, a lot of remasters or 1.5 sequels which show the desire to make licenses profitable by doing little 'efforts. Even third party publishers are increasingly fleeing PlayStation like Square Enix which is moving away from PS or even recently Crimson Desert which refused to be exclusively published by PS. It's objectively the worst PlayStation generation and the future really doesn't smell good. Conversely, it smells very good for Xbox, you just have to see that they have already released more first party games, and even more exclusive games, and the 2025 line up is already crazy, know that they don't have not announced everything

I sold my Xbox Series X and built a gaming PC instead. Now I can play both Xbox and Playstation games, I feel like lots of other people went the same route as well.

I moved from Console to PC in this generation, due to CHOICE. I want to be able to play the games I've collected on my preferred device. I'm so sick of having to buy another device, and another device and then be told the next Device doesn't have Backwards compatibility with games I love I'm tired of being sold, and resold a *Remaster* when I just want to play my original version.
I moved from PC to consoles due tl poorly optimized games and... havibg kids who likw ro play, its easier to buy 3 PS5s, 2 Switch, and 1 Xbox Series X over 5 gaming PCs.
@@007GoldenLion Maybe kids are just a bit too spoiled, but that's my opinion. Sometimes teaching the value of something instead of buying a child's love is a better choice.
I literally spend more time playing older games now. A game isn't good because of the graphics, a game is good because it's fun. That's all games are meant to be...fun entertainment.
Please don't stop talking about this I love it it is so refreshing. As somebody who grew up gaming when I was 5 years old in 1998 The change to the point where you don't earn items you buy them just blows.
Shawn has stirred Playstation into this path. He has no right to parrot this statement. He just heard about this when Iwata and Nintendo has been saying the same for the last 2 decades. Shawn is just parroting whatwe all know since the DS era
The problem with big triple A games is that they try to cast as big of a net as possible and make one of the most uncompelling games as possible. What has worked with Indies and why they are soo successful is aside from the low cost is that they go after specific audiences and excel in attracting that with a game that is designed to not rely on maintenance.
Who won? We all lost especially with digital only. We went from full games being full price physical to full price broken digital games you don’t own with season passes, DLC and micro transactions. Corporate greed won cutting of their nose to spite its face.
Lol, buddy here thinks games before the PS3 were all masterpieces and bug free. :3 Here's a fun fact: Many games you likely absolutely love are incomplete due to deadlines. Halo 2, Zelda Windwaker, there's quite a few games that you might think are completed and you likely love that are actually incomplete but had to be shipped out! Gaming has always suffered what you're claiming right now. It's just more visible because of RUclips.

There is no reason other than "the market supports it" for the high cost of Video Game production. Nor is there any reason for the million dollar salaries, options and so on for Execs, other than "the market supports it" The Market, and the Industry supplying it are each consuming the other. It's unsustainable.
Well one of the first things to go away is the high wages for the devs making the games, we all know it. Saying things like that is a slippery slope that leads to worse working conditions for the people making the games. It's always the employee that takes the first hit
Gaming is literally better than ever. Mote games and variety more than ever before, and high quality. Anyone saying otherwise is lying. If you're an enthusiast who wants the most powerful, graphically beautiful games, it's there for you. If you don't care about that, there is a sea of AA and Indie titles for you.
Definitely. The only ones that release consistent quality with their software. And the only ones that can afford hardware misses and be fine. Nintendo won the war, despite what the graphic wh0res will tell you.
Are you implying that he is refusing to just say Nintendo won by not even mentioning them? Because yes, everything he is saying only applies to PlayStation and Xbox. Nintendo's the only one that didn't get involved in this dumb race for power and graphics.
@@abaddontheannihilator8144 Yes and yes. Nintendo warned everyone during the Wii's era. Then we have people who pretend Nintendo don't exist. As if they don't matter. Sony and Microsoft does that too. 'We're the serious companies for serious gaming.' ☠

95% of triple A is aimed at a gamer that is looking for mature themes, complex stories, and a challenge. The billions of potential gamers aren’t necessarily looking for this experience, and the future of gaming in kids is happy to play Fortnite, Minecraft, or Animal Crossing because there are very few games on the PS5 or XBX aimed at them that you can’t get elsewhere. I own all 3. I use my PlayStation the most. Getting the Pro. I’m a computer engineer but PC gaming isn’t for me yet. I like just downloading and playing games. No manual patches, drivers, buying new graphics cards etc. I get why that’s fun for the hobby tho. Totally. Some PC rigs are amazing. But as an 80’s and 90’s kid I love console gaming. Probably always will. I hope Xbox stays in the fight. Competition is good for the industry. Hyped for my PS5 Pro. Gaming is an awesome hobby if you let it be 🤘🏻
&1:19- “people are running out of time to play all of the games and we are seeing more and more game be released, and fail”… yet you keep spruiking Gamepass!!! Running out of time yet get something that gives you 200 games that you’ll never get through. People- just BUY THE GAMES YOU WANT TO PLAY! Save money and buy less games but buy the games you want.
I’m still on the Xbox series S mainly because my series X2 of them stopped working on me. Even I’m seriously thinking in the New Year, I think of providing work continues saving up and just getting a blasted gaming PC.
One of the 1st things creatives can do to cut cost is to stop hiring contractors and consulting companies. Just get to work. Art speaks for itself. Games by committee are generally regarded poorly.
What are you talking about? Hiring contractors is a cost-cutting measure. It is way more expensive to hire someone full-time and pay taxes on that. And get to work is a nightmarish phrase people have about crunch.
@@XlPackratlX He's talking about paying a consultant company like SB.I millions of dollars to come in and race/gender swap all the characters. And I agree, its a waste.
@@XlPackratlXYeah people don’t realize that contract work has always been a part of gaming. In fact there are entire gaming studios whose only job is to do work contracted to them by other gaming studios.
Nintendo is moving units. they are selling hardware and their games are evergreen. but only because they dont have any competition from Microsoft and Sony. If just one of them pulls their head out of their own rear, Nintendo is in trouble. They only just barely appear to care about their customer base more.
I agree. I see more smaller games having success and higher player counts as time progresses. Many consumers are shifting away from the big games. I think that's one reason why we are seeing this AAA bubble start to break. I don't think it's social media posts are influencing the AAA game bloat as much as analytical data showing player engagement and spending across similar games. The data collection revolution is feeding these publisher visions of riches. I also think that's why so many recent profit predictions are off. They are designing games 5-6 years in the past, with data from that time period. Meanwhile, during their dev time, 60 new time sink games have been released, some free to play dividing player counts even further. The data drivin design is failing companies and the consumer. I agree that the vision and art needs to return to the industry at the AAA layer. There are a lot of AA games out there, people just aren't hearing about them.
This might be wrong, but I heard Black Myth Wukong only costs about $50 million to make. This game sold more than Spider-Man 2, that costs over $300 million. Maybe the developers need to rethink how much money is required to make a great game. They would get more ROI and potentially give consumers a price break.
Spiderman cost that much because they are paying for bullshit costs like ESG and DEI oversight. Their game would cost less if they weren't beholden to woke ideology.
From a consumer's perspective I truely hate the fact that the game industry is so greedy and now forcing us to except that if we want to play games we don't own them and never will but we must still pay the price to 'buy them'. What happened 😢
Convenience and software licensing. Fun fact though: You never owned a game in your life! What you owned is a medium that stores an executable version of source code which is a specific license to play only in the machine it is designed for. If you have a ROM and don't own the disk or cartridge for said ROM, even if you owned it prior and sold the game, you're in possession of an illegal copy of the game! It's funny how it took until 2024 for people to realize how software ownership is always based on licenses. Here's another fun fact: If you bought a DVD, and went to your community hall and played it there for a "Kids movie night" fundraiser, you'd actually be in direct violation of the license you purchased, :3 Which is why I'm laughing at all people who thought digital or even physical means you own anything software related. When you buy a Disk, you simply own a plastic disk which has bits engraved on it for a laser to read as software. Scratch the disk? Tough shit my guy, go buy a new one, because you broke your license key!
@@Xyler94i grow tired of comments like these, you’re being obtuse. no one is saying they own the actual software and code when they say “they used to own the game”. they mean they had owned a physical copy of the game. whereas now everything is digital and the company at any point could shut everything down and render your download useless, a physical disc meant you could play offline, from start to finish and there wasnt a thing the company could do about it. the point people are making is at least in the physical space the company isnt knocking at your door and taking your disc away. the same cannot be said for digital games nowadays unless you have an offline installer.
Tell me you don't comprehend what FORCING means without telling me you don't comprehend what FORCING means. 🤣🤣🤣 Just say that you're an impulsive spender who lacks self-control.
the consumer is not the problem. there is a absolute ton of trickery and illegal practices surrounding mtxs. take away all the manipulation, give the consumer more power, the $20 falls off the planet, guaranteed. market illegal manipulation is not a consumer problem, its a problem for consumers.
The consumer didn’t necessarily lose anything. This is just business and how things work. When companies compete with one another sometimes brand dominates the other in a particular market. Sony dominated Microsoft in this market and Microsoft realized you know what we can’t catch up. It’s not possible, no matter what happens we will not catch up. We need to do something different. We need a different strategy because this market is not one that we can be successful in. So they literally said we still going to make platforms but the idea of platform and publisher they want to get away from that will make the platform but we’re going to make publishing part of our business. It’s a totally different way of looking at, making money in the video games industry they said let’s be a mega publisher. Let’s figure out a way to give subscriptions to people so that they can play video games and if you are a mega publisher, that is a way you could potentially make money now they need to get enough people behind their subscription model. the catch is they can’t do it on their platform. They need other mediums to adopt their subscription service. PC that’s the first one if they can get Nintendo to adopt that subscription service or if they can offer this subscription service via cell phone or other streaming media, you don’t need to try and win the platform market anymore you’ve just opened up into a whole different space with way more customers
There’s a bit of a disconnect here for me. How can we complain about the existence of microtransactions and the rising cost of games production while also railing against studios when they lay off employees to cut costs? I understand that once devs are laid off, the studio absolutely does not pass their cost savings along to the consumer, but aren’t microtransactions securing those devs’ paychecks while they are employed?
There's not a "ton of growth" in gaming where the entire industry constantly plays games of politics, inserting foot into mouth, tripping over its feat and taking a step forward only to take two back. there's not a single company that can just make good games with the customer in mind. They are all throwing their existing fanbase under the bus to attract less than 1% of the population, because investors and groups told them that number was 40%.
Honestly I don't agree with this at all. You have the PS5 Pro bringing some really nice and much needed improvements on the console. Obviously you arent going to see leaps that resemble going from PS1 to PS2 or PS3 but what you will see is better forms of upscaling improving overall image quality, more GPU power = closer to 4K resolutions, more ray tracing effects etc.
I think indie has become the new AA. There's so many high quality indie experiences now that the line has blurred and people often know a game is indie until they're told.
I spent probably 100 hours in Starfield just hunting alien dinosaurs and finding different planet features because exploration is fun to me. If there were quests or missions for doing that it would have felt like work.
@@EggEnjoyerit's pretty bad tho , definitely a disappointment compared to what we all expected and personally I thought was utter trash couldn't play it more than 3 hours and made me cancel 3 months of free gamepass 2 months early , not supporting gamepass if that's the quality Xbox is putting on it
Inconsistent frame rates at sub 60 is not a tiny little thing. Games have had blurry smeared looking characters combo not just Blades of grass. Both Final Fantasy rebirth and 16 are big examples of this.
Completely agree. However new hardware isn't a requirement. The games just needed optimization. Remember this term. Minimal Viable Product. The stock market is killing games.
@@ni55an86 There's a point where optimizing equals a compromised vision. You could release a cell shaded looking Final Fantasy 16, but that's not the vision. There's a reason some games won't run on last generation. An unoptimized game that runs like crap on PC is different than a game that can't hit its target on console but runs like butter on a capable PC.
@@Sticks_of_Truththere are far too many unoptimized games, it isn't just cell shading, it's spaghetti code, part of it naturally stems from all the gatekeeping DRM and store locked content, poor port quality, and subpar release quality depending on day 1 patch.
@@michaellane5381 I'm not saying that this isn't a problem but there are actual games the bite off more than they can chew when it comes to these consoles. Saying that the Pro wouldn't be beneficial to this is disingenuous. That's like saying getting a better graphics card is useless if they only optimized the games better.
Can we just have smaller games that take 1-2 years to make, I’m good with that. These 5-10 year dev windows is ridiculous, not just from a fan perspective but from a business perspective as well.
I love being an xbox player, but the problem is I can't just sit down and look for Xbox vidoes without coming upon several videos saying that Xbox is going to die and should become like Sega. I also am a mostly physical media consumer, yes I have been stremaing more content but when you're in rural Australia with semi-decent internet you need those physical disc. As for AMD winning the console war, that is an interesting twist
The AMD response is a cop out, it's like yes obviously the one selling weapons to both sides benefits but there's always a winner to a war just as Nintendo soundly defeated Sega whom were in direct competition with each other.
Why are you defining yourself as an Xbox gamer that just sounds like your a fanboy of the company , you shouldn't tie yourself to a company lose that bias I'm a gamer , not a ps gamer , not an Xbox gamer , not a VR player , just a gamer......I don't restrict myself with bias and willing to play anything that makes itself worth my time......unfortunately that isn't Xbox it's the one system that just seem absolutely pointless and the worst , with how they focus on gamepass and shove ads all throughout they UI , imo Xbox can piss off pulling garbage like that
I was fine at 1080p. 4k is a mistake. Gaming period has hit its saturation, they need to figure out how to make games cheaper to subsidize the longer development games.
@@Nick-p6p1m It would make a difference if games are native 4k. Instead they are upscaled 1080p sometimes 720p that look no better than 8th gen game that required 4090 and DLSS to run properly.

Good comments on the indie game industry. I believe making one fun game is better than making an AAA game that is laden with micro transactions and is dead on arrival.
I believe this plateau has spread across all industries and not just gaming. The arms race to make more money is cancerous to society as a whole, in my opinion. Look at the cell phone technology…hasn’t changed much and the only reason people upgrade is because they are forced out by the company abandoning the older technology. The only upside we have in gaming is the decreased load times and maybe frame rates. Other than that, not much else will drastically change.
I am primarily an Xbox gamer, but have bought every generation of Playstation console. I recently bought a PS5 slim used for $240. I don’t see the additional value in buying a PS5 Pro for an additional $500.
After reading majority of the comments, it is obvious that most people didnt even watch the whole video. Destin wasnt talking about the console war but the current state of the video games industry. He said it was AMD that actually won.
The irony to these as the technology progress with faster CPU and great GPU. But most of the games I played are pixel art and old games (not remastered).
It feels like its been so long since ive played a newly released title. With how bad cames have been turning out, mechanically and sometimes politically, its become such a turn off to be hyped for anything anymore. Ive been saying this for a while, but we are in the mist of a video game crash.
If Microsoft continues with Xbox, pretty sure it will essentially be a feature parity with a PC. It will do productivity with office subscription and ability to stream/produce content direct as well as gaming.
I don’t know that I’d use Halo era Bungie as a bastion of the better times before predatory dlc. They were pioneers of it. Do you remember “you like this mode? Well then, you better buy the new map pack because we’re walling off everything but social slayer for those that don’t have the latest!” Or, the “ending” of Halo 2 being essentially “it’s just getting good, now buy a 360 to finish the fight!”. Halo era Bungie actually turned me off to Xbox for a while, and I was pretty late to the party on 360 because of it.
This is what happens when you put graphics over gameplay. We can't expect to ask for hi-res 4k graphics at 120 fps and not expect there to be some type of consequence. Console devs are trying so hard to compete with PC in graphics that it's killing the production of the product they are trying to sell. We used to get 2 or 3 entries in a franchise per generation, now we're lucky to get 1. Why? Because their resources are towards how detailed a blade of grass is or how sparkly the water is over adding some new mechanic or feature and focusing on enhancing gameplay, you know the stuff that actually matters.
Yes, Destin, we know it's your job, no need to keep justifying your decision to buy the PS5 Pro. Now, I personally will buy it just for entertainment. I want the improved performance and I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford it. That's it. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Companies sell products and we decide if they are worth our money or not. Simple as that.
There is something to be ashamed of... it's called being lied to. All the points the PS5 Pro's marketing made is the exact same ones the PS5 made back in 2020. So Sony either sold you a lie in the PS5 or is selling you a lie in the PS5 Pro. You should just wait for the PS6 instead, at least that'll likely have a stronger CPU that can handle outputting complex worlds at 60FPS. It's not an accident they showcased the games they did at the reveal, did you notice all of them were very light on complexity?
@@Xyler94 also adding on track high quality RT to a highly detailed game like GT7, at 60fps, at a 4K like image isn't "low in complexity" like you implied.

Working class people are the people who play games the most. However, the economy is SO BAD that many working class people don’t have a lot of time to play games anymore.
I bought the Xbox one x on day one. I had the s and decided to upgrade to the pro version. I will never do that again. Minimum gain for an expensive machine is a mistake I will never make again.

Whatever console or PC and portable you go with, that's a win. I chose gamepass and Series X and PC Ps5 or switch are great consoles. You like that better. That great. Halo and Gears of War are my fav series. I hope they come to Sony consoles. The more people playing the better IMO
It was Xbox exclusive and you guys didn't buy it.........what do you expect if they made anything for Xbox again you would all just want it on gamepass 🤷♂️
I love how the guys who complain about the industry's trajectory and agree with Shawn Layden are the same people that: Buy Call of Duty every year Champion a subscription service where you don't own any of your games Are the main players of the top 10 time sink games on both platforms Whine & cry about wanting more indie titles but never buy them, while contributing to the AAA titles selling millions in less than a week & Cheered on one of the biggest acts of consolidation in the ABK merger... Here's a hint, YOU are what's wrong with the industry. The industry realized your habits & responded accordingly. Until YOU change YOUR habits, the industry will keep going in this direction. I don't want to hear all this whining from the guys that push the industry in this direction
What ALL these analysts miss is frankly there is no way to go back once the genie is out of the bottle in respect to micro transactions. The only solution is legislation. We need government to break the backs of these publishers if we ever want to fix the industry. We also need public funding sources like the UK has for film and tv. There no way for the market to fix this issue because there’s simply too much money to be made. More Battlefront 2 controversies please.
I’m always going to prefer co broke gaming because of the ease of use, simplicity, and I just enjoy to set back and play with a controller on the big screen HOWEVER, I understand why people are switching over to PC as I also have a gaming PC myself that I play from time to time.
Funny you didn't use alan wake 2 as a example of game companies putting constraints on themselves, since they only sold that game on the epic games store for the pc platform.
Hmmm this is fairly difficult topic tbh. The clone games have already been a thing for generations before this. Just industry is very follow the leader for successes. Win back and Kill Switch were cover Shooters before Gears. But once Gears popped off, so followed a plethora of Gears clones. Then just solidified cover Shooters archetype. Same with GTA3. That spawned Saints Row, Mafia series, Sleeping Dogs. That's how it's always been. It's just that the stakes increased since budgets have increased. So arguably, AAA devs will more often play it safe. But also blame consumers' hesitancy to but games on outlets too that often downplay games' value and quality for their agenda. As for Pro, it's just optional hardware that's stronger. Literally the games whether imaginative or not. Whether story heavy or not, will just get boosted by Pro. This naturally includes Hell Divers 2 and PalWorld. Which PalWorld is being sued for monster designs being too close to ripping off Pokémon. Which has likeness to Dragon Quest monster designs 😅 You should really condemn GPU makers like Nvidia right? Because they haven't developed any games. They just made stronger hardware that games brought to the platform benefit from. Sounds like what the Pro is intended for...
With Saber Interactive CEO saying that pricing for current games in unsustainable and they they need to change. I feel like what is about to happen is a slew of videos games where you get a 7 hour campaign and then PVP combat. This is what happened with Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 and Dragonballz Sparkling Zero. And if that’s the cast, then expect to make and see more videos complaining about this issue. I.e. “Campaigns for video games are too short and they all have PVP.”
FrameRate 60 and 120 for my console don't care much about graphics just don't make it 720p. I don't know what's all this about Ray tracing and being 4K.
How much time do developers think people have? If you let people engage in a variety of tastes/games with the short amount of time they have, they are more likely to enjoy the time they spend with your game. Instead of it feeling like a chore that they have to keep playing to keep up with, aka Destiny 2. Skyrim, Witcher 3 and Halo MCC are still replayable 15 years after they came out and are VALUED purchases
I dont even think gamers are doing a great job in showing their frustration with micro transactions but Indie games are just so good right now they are pushing those huge AAA out of the market, they cost less, they have less DLC, and they are simply more fun thats why everyone is playing those instead of
This generation was a complete joke on both sides, shawn layden days was amazing. Because of shawn layden we GOT QUALITY GAMES ON PS4!!! Without shawn layden playstation fell downhill and now they are dead.

I play on a gaming pc I built about 6-8 months ago, will be good without updated for a while. I also have a series x for my wife. I dislike what gaming is doing now very much, but I get FOMO easily. They have my number and I hate it.
I chose a console over a PC all the time.Consoles offer a more streamlined and hassle-free gaming experience, where you can simply plug in and play without worrying about hardware compatibility or frequent upgrades. They are also more cost-effective, with a lower upfront investment compared to building or maintaining a gaming PC. Additionally, consoles often provide exclusive game titles and a robust multiplayer community, making it easier to game with friends. Plus, sitting back with a controller on a big screen can offer a more immersive and relaxed experience than sitting at a desk.
I agree 100% I find myself coming back to my Series X because I can take it to my friends houses, hand everyone a wireless controller and it just WORKS. It’s small, silent and can play 4K Blu Rays. My PC is cool but the desk and monitor isn’t nearly as immersive as my HDR OLED. It’s large, noisy and clunky compared to my Xbox. Not to mention that PC ports are often terrible and stuttery compared to their console counterparts.
If this generation was a minimum of 60 fps it would not be in the trouble it is in. Last gen graphics is fine. Second mistake, this gen needed to also support DisplayPort because of 120 fps. Monitors with 120Hz already exist but with DisplayPort. HDMI 2.1 120Hz support and VRR is late and disappoints. DisplayPort already supports VRR. People are just tired of waiting. This is not a technology problem. It is a choice problem.
I think we are hitting the law of diminishing return. I dont expect PS6 and Xbox Series X2 (ow what it will be called) will offer much in the way of native 4K games a term that is now going to be outdated even on PC with DLSS which is used even on a 4090. Cost and time of development have increased. AAA games are in a mess. Those of us that saw the change in tech in technology from Nes to SNES to N64 saw huge leaps in power between generation but that wont happen anymore. This biggest leap in a gen Xbox is talking about seems like it will likely be machine learning and AI upscaling as the chips have not advanced that much anymore and cards on PC are much bigger than they used to be
next gen is still not happening ( 60 fps min. at 4k + raytracing ), the xbox series x is a grindstone around everyone´s neck, nearly all major western IPs are damaged and some eastern ones as well. on the plus side remakes are pretty good, but imagine bloober had come up with that story of sh2 themselves. basically impossible nowadays. currently the industry is held up only by fromsoft, nintendo and the newer eastern studios
Games dont need to cost more than a military jet to develop. They dont need to be in development for 5 to 10 years. A well made game doesn't need to have cutting edge graphics that can't even run on modern hardware. Bloated is the correct word for modern gaming. Im barely getting around to playing Elden Ring anyway, why do I need a $70 to $110 new game? Ill get to it in 2 to 3 years after release for less than half the price.
? I get it when some random players comment against PS5 Pro not being significantly better or totally useless, but it is sad when professionals especially at timestamp 7:00 talk like this. PS5 Pro is not just about looks, but about running a game with high fidelity in HIGH PERFORMANCE. Obviously there are many games, where some of them are cross-platform, which already runs just fine in base PS5. However, FF7Rebirth, Dragons Dogma 2 with RT ON, FF16, Alan Wake 2 all these games have proven that base PS5 cannot comfortably handle them at 60fps. Dragons Dogma and FF16 doesn't even hit 60 fps most of the time, and FF7Rebirth looks like blurry piece of garbage when played in performance mode. So far, it looks like DD2, FF7rebirth and Alan Wake 2 are already getting PS5 Pro enhanced mode with Alan Wake 2 getting 4k at 60fps with RT on. As from the previews, DD2, FF7Rebirth already look amazing on PS5 Pro. Monster Hunter wild will also be one of those games which will struggle to keep 60fps in base PS5. Future games releasing on 2026-27 will only prove my point further. I feel like everyone is bashing PS5 Pro mainly for the price and some of you journalists may be bashing it because there is no competition or rivals, like Xbox mid-gen console

🫵🏼👍🏼Well said bro.👏🏼
Don’t forget the big red elephant in the room… China 🇨🇳
It’s because us salaries are not competitive
Different working culture and ethics.
Here's another fun fact: If you bought a DVD, and went to your community hall and played it there for a "Kids movie night" fundraiser, you'd actually be in direct violation of the license you purchased, :3
Which is why I'm laughing at all people who thought digital or even physical means you own anything software related.
🤣🤣🤣
Just say that you're an impulsive spender who lacks self-control.
The problem is the consumer, if people are willing to pay 20$ for a skin. You bet your sweet ass they will put it in the game.
the consumer is not the problem. there is a absolute ton of trickery and illegal practices surrounding mtxs. take away all the manipulation, give the consumer more power, the $20 falls off the planet, guaranteed. market illegal manipulation is not a consumer problem, its a problem for consumers.
17:01 i like how Destin describes what the Halo reboot will be like.
Gamers didn’t lose anything. Xbox lost the ability to make a profit off selling hardware and exclusives
It's never been profitable, which is why square has stopped putting games on just PlayStation

@@ni55an86
There's a point where optimizing equals a compromised vision. You could release a cell shaded looking Final Fantasy 16, but that's not the vision. There's a reason some games won't run on last generation. An unoptimized game that runs like crap on PC is different than a game that can't hit its target on console but runs like butter on a capable PC.
The reason games are blurry nowadays is because of a cancer called TAA
@@Sticks_of_Truththere are far too many unoptimized games, it isn't just cell shading, it's spaghetti code, part of it naturally stems from all the gatekeeping DRM and store locked content, poor port quality, and subpar release quality depending on day 1 patch.

Can we just have smaller games that take 1-2 years to make, I’m good with that. These 5-10 year dev windows is ridiculous, not just from a fan perspective but from a business perspective as well.

Or, the “ending” of Halo 2 being essentially “it’s just getting good, now buy a 360 to finish the fight!”.

Netflix struggles to ever turn a profit...........so what a losing strategy ? Competition is killing Netflix and same is happening to Xbox
Imagine having to pay 1$ every time you have to reload in a shooter 😤😖😣
Funny you didn't use alan wake 2 as a example of game companies putting constraints on themselves, since they only sold that game on the epic games store for the pc platform.
Moved to pc from xbox in 2017. Would never go back to consoles.
Which has likeness to Dragon Quest monster designs 😅
You should really condemn GPU makers like Nvidia right?
You know there's content creators and a handful of people who care.
It's the same with most of the gaming stuff on social media.
I dont even think gamers are doing a great job in showing their frustration with micro transactions but Indie games are just so good right now they are pushing those huge AAA out of the market, they cost less, they have less DLC, and they are simply more fun thats why everyone is playing those instead of
!00% agree. Micro transactions are ruining gaming. I personally don't spend a single penny for those or avoid games as a service.
This generation was a complete joke on both sides, shawn layden days was amazing. Because of shawn layden we GOT QUALITY GAMES ON PS4!!! Without shawn layden playstation fell downhill and now they are dead.
Many game directors believe in their vision.
That doesn't mean the game ends up being good no matter how much passion they put into.
Execution matters.
The creator of Concord believed in their vision. LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED. 🤣🤣🤣
14:41 bloated overpriced games because of bad management with DEI hiring, Spiderman movie cost around $200 million while having script writers actors directors stunt people and everything in reality to pay for along with computer cgi but the Spiderman video game cost around $300 million🤦♂️
There are likely many people like Kojima. There just aren't many opportunities in the gaming industry
The Master Race prevailed.
This biggest leap in a gen Xbox is talking about seems like it will likely be machine learning and AI upscaling as the chips have not advanced that much anymore and cards on PC are much bigger than they used to be
I played Apex Legends for years and not once did I buy anything.
next gen is still not happening ( 60 fps min. at 4k + raytracing ), the xbox series x is a grindstone around everyone´s neck, nearly all major western IPs are damaged and some eastern ones as well. on the plus side remakes are pretty good, but imagine bloober had come up with that story of sh2 themselves. basically impossible nowadays. currently the industry is held up only by fromsoft, nintendo and the newer eastern studios
I like all consoles, I got both Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro.
I'm in the market for a pc because of the ps5 and Xsx they were not as strong as originally advertised.
Me watching this and realizing I haven't turned on my PS5 in 2024 😂
7:31 they do this because the vast majority if people watching those videos are doing so on a 6" mobile screen that isnt even full hd.
Destin, you make videos, you talk about this stuff on the daily, you should know better
the consoles are getting more expensive, is more easy to have a pc and you can do more things with it
PC has gotten more expensive either. Actually it started there.
for those trying to play in pc just get a rtx 3060 or 3080 or if you got money to burn go for the rtx 4090
Hi Everyone !
Youve been an xbot for so long. I find it kinda disingenuous how you're switching sides. You've used careful narratives to cushion Xbox failures and grasped at straws to implicate Sony as the lesser of the two. Just your surprised, condescending tone when Sony gets a W was all part of your character. I'm not sure I'm liking the switch...Anyway, I agree with most of the points and that sucks. At least you still throw in a half-truth now and then.
It’s annoying sometimes
Games are games bro @ Dustin
