We had a lot of fun making this video. We love trying new things even when it's a complete fail! What's the strangest thing you've ever tasted?
I want to contribute to your adventures. But would rather do one-offs when I feel the urge, rather than monthly recurring ? Is there any way you can set that up maybe via PayPal? Love your videos.
Thanks so much for commenting! You can do one-off donations via paypal with this link: www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=BLGJ6RXW47524
We really appreciate it. Any amount really does make a difference and helps us keep creating better and better content! Thanks for your support!
Water it down with Vodka.....I like that.....My liver doesn't ;)
The Endless Adventure finally after a gap of so many days 😆
Sorry about that! We actually post Monday, Wednesday and Friday around 1pm CST. So keep your eyes out for new vlogs on those days!
you not suppose to drink the liqueur like that, its made to drink with coffee or mixed in with other beverages. but its hard liqueur so if you are going to drink it raw, you need to use shots, not wine glasses. its like drinking vodka out of a cup :D
+Natasha Jerjomina
A cup for vodka?! Гранёнка!
Natasha Jerjomina Ha ha ha ha! Yeah, that's true!
btw its not just liqueur its herbal balsam.
but with coffee it tastes awful haha
Add a bit of it to tea when you are feeling sick! Works wonders
Thanks for nice videos of my city - Riga :)
Regarding Black Balsam. Best ways to drink it are:1) with black cofee and whiped cream or vanilla ice cream; 2) with hot or cold black currant juice 3) shots 50/50 with peach nectar. Cheers!
looks Great! Q-! How many understand English in Latvia? ;)
Funny Q :) Mostly latvian people are tri-lingual - we speak latvian, russian and english.
with coffee - ok, with peach nectar????!
Pint of Porter+Balsam shot (with the shot glass) - the depth charge Latvian style.
Ar kafiju vēl nav mēģināts :)
You don't need to go to specific bar to buy balsam. You can buy it almost in every grocery store
Small info about Riga Balsam - one you tried - its Classical Black Balsam, which was first made around 300 years ago from around 30 different ingredients (like oak bark, root bark, ginger, honey, peppermint etc.) by a local alchemist and was originally used as medicine (so haha- taste ... is what it is). But now there is 3 other versions made - 1) Balsam with Rum; 2) Balsam with Blackberries; 3) Balsam Cream ( everyone says it's "Lady's" due to it being sweeter and gentler than other ones). Last thing - if you can't drink it ... directly .... you can mix it with other drinks (tea, coffee, cocktail) or sweets you like!
Anyway - Awesome videos! Please don't stop them anytime soon! OwO
Exactly! I mix my balsam with tea, or even disolve it in just hot water (blackberry one) - makes for amazing winter hot drink
LoL, if you want to drink black balsam straight, go for black currant version of it, not the original one, that feels too much like a medicine (well, duh, that's what "balsam" suppose to be!), and is usually poured into coffee or, what I love to do - pour a couple of teaspoons of balsam over an ice-cream, it adds bitterness, but tastes really good.
And yeah, "potent" and "one sip" is a perfect description. XD. That's why in restaurants and bars it's usually served in a tiny shot glass next to a cup of coffee.
You should had tried the black currant one. That is the true one. That saved me on latvian winters. On my opinion you tried the worst one so maybe thats why you didnt enjoyed it so much. With lemon tea is good! I lived with latvians and some drink it with tea!
Fair enough! We really just wanted to just try the original before anything else, but next time we'll definitely be using it as a mixer and sticking to black currant 😄
Original is true one, but it is a mixed in drinks etc. you shouldn't`t drink it alone + I recommend you a real Latvian beer
I love this ! I was born and adopted from Riga Latvia back in 1998 and live in the US with my wonderful parents who adopted me. I have not had the chance to go to back to my birth country Latvia yet. I am 24 and one day hope to go back and possibly find my birth mom and if possible dad. Seeing this video was so wonderful and I got to see some of it without even leaving my house! Absolutely amazing ! Love your videos !
I am very sad to read your story, I pray to God that your dream of going to Latvia may come true so that you can meet your mom and dad ?
Thanks guys. I think I'll put Latvia on my bucket list.
Definitely do, we had a great time there!
well id otn need it on bucket list cuz ima lready here!
Make sure to put it at the very bottom :D
There really isn't much here.
I suggest to come to Latvia at the end of spring or at summer, its really beutiful here at those times, and if you do come, look up what some tourists have recomended and what we Latvians would recomend
Balsam actually was sold for medicinal purposes a long time ago.
BALZAMS IS GOOD. I live in Latvia and for us latvians it is not strong at all.
Supergirl 11 yup
Supergirl 11 where used to it
Supergirl 11 truth i am latvian aswell and i live in latvia its not strong at all
Nice
It's great for when you have the flu!
You don't usually drink original Black Balsam on it's own. You mix it in cocktails or drink it with coffee. Black Balsam Currant is the one to drink as shots. Or you can add it to a warm black currant juice with slice of orange.
We'll definitely try it as a mixer next time!
Any latvian?
Elīna Stone Sveika, Elīna!
sudokuuuuuuuu
es arī!
Bet protams!
Jeh
YOU SHOULD’VE TRIED THE PURPLE ONE! The purple Latvian balsam is WAAAAAY better!
American cake looks like a cross between cheesecake and bannoffi pie (banana and toffee British invention)
Why didn't you show Nikita trying the drink!? You don't show him enough!
Had my American friend try balzams and he gave it the best description. He took a sip and said “Tastes like the woods.”
That "American" pie is called Banofee pie. It's amazing! And Black balsam is amazing if you drink it right way 😇
Moroccan people love couscous and tagine .🤗
The balzam drink with somthing , it add for example in tea
Haha. You guys rock. I'm from Rīga, and that's exactly my experience with Rīgas Balzams. The one with black current or cherry is very good though.
I never pay to be a Patreon for RUclipsrs because I've not yet found any that are worth my time doing it for, but you guys? If I get the job I applied for yesterday, I'll become a Patreon. I have no issue with paying to view your hidden content. You guys are fantastic and I love how I can "adventure" through you guys ❤️
Wow Jessica, thanks so much for the thoughtful comment! Honestly your support is more valuable to us than your donation, so please don't feel obligated. Thanks so much for your positivity and support!
I love blonde Latvian women. 🤗😍
What a beautiful city 😍 Looks perfect for me and delicious but Riga Balzams is that strong? The description of the flavor was weird!
The notification arrived so late but doesn't matter, was fantastic, hugs guys.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah it was a lot stronger than we anticipated! 😄 That's strange your notification came so late! I guess they all don't go out at once 🤔
Ingrid Alcazar i love blackberry riga balsam ...i put 1 teaspoon of it in my coffee ❤
Ingrid Alcazar thank you Latvia is indeed a beautiful country i am from there
Ingrid Alcazar i leav in latvija and yeh riga ballsam us strong huh
Esmu no Latvijas im from Latvia and i go to riga
Hilarious liquor tasting segment!!! I loved the video. I have to wonder if the "meringue" on the cake was made from sour cream? I also loved how you started the video with a beautiful drone shot....
That drone footage is 😍 I feel like I've been to Latvia now. Thanks for sharing ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it! I feel like seeing the drone's perspective always helps us understand a city better. - Eric
Loved watching you guys trying the little bottle of dooooom ! Great video as always guys.
Excellent description 😂
And black balsam I think nowadays we do t drink so much, I remember old people like my grandmother in older days used to drink it :) it's strange that nobody drinks it and yet it's one of the most popular souvenir here :)
Hi
Rigas Balyams is really great in winter or if you are cold.
i live in Latvia and now i am going to be famous because of it.
Try Purple/Blue Black Balsam, because those are flavoured and actually taste pretty good raw. The brown one should be mixed, that's why it didn't taste so good
the dryed fish is really good. i know because im fom Latvia
Riga Black Balsam the best is in the violet backaching. It is blueberrg
I am from latvia and if u want the balzams drink to taste good u have to try it with oraange juice or coca cola
Should have tried the Kvass drink (on tap) from the central market. One of the best.
The black balsam liqueur also can cure colds for adults. I know that because im from Latvia
true
@@dianaliepina1354 It cured my cold in 36 hours. Wonderful stuff.
You should've tried it with black currant taste. Much better
Why there are so many blonde girls in latvia ? 🤗
You definitely should try Cherry balsam! It is sweet, and has 30% of alcohol.
I hope you spend more time with the locals next time to get a better understanding of Latvia. Try the folkklubs ala pagrabs. You’ll love balsams by the end of the night.
I wouldn't place this into liqueur category. We have separate category for balsams. They are ancient recepies of strong alcochol together with wheeds and mend to be as para-medicine. Tastes good in mix with both cola and fanta. Try fanta...will see.
Another nice video thanks I'm in Scotland and don`t get away much but I did date a German lady for a while last year so it gave me an excuse to travel there every few weeks :)
Nice, we love Scotland! Any reason is better than no reason to travel :D
please come back to Scotland!
How is balsam not good? Just try it with grape, peach, blackcurrant or any other juice. I don't like plain Jager either but mixed with other flavours it's really nice.
Ahhh yes my home town like īsti nav tā jādzer tā
Blackcurrant one is much smoother. But you're supposed to drink it with coffee or with some kind of cocktail. Kudos for trying though!
*hears about the weather change* "aaah yes! that's so like Latvia! we got all 4 seasons in a week"
Hi Latvian blonde 😋😊😍
nice tour rigas centraltirgus ;]]]]
Oh dear, Balsam didn't work then. We had the blackcurrant one with coke and lemon juice as a shot. Was superb! 😁
We'll definitely be trying that next time. Actually sounds pretty good!
Try the Balzams over icecream. Or in iced coffee with cream. It's supposed to cure all manner of ills
drink balzam just before you feel getting cold - with coffe, tea etc. (mix)
This "white fish" is makrell -macrel
next time if possible try black currant balsam. that's much better.
Where are you guys headed next? You should go to Slovenia. Out of the way and not as touristy as other Euro countries
I don't think we'll get to Slovenia this trip unfortunately, but it's high up on our travel list! Thanks for the recommendation :D
its cracking a cracking drink, love the stuff. puts hair on your chest.
I like it when Eric occaisionaly lapses into London accent at tea times etc...or does he not realise it ...lol
omg that balsam botle was so small😂 it's designed to be as a souvenire. the 0.5 liter or 0.7 liter is for drinking😂😂😂 it's often given as a gift here too with some "Laima" chocolates
?
I’m a Latvian who loves people who speak English and if me and my friends see and hear someone on the street we will probably talk to them!!! Also great video!!!!!!!!!
My fiancé and his family are from a small village in Latvia and they love the cherry flavoured Balzam which I like too (I'm irish) they also take a shot whenever they have a sore throat
Did you marry or not yet ? You looks beautiful
Where l can get the ricipes of balzan coctails? Thanks a lot!
There are more flavors...you got the srongest one...
This is insane, but are you related to a David? LOLOL You two look crazy similar!
you need to mix that balsam with cola or some fizzy drink but almost everyone mixes it with cola and i know that cuz im from latvia cesis
I like Latvian girls, from punjab
Soundtrack on this video??? Please !!!!
You probably need to mix balsam with something!
Black tea
Yea,Latvians drink that (i'm Latvian)
I love Latvian women 🤗🤩
Just try black currant riga balzam with black currant juice!!!
Do you like tajine from Morocco?
Just bought a Shirt, bit silly because thats what I make for a living, but hopes its a way to support you two, keep up the fun
norm balzāms , nekāda vaina, moš viņiem samagonku vajadzēja iepist.
Iepist vajag tev, lai beidzot sāc iet skolā un apgusti kultūru un pieklājību, nevis uzvedies kā okupantu urlaks!
Still looking for that 1st song. Anyone plz?
And it`s not from The Beatknitter
btw if you guys visit the market again and see that little empty looking white kiosk house in middle there? you can buy weed in there
I keep coming back to this video to find out that name of first song. Can somebody please help me?
In Latvian average salary in month 890 euro (750 pounds).
They call that banoffee pie in England, banana and toffee basically
you don't sip black balsam, if anything you only should do shots
I love tajine .I think you know it 🤗😉
Love Riga, I've been there often. Great city with great people.
I wish someone would look at me the way Nikita looks at that naan bread at 2:43
Kelsey Stone great spot Kelsey :)
This is awesome! How on earth did you catch that? 😂 What can I say? I get sensual with my naan bread 👻 Plus I was super hungry. I think that was the first thing I ate that day :P
If you think drinking this is hardcore, your'e lucky that you haven't experienced a hangover from this stuff :D It's basically almost medicine, and you dont drink it from wine glasses :)
With cola or energy drink
I bloody love your vlogs! Am catching up on all the ones I missed between early last year and now. I just checked out flights on Ryanair to Riga from London, so cheap! Will go in the next few months. Thanks for the entertainment!
Это не ликёр это бальзам
Dasha К это же американцы, что они понимают?!
the ''pickkles'' you filmed were salted cucumbers not pickles :D
Hi there, found you guys from your blog, just wondering, how did you achieve the really smooth time lapse shot at 2:06? usually whenever I attempt a time lapse it comes out really fast without the smooth motion blur that yours did.
I love that stuff. Try mixing it in a cup of hot coffee, especially a latte. Either that or mix it with warm blackcurrant juice. Riga black balsam was in fact invented to be a medicine for flu and counters allergies. And it also goes well with Chinese dishes. I boil it with my chicken soup.
So weird to watch a video about a city I live in.. :D
From Riga?
Black Balsam have 24 ingredients, I dont remember how its tastes, I dont like strong alcohol.
I'm from Latvia!!
Sveicieni latviešiem!!!
Oh Latvian woman are beautiful 😍🤗
That was a festival not a market near the church
You guys should take a trip to orkney and go to skara brae. It is a settlement from neolithic times, so 3000 or so BC. There's also some other really interesting very old places to visit in orkney. Well worth the trouble of getting up there. Also if you do go you have to try Grimbister cheese and bere bannocks.
Hello
Im from Latvia i know there is very beatiful.
Es esmu no Latvijas es zinu ka tur ir ļoti skaisti.
I like that somone like my coutry
@@ikwtdsa hi. ?
WTF! You've never heard of Banoffee Pie?!?
Banoffee Pie is English though, not American.
Its English so probably not.
Na ,Invented by a guy in Sussex but based on an American Coffee Pie,
banofee pie is actually german
Definately English end of.
I wonder if that tea shop thought they'd have Americans in trying their American cake, it looked good. The drink Eric and Allison tried looked like the horrible cough medicine I had growing up when I was ill.
Yeah, I doubt it 😂 Yeah it actually tasted a bit like cough medicine!
It was invented by a chemist and sold as a medicine so....best with blackcurrant.
As already Tom said, it was used in past as medicine. I still use it when I have cough and regular syrup is not helping :D
ha ha ha!!!!! You was drinking herbal balsam, you shouldn't drink it like that. OMG it is so hilarious :)))))))))))))))))))!!!!
hey I live in Saldus I wod to like to see you
Me in Africa 🤗
U guys took the worst alcohol in Latvia u can find ,non of young ppl drinks black balsam only old ppl ,i don't know why they buy it ,i think they use for some medical purpose, like make a tea and a zip of this thing...i have tried it once and have newer tried it again,u should have tried Moka with milk ... awesome drink 😊
I'm going to have to unsubscribe, just watching you guys is making me fat !! ;-)
Sorry about that 😂
I won't lie in our country like in france kids are allowed a small shot but i swear it's not that strong 😂
You should drink the black currant Balzams, that tastes amazing, mix it with grape juice or black currant juice. Amazing, my go to drink!
You should have had a Riga Coffee at the Apsara Tea House and the layered honey cake. It's black coffee with classic Balsam. Also good if you add heavy cream. Balsam "Element" with the red label is sweeter and more like Jaegermeister. Last time I was in Latvia in 2018 there was a version of Balsam with cherry flavor and it was sweeter. You will not wake up with a hangover if you have some Balsam along with beer.
Latvian Liqiuour it's the best drink, it's my favorite drink and you need to drink cherry Liqiuour because its tastyer, and you need to drink this drink with special Liqueur glass who smaller. I know this all because I'm from Latvia and Liqiuour it's my favourite drink.
one little tea spoon RIGA BLACK BALSAM and cup of black tea.Pour into hot cup of tea one tea spoon balsam and enjoy it after summer swiming.
I an half Latvian, born in the U.K. try the bacon rolls. Beautiful and yummy. Nice place. Nice peeps..
Latvian Balsams is an acquired taste. I’m an American who lived in Riga for years and I actually love it. It’s great on ice cream or in coffee. But it’s a miraculous tonic for colds and, believe it or not, stomach flue. I loved your video. You made me homesick.
Riga balsams shoud be mixsed with somu juice or somthing like that.
Recommendation, don't drink pure balsam, we latvians don't usualy drink it pure, instead we mix it with coffee or another drink.
