The point when you realize you're hooked. You come to RUclips just for a few minutes to check if there's by any chance something interesting to see before you go to bed. An hour later you catch yourself having watched an entire episode of Produce Like a Pro. And you didn't even want to watch it because you were tired. Hooked I tell you. :)

Whats wonderful about what you're doing is that this is SOOO entertaining and informative for today. But, really, in many years time, when the "new" group of 40 yr old "Old Guys" (who are 10 yrs old today) go searching for what the guys back in the day used to do and what gear they used they are gonna find this treasure trove of videos from you. You have so much QUALITY material you could make a serious documentary with all your stuff. So cool.

This is so good. I've been binge watching everything... It pushes me to try new things, to dare to make mistakes, and do things in a different way. I've been out of the recording and production loop for a while and last week I just set everything up next to me, and already started recording stuff for a few friends, enjoying it so much more than before, focusing on creativity instead of following trends.
You guys are really sending a great message to all of us, so I want to thank you. I'm a big fan of yours, keep it up.

Baldwin Hamilton pianos rock...that's what we had in the practice rooms at Otterbein College (Westerville, Ohio) where I studied...amazing pianos. I was lucky enough to buy one at auction here in my town when they tore down the old high school. Built like a tank, hold their tuning forever, and great tone...a studio piano that I prefer over a bunch of higher priced pianos I have played over the years. Thanks for all your great videos, Warren, such a pleasure to see how all these different but amazingly talented folks work!

great episode warren! please pursue more vids w/ joe barresi. how refreshing to hear someone w/ sooo much gear constantly emphasizing the oldschool "record it differently, and creatively" mentality. also tons of great ideas on crazy signal flows... and Peavey! totally agree! i, too, grew up w/ em. it seems that only pros can admit, with pride, that they love their cheap gear- maybe even a bit more than their expensive gear. most everyone else thinks cost=performance/value. exceptions like Peavey dont get alot of love, so it's cool to hear it from others, however rare. anyways, great job, warren!

These interviews with producer masters are always very inspirational and they are actually comforting me that I'm not making mistakes when I chose a shitty gear or plug-in over the hyped ones or when I leave some weird stuff or even mistakes in the music. Thanks, Warren. You just ruined my morning!
I'm personally blaming you and Joe for killing all productivity this Thanksgiving day.
I hopped on You Tube to play some music as I started to prep for a wonderful evening with family and friends. BUT NO! You Tube recommended your interview with Joe and there, right out the window, went all of my good cooking intentions. Argh...
What an amazing conversation. So much information. So much guidance. So much gear!
I thank (and curse) you both.
As always a truly fantastic job.
    P.S.
It's with great irony that I, a Yank, wish you, a Brit, a very Happy Thanksgiving! ;)

So in case anyone wasn't counting, that's 9,497 buttons and knobs.
    Not including the SSL desk.
_(but I happen to know, that there are over 3,000 on his console..)_
And that doesn't include all the knobs on the gear in the Live room, and all the amplifiers either. That's an awful lot of buttons & pots to clean, de-crackle and service.
And you have to wonder how many times those 13,000 buttons and knobs have been pressed and turned over their lifetimes..!!
Keep up the good work Warren. Such an awesome interview, and awesome series of videos.
    Thank you.

your videos Warren are the BEST in RUclips.. by far..!! We appreciate it soooo much!! I was @ NAMM this last weekend.. hoped to see you there. You should be picked by Mix with the Masters.. I would soooo sign up for that.. The tip on calibrating your protools rig for accepting "hotter" signal from the neve 1073 just made my day!!! I have that problem too.. and didn't know how to best approach it.. Now I'm enlighten!!! thanks to you and Joe.. Cheers

when you guys are talking about the spectrasonics 610 I realized what Joe does with his is similar to what Andrew Scheps did with his setup, going into a transient designer then to the comp top get more length out of the snare...Great minds think alike! I very much dig both of those guys...good stuff!!

    • @mikewallace1270
      @mikewallace1270 4 года назад

Shane I think Tom lord algae demonstrated a similar trick in the Mix with the Masters Namm 2018 video. He used a transit designer plug-in that was previously a hardware piece and cut off the front of the snare, another words very slow attack, and increased the sustain fully. Then he ran it through a compressor. And blended it back with the original snare track. He called it the “ping” snare sound.

Are, AR speakers - sublime! I used to sell HiFi speakers in middle/late 70s. Absolutely the smoothest sweet speakers of all - including large Altecs and larger JBLs. They were liquid dappened way back then absolutely magnificent. I used to use Rod Stewarts ablums to demo the drums and crispness and smoothness. I am back in LOVE!! Oh drool, drool :-))

Pete Townshend used to run his 1066 loaded BCM 10 into two LA-3As. I personally think the LA-3A is excellent, especially on the mix bus. Pete Townshend is also a fan of the LA-4A.
