@@alchemistcollective8782 If you are new to Odoo I would look into the fully hosted version through Odoo.com A lot of the technical implementation issues that arise with Community won't be an issue with Enterprise version. While there are other considerations for Enterprise it's a good idea to try it out on Odoo.com before committing to an implementation for your project.
@@discoursedigital Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! Unfortunately, we need a third-party application to link automation to our Shopify website with our Odoo account and it seems like the Enterprise cloud version doesn't allow installation of this app - or at least, we can't seem to figure it out! 😅 That's why we're looking at a self-hosted enterprise option. I'm not sure if the Community version would support everything that we need, but maybe it will. Setting up a meeting with an Odoo rep now, but thanks again for all of your help! Definitely going to follow you for future videos, keep up the good work! 🙏
Hi it doesn't work, always after enabling computing machine, it doesn't say anything, like it has not been activated! Hours lost trying to do it, even with different accounts!
Odoo.com offers an "enterprise" hosted product. Migrating will depend heavily on the complexity of your community installation and the amount of customization you have done. Since the databases are different and version may conflict migrating is not a simple one click upgrade in most options. Essentially if you move from community to Enterprise hosted you will need to re-setup the app in the new account or have a database specialist work on migration. Does that help to answer your question?
@@discoursedigital Thanks for the reply!!! I see what you mean now. Follow up question: can I use the installation you demonstrated as a more permanent solution for our small company of 10 or is what you showed only good for testing the software? We're going with odoo community by the way.
@@cheaptube4918 Yes you can use the community version deployed on Bitnami as your production instance. You will need to configure the server security and configure the application for production. In the cloud(enterprise) version this is done for you, you only need to manage user security roles. I run several instances for small companies in the US with less than 15 employees and it is a cost effective option compared to other enterprise ERPs. I do warn you that if you are not an experienced full stack dev the process of maintaining production instance would be challenging.
@@discoursedigital Okay perfect. Thanks again for the reply! I'm not a full stack dev so what would you recommend I learn to properly maintain the instance?
@@cheaptube4918 if you are an ambitious developer then I recommend using the bitnami deployment as a learning playground that you can pause, copy and promote to production once you're confident. It took me about 2 years part time to learn the app and development structure. But GPT is making this much easier. If you want to learn Odoo development I suggest checking out the Odoo development track from the company and the Packt app which has several good books on development on 13-15. Once your familiar with the structure and open source code, GPT can be a great resource. If you are an end user I highly suggest you consider the cloud versions and tech support as they are much simpler to deploy and manage updates. The cloud Odoo also has the Studio which allows you to modify the app much easier than developing add-ons. Just FYI I am not associated nor do I receive anything from Odoo. I have worked in every major ERP any I found Odoo to fit my needs, it's up to you to evaluate whether it can work for your organization.
Great explanation , and nice journey
Very useful. Thank you.
This is a great video, very helpful! I'm curious though, does this work with the Enterprise version of Odoo or just the Free Community version?
This is just for setting up Odoo Community, Enterprise has its own setup procedure depending on your deployment type.
@@discoursedigital Okay thanks, is there an option with Bitnami or is a whole other beast? I can't seem to find anything online about it.
