Sykes sparred with the likes of Frazier and Ali.
In the Boxing ring he was formidable and itd be pretty similar on the cobbles too as j can imagine him being willing and able to head butt, bite, eye gouge and elbow too.
He was also strong as f*ck in the gym for his weight

I've always asked ppl in the know who they thought would win between Field and Sykes. They were very similar, in my opinion, Sykes was a lil bigger, but I think Field was the more technically proficient boxer. On the cobbles, who knows,, but Field was a bleeder and that hurt him in pro fights.

If its in a ring I'd say Paul Sykes but Also big Cliff would have been a brilliant battle. No easy to get U. K title fight just wi Paul's dad getting him into boxing n how to handle himself. Think his old man could have been a bit of a bully to him in his younger days. He seemed funny 🤣 to mate . Drink in the n hard living is wot took his spirit. R.I.P Paul ' Lenny and Cliff . What a lot of people dont realise is the size of both cliff Field's and Paul Sykes when they were pro fighters and think they were big but they weren't.
Sykes was around 15 stone and cliff Field's was around 14 stone. Years later after their pro boxing careers they both ended up a good bit bigger but as pro's and especially among modern heavyweights they were very small.
