  • The day has come to add a new family member. In many ways, this little boy found me. I miss Aspen terribly, but I know that she would approve of her little brother. She will always be with us in all of our adventures! Looking forward to sharing his life with you.

Congrats a true fur mom all ready for the adorable cutie. My first horrible loss I could not deal with was my 12 year old service dog that died from commercial food recall I had no idea, it destroyed her liver. I started learning about how to find that out. Waiting two years did not help my grief, a ground hog moved in by the house so I knew a dog was to come soon. We are surrounded by wildlife in the Catskills of NY, seen it all in our yard that sits on 500 acre passive farm surrounded by state land, our dogs keep them at a distance. I got a rescue for my next SD, after a year she started looking awful like she was dying, the same look in this almost 5 year old dog as the one we buried. I was a basket case and the vets found nothing. I tried every food, I now found out in the US we take our dogs lives in a dangerous places in this less than desirable poorly reviewed industry. I found all my research and resources and from professionals everywhere and converted her lifestyle. I got a cold listless beagle lab with no undercoat turn around in 3 to 5 months. We went to raw feeding and never looked back. Wow she lived until 14 years of age until her heart was wearing out. Not bad for a dog that was on Proin from her starting journey from the shelter. She grew her undercoat, lost her stink, teeth tartar just fell off and she was full of energy and now loved all aspects of the homestead. I then worked with others to educate for those who want to improve their kibble routines, convert on some level or fully. I now raise our pups this way and wow, a dog like I have never experienced before. My grief got purpose. When my second gal died of a bad heart no one let me wait, especially our last little old rescue gal, she cried until I gave in. We searched for a month everywhere and found my Aussie shepherd border collie cross at a great cattle farm and started following you guys as I never had these breeds and she was to be my service dog. So glad I went on this journey, helped me and others and we just never know where paths take us. Keep sharing, you have taught a lot through your lives.❤🙏😀🐶ps...love the name timber, we have a fence company coming by that name to do work on our homestead, a very wonderful name, speaks so many things. Many blessings with your new pup.

Congratulations on the new puppy! Handsome little boy.
I also commented on your last video that I had recently lost my dog and got a new one. I also had friends tell me the best cure for losing a dog is to get a new one. Even though it is the last thing in the world that you feel like you should be doing. They were right. It’s been 10 months since I lost my last girl and I am still not over her, but having my new one helps comfort me so much. Their personalities are so different from each other.
Looking forward to seeing Timber grow.

Also. My favorite Aussies are blue merles. And like you, there was no way I could get the same. But I did get a black tri because of watching your videos of Aspen.
I was surprised that Timber has a short tail. I thought most European countries outlawed docking. Is it naturally bobbed?

@@AR15Chuck So glad you got a black tri because of Aspen! Yes, Timber is a natural bob tail. Docking is outlawed here in Norway :) about 1/4 of his litter were NBT and the rest were full tails.

What a darling pup. So happy for you. I just watched your previous video saying goodby to Aspen and bawled all through it. I started watching your videos when I did a search on Aussie grooming years ago. I lost my Aussie 4 years ago to lung cancer and it was THE hardest thing to endure. Happy trails to you and Timber. I LOOOVE his name.

So Sorry to hear about Aspen. It is so hard when you lose a dog that was so young. We have had Aussies for decades. Although getting a new puppy is definitely the right thing to do, you really can never replace a dog that was so much a part of your life with another dog. Everyone copes differently. About four years ago we lost an eight year old female to cancer unexpectedly. Pumpkin was a great dog that was perfectly trained and highly affectionate. She was a one of a kind. We still miss her. We were lucky to get a new Aussie puppy while Pumpkin was still alive. This new black tri, Peaches has turned out to be a wonderful dog. Over the past few years, we made the decision to increase the number of dogs in our family. We got Dill Pickle, a blue Merle about three years ago to be a companion to Peaches. And then about a year ago we added Popcorn, who recently turned one. Three is more than a hand full, but it is now hard to imagine only having two dogs. My wife and I really enjoy the challenge and chaos of having three active female Aussies. Timber is a beautiful puppy, and I wish you many many happy years with him and the next dog that you add to your family.

I was in the same situation as you 2 years ago when my 8 year old aussie suddenly passed away. It was horrible and heart breaking. I did get a new aussie 4 months later which was difficult for me to deal with. I felt as though I couldn't love this little creature the same way that I loved Tama. It has been two years and Maebe is a different dog altogether which is just great. I think about Tama all the time and went through a lot of guilt giving my love to my new girl. But we have a great life together just like I did with my first aussie. I wish you all the best ... they are just wonderful companions.

I get what you mean about why getting another dog can be helpful. Now that my dog is 6, I have started to think sometimes about how I will cope when she passes away. It's not just losing a beloved pet, it's also going from having a dog to having no dog - which is a *huge* change in routine, on top of the grief. My days are literally planned around her. I think that makes it harder. I want to get another dog before she passes away for that reason, but I don't know if I will be able to. I can't handle another dog any time soon, but I can handle a cat, so I adopted one - well, more like abducted a feral kitten from the woods behind a dentist's office LOL. (All the rest of those kitties found homes too!) I love him so much and it gives me comfort to know that I will have a reason to get out of bed and keep going when I am dealing with the loss. I know it's kind of morbid to be thinking ahead about a dog's death, but as weird as it might be, for me, I feel it's better to think about these things ahead of time than to be caught off guard and totally shattered. This is going to sound cheesy, but when I got my dog, it was like that scene in the Wizard of Oz where everything goes from black and white to being in color. She has colored every single aspect of my life with a joy that I can't even describe, and changed my entire perspective on life forever. Losing that is not going to be easy. But I will have my lil' buddy to help me.

Not sure if you'll read this. I lost my beloved girl (almost 17 year old chihuahua) this past October (writing this in mid January). Totally destroyed me. I still have her day bed in my living room...her cleaned out food and water bowls still set up in the kitchen, etc. Yeah, having a bit of trouble saying good bye. Anyway, I told myself I would not get my next dog for multiple years, at least. But, who am I kidding, right? So, after a lot of research and knowing I do want an energetic sidekick to do hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and much more, I narrowed it down to an australian shepherd. All this research is how the RUclips algorithm introduced me to your channel, by the way. And yes, your Aspen goodbye video hit home with me, as you can imagine. Anyway, I look forward to watch your new adventures. I'm excited for you!

OK, I'll admit it I had tears in my eyes. Sweetheart, I know how you feel, where you are coming from. My Sunny Day Sundance passed away suddenly and it crushed me! Then I found my Ahyoka Star! She is the most wonderful girl.
With Sunny Day Sundance, I always wanted to get another, but it never worked out.
But, I made it happen this time! Just this Monday, Ahyoka Star and I went on a two and half hour journey to pick up a baby brother! Sequoyah (ᏎᏉᏯ) is he's name. The first day Ahyoka Star ( ᎠᏲᎧ ᏃᏈᏏ ) wasn't too sure about being a big sister, but now, they are bestest friends.
I hope that you and Timber have a most wonderful life together, and that he will one day be the best big brother to a little sister!
Ahyoka Star and Sequoyah ( myself also ) sends you both our love!
