    The pieces are lovely as always! It’s good to try new things. It keeps us from getting stagnant. And it makes you reach within and connect with another part of yourself to create another beautiful piece.

    I finally figured out why my clay (with the use of alcohol ink) was always cracking.
    You have to bake it as soon as possible . I sometimes left it overnight and that caused the cracks!
    Tried it yesterday, baked immediately and…… no cracks !

    • @keipfr
      @keipfr  Месяц назад

      Hey Dominique 🥰 Yes, you could be onto something there! Alcohol does break down the polymers and the longer it sits on the soft clay the more it will dry it out. In saying that, the copper piece I showed in the intro was baked immediately after it was created and the surface still cracked. What is weird is that the clay was somewhat protected by the foil. But, as a general rule I agree with you that it's wise to cure it asap! Btw, did you ever get around to creating a facebook account? I would love you to join my group so you can share your creations with me 😉

    And response to alcohol, cracking, polymer clay, it does drive the surface which can start cracking it leaches out the plasticizers in the clay the late Marie Segal actually taught a class using alcohol to purposely dry the surface of polymer clay to get a crackle effect. There is so much that still needs to be explored with all the different brands of clay and products use with them. It’s a never-ending experiment. Sometimes you almost have to be a chemist to understand what the different products we use our reacting to each other

      You’re right Jan, there’s so much more to explore 🥰

    Would it be possible for your camera to be zoomed in closer to your work? Also, if your ring light was closer to your worksurface, then the whole area would look brighter. You do beautiful work and you explain it well. It’s just hard to see it in action. Thanks so much!

      Thank you Claire 🥰 I think in some parts in this video I didn't have my ceiling light on and that may have made it a little darker than usual. I can't change the position of my ring light, but I can play around with camera (phone) positions. My work surface is only 30cm x 40cm. Do you watch on a tv or computer? I notice that on a tv the colours and quality than on my computer.

      I usually watch these videos on my phone or tablet. If I can't see something I just zoom in a bit. It really does help. 😊❤

    Great tutorial but how can you rebake something that has resin on it?.

    • @keipfr
      @keipfr  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you Linda 🥰 Yes, you can put a resined piece in the oven AFTER it's been fully cured under the uv light. It could potentially dull the resin shine depending on different resins, but I haven't found that to be a problem. Note I put the piece back in the oven with the resin side up 😉

    • @stacybjornson9962
      @stacybjornson9962 Месяц назад

      I’ve always wondered about that - great to know!

    • @keipfr
      @keipfr  Месяц назад +1

      @@stacybjornson9962 As long as it's fully cured it's safe to put in the oven. Resin is harmful before and during curing but perfectly safe when fully cured. You can also use resin for strength by sandwiching it between layers of clay. In this video ruclips.net/video/m8_0aH0eYzA/видео.html I create a strong cuff bracelet that is thin and no need for a clasp. It was my first clay tutorial and the music is horrible so please don't judge 😅
