So glad to hear but I can tell you are pretty savvy when it comes to this! Pass it on to those around you. My goal is to train people to train people. You have this gift and will help many along the way.
ME TOO lol.... No one should have to try and piece together various videos to get going in the HF Digital Modes. Thanks for taking the time to encourage me on doing these videos. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
More to come as I plan to drop the next video (Flrig & Fldigi Setup ) by the end of next week. A lot of info on Fldigi as I have dug into the manual and listen to Emergency Management groups explain how they use it and set their rigs up. Thanks for taking the time to comment on this video. At times my mind is overloaded with all the info I have to sort through and put it a simple and logical order. Hope this is helping!!
Thanks for putting in the time and effort to get this information together. It definitely stopped me from going in circles on the internet and not finding out anything.
You're very welcome! I'm doing these so you don't have to go in circles like I did. What a waste of time. I hope to shorten your learning curve and have you hit the ground running faster than I did LOL....

Thanks Daniel for your great words of encouragement. It took weeks to just figure out how I should break this up into separate videos let alone pull this one together. Hopefully, it will be the fast track to get new Hammers up and running with the HF Modes much faster than me!
Thank you so much for putting these outstanding videos together. I have been searching high and low for a comprehensive settings for the Digirig and FT-891.

Wow, thanks John. I so appreciate your kind words my friend. Since there are so many various radios out today, I wonder if there are setup instructions (data settings on the rig) offered to others? What radios to you have? Again, thanks for taking the time to encourage me!!
@@hamradiomadesimple I have a few older (as in 20 years +) radios and a current Icom IC-705. Since the IC-705 is very popular and similar to the IC-7300, a video on how to set up the 705 would be useful. Of course, if you do not have a 705, it is hard to do a video. ;-)

I have an yaesu FT-847, it has a DB9 communication port on the back, I have tried two differant communication cables, neither worked, so I have one on order that is sold as being spefic to the FT-857, Fingers crossed. If this new cable works, will I need another cable for the sound card, or will the com port on the back of the radio, also look after the sound card? I would appreciate any information, I have been licensed for years but, I am very new to digital, and right now I know zip about it but your video was helpful. Regards Derek
Good question, not really sure about this radio since they stopped manufacturing it in 2005. I checked out the Digirig (external sound card) site and came across this as a way to get it to work for digital. Based on what I could read, it looks like this unit will work with the described setup: forum.digirig.net/t/cables-for-yaesu-ft-847/257. Let me know if this helped.
@@hamradiomadesimple Thanks for the link, it does give me some insight, but looks like I will have to wait for new cable to arrive. I need to get the computer talking to the radio before I can get to the next step. In the mean time I will watch the rest of your videos. Thanks again. Regards Derek
Ok I followed the video and even have a printout you sent me for the settings for my IC-7300 but my outgoing audio is coming out my computer laptop speakers can you ex[lain what im doing wrong?
What device did you check as your "default speaker" in Microsoft Sound System? Check something that is NOT the Audio Codex. If you still hear it, than check Microphone - Properties - Listen and uncheck "Listen To This Device". Email me at kw3kw@mail.com and I can get on the phone and trouble shoot with you. Let me know how it goes.
Ok, I figured out what is going on. In the software app, you don't have the Audio Setting correct. You most likely have your speaker set and NOT USB Audio Codex selected. Let me know if this fixed the problem.
I am really having issues with my ic 705 and rigcat connecting. I have the ic 705.xml software downloaded and placed in the device id box. Proper comports selected yet the rig control does not work. I am not using flrig for radio control instead using win4icom suite as interface to the radio.. any id3as would help. 73
