Wow yeah I love sci-fi but, Zach I really am hoping for an extended cut so I can see twenty more minutes of field harvesting. You have this technology which can clearly cross the vastness of space and the big gun is aimed by a rotary wheel??!! And am I to believe that the one ship being destroyed kills the empire? It felt as though there were maybe 50 villagers and seems like half died in the battle but the gratuitous yelling after sounds like hundreds. Idk I’m going to watch on but it seems like plot holes are massive and I want to be optimistic but feels as though nobody watched this movie full through before the Final Cut.

I'll always be a fan/defender of Snyder. Always. But even I have to admit that he is now, in my eyes, using way too many slow motion shots. The first hour was just a series of slow motion montages of the villagers harvesting. Not exaggerating. He used a 30 second slow mo shot to show someone filling up their canteen. That's where I drew my line. The second hour was the battle sequence. Basically the only action sequence longer than a minute. But it was awesome! I'm definitely noticing a trend with directors I'm a fan of taking that Netflix money and turning into Michael Bay. Hopefully they let him finish his trilogy but I don't think even Netflix will shell out more cash for another one. Too bad, it could've redeemed the the whole thing.

SFX are awesome. Sadly though there are lots of weak spots in the story and characters. I enjoyed it as a bit of light entertainment as SciFi is my favourite genre but snyder could have made this a big hit with not a lot of effort. It's not a movie I'll watch again like so many other movies but I'll watch part 3 for the SFX and hope it performs overall better than part 1 & 2.
So watch with low expectations and hopefully you won't be too disappointed.

For me it is easy to sit and give stars and write reviews. However, what Mr. Snyder has / had in mind while sharing this vision with the world is a bit lost on me at least. There is a rumor that there will be 3 more movies from this point onward. In that case it would have been better to make it a limited series. It would have given Mr. Snyder space to explore the character arcs and backstories. In these two parts the actors even though compelling have nothing to play with as their characters are lack depth. The worst part was witnessing Nemesis’s death - that character deserved much more. Scargivers own back story should have been discussed more. We expect more from Mr. Snyder. He has a standard and its hard for his fans like me to witness a grand vision amounting to almost nothing.

There is so much of the Rebel Junk that doesn't make sense.
Space travel, planets, worlds, ships, lasers etc etc but no tech to harvest grains?
    Space ships using Diesel engines?
Netflix should now ban Zach Snyder from making any more Rebel moon junk.
No character building, no emotions much attached to any characters.
Good VFX but some how Snyder's typical obsession with over the moon lense flairs and slow mo stuff.
This story have so much potential but you will only wish to have that in actual moving story. It's not there.
    Lot of good actors wasted.

This movie had so much dialogue that I was already bored out of my mind by the time the action finally started. The first hour is just straight slow dialogue.
The slow motion scenes just made the movie even more painfully slow. We had a ten minute slow motion montage of farming! Zack Snyder, making every scene slow motion makes it lose its effect.
Once the action did start, It does get a little more tolerable. But I never felt like I had a connection to any of the characters nor did I feel like there was any chemistry between them as a team. James the robot was probably the best part.

I don't know much about the books or origins of Rebel moon. I watched the first film and just was left with a feeling of having watched Saving Private Ryan vs Star Wars. And part 2 is just a total repeat of part one. How can such a powerful race of evil people from a far away galaxy have such future science, yet such simplistic machinery at the same time? Giant guns that shoot lasers, yet are operated with a hand crank? Soldiers dressed like Nazis? Incredible machines that omit thick black smoke like machines from our industrial age. Great special effects, decent enough acting and writing but overall it's just so preposterous. Oh well, if you want a sci fi film that doesn't involve much thought this is for you.

First, the special effects are great. The light-saber copies are more fun to watch in this version, with all the smoke and flames.
I like the analog look of the motherworld. Not steam punk. Just analog. This makes it seem more believable.
The story is dull, pointless and predictable. The farmers know they are going to get invaded, and are. 90% of the movie is this battle.
Soldiers and farmers keep dying... and yet more and more keep appearing. it all seems completely pointless. Even more so when the "hero" goes to the mothership and just murders every soldier she sees. then blows up the ship. then the "good" army of pirates arrive.
There is literally no story here. Army attacks farmers for.... reasons. Its not really clear. Then nearly everyone dies.
And its still fun to watch. The thing that I really was annoyed by was the "mothership" soldiers all had weapons that fired red plasma-lasers. The farmers had a mix of captured weapons... and for whatever reason, they shot orange lasers... even if they just captured soldiers weapons. This made no sense.

I was more annoyed by this film using an extremely overused "Seven samurai" plot template. It was used in star wars like 2 or 3 times. And everything happens in star wars-like universe. That's simply a cliche inside of other cliche.
And the idea of giant dreadnought (with a nuclear railgun and a batallion of space marines equiped with gunships and tanks) that arrives to collect grain that was harvested(manualy!!!) from what looks like a 10 acre field... Thats's just completly idiotic. It's like using the nuclear powered aircraft carier with 100 fully armed fighter jets on board for fish poaching🤨

So much squandered potential it just hurts. This was the most incredibly well produced film I’ve ever seen with the worst writing and casting that has ever troped the screen. A monogamous compilation of every classic sci-fi movie/show ever made. A trope playbook driven into the moon of Endoors mud with poor casting and an even worse script. Star Wars + Star Trek + sweet tooth + dune + the Witcher etc = this massive overblown film. I found myself over and over rolling my eyes at the dialogue in this film well, simultaneously being blown away by the stunts, green screen work, and CGI. So many missed marks and an overly derivative script made it much more frustrating because the film was so well visually done. So many squandered opportunities. This movie also seemed to earilee Follow the Timothee Chalamet Dune franchise quite closely but with a much less nefarious group of limp d***ed baddies. I want to say that for sheer entertainment, it’s fun, but I just can’t. Life is too short, an art is too meaningful. I’m a screenwriter that can never catch a break and I see movies like this and I said to myself, how come I couldn’t have this job? How come no one will give me a shot? I could’ve written the dialogue in this movie so much better… and yet I’m broke and these guys are rich. Life isn’t fair. This movie isn’t fair.
