  • The Treasury of Atreus, located in Mycenae, Greece, is an impressive tholos, or beehive-shaped tomb, built around 1250 BCE. This monumental structure is characterized by its enormous entrance, flanked by two pillars, leading to a 36-meter-long passageway and a circular burial chamber. The chamber's vaulted roof was a remarkable architectural feat, made using corbelled stones that created the largest uninterrupted interior space of its time.
The tomb was likely built for a powerful Mycenaean ruler, showcasing the wealth and engineering skills of the civilization. Inside, the structure once housed luxurious grave goods, though they were looted long ago. The Treasury of Atreus stands as a testament to Mycenaean craftsmanship and their ability to construct monumental burial sites that reflected the grandeur of their leaders.
In the video, I take you on a walking tour to this amazing historic monument. Enjoy!
