This seems like something I should know: Has this young man (or any of the rest of them) gone pro yet?? If so, does anyone know where they might found outside of school???
Thomas Mckenna Depends on your interpretation-sometimes it's even "star" instead of hero/darling. I think the ambiguity is part of the point though. It could be about a lover...or about a rebel hero of the singers'. No telling which!
I like this group a lot, but this isn't their best tune. It looks like they have lost the fact that this is essentially a lament. The sing-songy rendering gives a very different effect. The solo voice is great, and at the beginning of the piece, the whole effect is terrific, but then everything changes. The version on The HIghland Sessions (Mary Black, MaryAnn Kennedy, Iarla O Lionaird, etc.) is worth comparing with this version.
+Paul Conneally I take your point about these 'voices' not needing any instrumental backing. However, IMO the bodhran is the most haunting and beautiful of instruments. I think, in this case, it complemented the singing.
It's an arrangement with an instrument, they perform it always the same way. The studio recording sounds great with the bodhran, but here in this video it does sound kinda bad.
The United States LOVES you guys! Mark Waters PLEASE do a tour in the US!!! You are awesome!
oh interesting, they took it up a couple steps. man that soloist is crazy good.

Celtic woman sings star
No Kate Lenehan :(
I think Kate moved back home when she graduated. Only a handful of alums have returned for projects. (Not sure when she graduated, though.)

Fanstastic singer , the instrumentsl backing is not. Too artificial
Agree - no need for the badhran here - not with voices like that!

I'm sure your version is considerably better. Can you share us the link?
