It makes too much sense. The show has a pattern of ignoring the good opportunities around them to instead make their own one-off plot device.
Show is in the future - ignore exploring the development of the cultures.
Show can go anywhere in an instant - let's visit some ambiguous locations and trill.
Ending will be a frog
Small correction: Season 4 confirmed that the Mycelial Network didn't exist when Discovery crossed the Galactic Barrier so not quite the whole universe.
I don't understand how it isn't obvious why nobody else uses the spore drive. You'd either have to torture the endangered species of Tardigrades (much like Equinox torturing a life form to go fast) or cross-mutate your DNA with a Tardigrade (which I certainly wouldn't do!)
I’m kinda shocked they have no computers that can act as a navigator with how insanely advanced and fast they must be in the 32nd century. Even with AI and holograms.
sadly this sounds way to smart for disco to actually do this. the fact that the coming episode is already the mirror universe on i am worried that its another bottle episode that does not drive the plot foreward..
in the end the whole story with the progenitors will be another pointless scavenger hunt that leads to a unsatifying end. I can not see that the writers are cabable to write a intresting overarching story so the end will probably be Discovery will sacfrice himself to save the universe as the seasons before.. and thats it.. they need to have some kind of open end because the starfleet acedemy series is set in the Disco future with Tilly.
That was my theory how the flavors destroyed all life in the galaxy however many billions of years ago. Good mate just as much sense to use it to start life. Though I do have to agree with Sam, kind of the idea of an alien Johnny Appleseed is more appealing than just pushing a button!
It would be really cool if they tie the spore drive to some other species or lore before the show ends.
Why should we care if Stamets doesn't feel important? He is just a member of the crew, as any other (well, apart from Super Michael, of course). I wouldn't be surprised to find that, actually, Burnham has been a "disguised" member of the Progenitors' race all along.
i bet at the end of the season they will use that progenitor tech to give everyone a connection and therefor making it so that anyone can use the spore drive

It does make sense, .... so its NOT gonna be in Discovery! :)
this idea is not dissapointing enough to be in discovery
