If the Reds pitching staff were not so busted up with injuries they might have been a contender!!! Hunter Green and Nick Lodolo to name a couple! Reds have other key players that are injured also!!! I still feel like the Reds can pull things together for next year!!!
A lot of those called strikes were borderline. Got to remember the box we see on television is like a reference. The balls that show up barely outside that “should” be called a ball might go the other way. Also got to remember that the ball is coming into the strike zone at 90+ mph from 60 feet away. I can forgive a ball that might be half a ball outside of the zone being called a strike. What I cannot forgive are the obvious balls that are still called strikes or the strikes that are called balls.
Try it sometime. Umpire a little league baseball game sometime. It's a lot of pressure to make the right call instantly. We have the luxury of slo-mo, multiple looks from different angles; digital frame for reference. That guy behind the plate has none of that. Today's umpires are probably better at it than in all of baseball history.
It may not make much sense to argue the strike zone, but good that Bell actually did stand up for his players here. ridiculous calls.
Its only a matter of time before MLB adopts the computerized strike zone like the minors do.
One thing you can say for sure is Bell always stands up for his players.
Never get tired of winning against the Saint Louis Cardinals.

First and best reds fan
So that’s 3 consecutive road wins in 3 cities in 3 days? Nice.

Umpires really need to be held accountable for horrible calls. I’m a fan for AI calling B&S with an umpire with an earpiece relaying the call.
These umpires behind the plate absolutely suck at calling balls and strikes night in and night out. It's ridiculous

Hopefully, MLB adopts the minor leagues' balls and strikes challenge procedure. It looks very effective to me

not really tho, if you look at the ump scorecards, even the worst games are barely under 90% accuracy
@@brekkoh Who's scoring them?
Great game hopefully reds make playoffs probably not.
just kick some dirt onto the ump's cleats
"Let's Go!" Um, where? See that all the time, someone yelling "Let's Go" but they never say where.

That umpire is blind. TERRIBLE calls. He needs to be fired.
Fired is a bit extreme. Maybe do some training and then get back out there. Calm down.
@@CincyTurk Look at him again. His hair is white and snow. He is too old and obviously blind.
Dude was horrible the entire game
@@Wolfpak765 I agree.
@@CincyTurk Not sure training will help. The guy looked pretty old but I do thank him for his service for the Union during the Civil War. LOL
just a brutal strike zone oof
They were obviously concerned we would miss Angel Hernandez
