If you really love the Characters in Breath of the Wild you'll probably like this, just keep in mind that it is not a prequel to BotW at all
I feel like you are being way too harsh on Nintendo. There is easily enough content to warrant a "new" full Mario Party release. We got a brand new 2D Metroid which was assumed dead for over a decade. We got Advance Wars and WarioWare. And a great Zelda trailer.
For me, the direct was amazing with getting more on BoTW2 and smash dlc. We got the DR collection finally announced for Switch. Fatal Frame 5 doesn't have to languish as a Wiiu digital exclusive anymore. Seeing brand new Mario party with online and remake of a dead franchise was also great. The direct had great pacing and I would say barely any filler announcements.
Ah didn't know the announced Fatal Frame was from the Wii-U. Wish they'd bring Fatal Frame 4 to the Switch as well. I remember only playing it from an emulator with the fan translation patch, and it was a janky experience trying to do some required waggle input with only a keyboard and mouse, so I gave up.
I thought this direct was really good. Even the games that aren’t for me look like quality games. Highlights for me: smash announcement, Monkey ball remakes, Mario party superstars, Metroid Dread and Botw 2! Wario Ware looks good but I think the game doesn’t take advantage of the switches hardware features.
Respect your opinion. But I've had enough of generic zombie and generic shooter games myself (I'm a newer fan of Halo, so I'll check the new one out i think). There was 2 or 3 others that looked good but I'll have to look them up.
Overall I felt that the Xbox and Bethesda showcase was much better than the Nintendo Direct. Don't get me wrong there were some good games which were shown today and I was hoping to see more around the 35th Anniversary of Legend of Zelda but it wasn't to be.
@@mepe6809 Hopefully in the run up towards October we will get a Nintendo direct soley dedicated to the Legend of Zelda with lots of reveals and surprises.
It's 2 full absolute classics rebuilt from the ground up... It's TOTALLY worth full price. If you ACTUALLY love Advance Wars, you'd buy it so that Nintendo actually makes more AW instead of killing it off for another 15+ years.
@@Cooe. I'm going to wait for a sale or price drop. I love the Advance Wars games but 2 GBA remakes aren't worth $79.99 CDN ($91 with tax) in my opinion. I own the originals so I don't feel bad not buying this collection right away
I loved it. New Metroid, new Mario Party, new WarioWare, more BOTW2 news, more Hyrule Warriors DLC news, a new Smash character, and more Mario Golf news.
The Mario Party game isn’t new, it’s just old content reprised into a “best of” collection. BOTW 2 didn’t get any “news” just another vague teaser. The new Smash character has a niche appeal. Age of Calamity DLC and Mario Golf were things we already knew about and not much was expanded on them either; easily could’ve been a twitter post. WarioWare and Metroid Dread were the only highlights for me; which is sad. I’m usually pretty forgiving when it comes to these directs, but this one was just depressing for me.
@@XenaticLuxo Nintendo in general capitalizes a lot on nostalgia, though. I'd say that Smash character reveal was alright, there's also Advance Wars which was missing in action for a long time. BotW 2 did get a potential release date, with it being slated for 2022, so that's gotta be something. It was overall pretty good, I just feel like people feel depressive or negative about Nintendo Directs just because they didn't have specifically what they wanted.
@@superplayerex2431 Fair take. My main concern pertains to Nintendo being stagnant in the creative department. Based off this direct, nothing here really pushed any series forward accept for Metroid and WarioWare. They didn't show enough BOTW2 for me to really be up and arms about it, either.
@@XenaticLuxo Yeah, I can definitely agree with that. Nintendo is pretty stale at the moment when it comes to new projects, they aren't really pushing any boundaries here.
I still remember when Egoraptor making fun of everything wrong with Skyward Sword, and then later said Breath of the Wild pretty much fixed everything he said.
You could say the same thing in reverse though. Where BOTW sucks shit, Skyward Sword kicks ass, & vice-versa. Ala BOTW had the worst dungeons in the entire series whereas Skyward Sword's were the series' best by a damn mile. SS is way too linear, while BOTW is crazy free & open. And so on and so forth. They are just two way different (but both awesome!) takes on Zelda.
I'm just pretty bummed that there wasn't Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. Given the state of Toon Link games, I'm fairly convinced at this point that this version of the character, along with Tetra and others, is not coming back.
@@Mdgr_zolom I am one of the rare few that actually like them. They were my first Zelda games. To me they were an amazing adventure, but to most of the community they are the worst in the series and need to be stripped of everything that made them unique to be worth playing. But I'll doubt we'll see them. Some fans think so little of them that they've suggested porting them to mobile devices. Aonuma said that no other Zelda games are in development. I doubt we'll see any Toon Link stuff for a long time, if ever again.
@@WasatchWind Yeah they are up there with my favourites as well. Yeah that was pretty disheartening to hear that they weren't working on other Zelda games, maybe they just want to get Skyward Sword out before they announce anything else.
For me this was by far the best direct, I am not that big into shooters so while I can admit to xbox show quality it was not for me, but this nintendo direct has SO many games I have to buy that my wallet is in actual pain. Nintendo saved E3 for me
I wish more people shared this sentiment, just because certain games don’t appeal to you personally doesn’t mean it won’t be something that other people will be excited about!
Two years for Project Dread? The upcoming Metroid Dread is actually a revival of a Metroid Fusion sequel that has been rumored since 2004, approximately.
And considering Aonuma said that no other Zelda games were in development, I feel like at this point Toon Link is dead. He's not getting a port of Wind Waker, definitely not a remake of the DS games, and no new original title either.
as someone who's mainly interested in Zelda... I was disappointed. That 20 second teaser for BOTW 2 woulda been fine... had they shown me some other stuff I was hoping for, for Zelda's 35th. Like, I've never played Wind Waker and Twilight Princess... and i was hoping for a Switch port. Nope, not this time. (and maybe not for a while?) Ah well... i'm just accepting the fact that if it wasn't for Mario or Zelda, Nintendo just isn't my bag.
Nintendo was not the best SHOW, but it was certainly close. Xbox was generally considered to be better since Xbox showed more games, most of them next-gen and visually stunning, and many coming to Gamepass. BOTW sequel was certainly a highlight of the show, but just one anticipated reveal does not make a show better than the other showing compelling games back to back. If we used that logic, we would say that SGF was better than Xbox just because they show the much anticipated Elden Ring.
I actually like the older Famicom / SuperFamicom Wars aesthetic but I'll take what I can get. Love the wars titles. Edit: I also hope Fatal Frame 5 isn't censored. And physical releases for all! =0)
best part for me was the project zero port (its even going to all other plattforms!). do we already know if we get a physical version(on any platform)? and are we getting the uncensored version this time?
I was underwhelmed almost entirely with Nintendo. Even the Zelda trailer was disappointing for me. I am excited about the game. But, this didn't do anything to get me more excited. And the list of other games they showed did nothing to even tempt me to buy a single one. I played the original AW and really enjoyed it. But, I don't know that is will hold my attention now. Thankful Microsoft had a good showing... because up to this point, that is all I've been impressed with.
If they'd just shown Metroid Dread and nothing else but various Nintendo employees flipping us off for 35 minutes I would still be happy. If I weren't a Metroid fan, though, yeah not really much here.
Not a rumor. It's been confirmed to be in development for years and was supposed to be on the DS originally. Been stop and go ever since and it's nearly upon us.
@@Griffnix It could've been cancelled and then revived later at some point, and there were never any definitive leaks that could prove it's existence. Leaks are basically rumors as well, there's always a chance they might turn out wrong.
Lots of great games honestly...Metroid, Zelda, Advance Wars, Fatal Frame, Wario Ware, Mario Party (a collection, but still a lot better than the one already on Switch right now), Super Monkey Ball,... That was a great Direct in my opinion...the only way you can be disappointed is if you expect to see all the big Nintendo franchises in a single Direct...but then you're probably disappointed by every single direct. I'm really worried about Bayonetta 3 though...they keep saying development is going well but not being able to show a single image in almost 4 years prove the opposite to me....and it's always Platinum Games who mention it, never Nintendo.
One small correction: People who actually play fighting games are excited for Kazuya, just like they were for Terry. It's the people who don't play fighting games that will be confused or don't care. As a Kazuya main, I am very happy.
There were way more games I care about for Nintendo than Microsoft so I'd rank it above them this year. Breath of the Wild 2 alone blew way what anyone else had to show.
I can't believe what a great show this was. Pretty much everything I wanted. The fact that people think that Xbox and it's 12 out of 30 FPS games had "more variety" is nuts. This was the show of the week easy.
Definitely a good presentation although a bit too many ports announcements in my opinion, so Xbox win in my eyes since they announced way more new games. Still the new games that are announced are pretty huge, no Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 is big downer though.
@@Alaois see, this is the problem with people, no where did I say Microsoft "won E3" nor did I try to imply it, the meaning behind my comment is that him saying Nintendo's showcase was better, but based on my anecdotal data, more people thought otherwise. So, why not put up a poll to compare the two.
Kazuya in smash, Metroid Dread and the Zelda game and watch are highlights of the direct. Overall E3 and Summer games fest seems unnecessary when game companies and publishers could release this information on their own.
But why? 30 Seconds of BOTW2, Metroid Dread and a shit ton of ports of older games make this show amazing? I genuinely don't understand why. Was it ok? Yes. Was it the best? Hell nah.
Metroid and then BOTW2 is looking good.. and maybe a couple others look interesting.. There was a lot of content but the problem is lack of big hitters. Mostly rehashed ideas, remakes and ports but no big franchise stuff or new franchise stuff with wow factor.. mostly hold over games to keep us busy until Zelda .
Yep same, all we got for nintendo is botw 2 q dlc character for a 3 year old fighting game and a 2d metroid game instead of prime. I'm honestly thinking of selling my switch after I beat botw 2 because nothing else is interesting imo
I was going to love this Nintendo Direct, but when they said they didn’t have any other campaign or games planned for the nintendo switch regarding the zelda anniversary, it really bummed me out.. I almost wish they hadn’t say anything about it
Gaming insiders were confidently saying TP HD and WW HD ports are coming, so maybe it just won't be apart of the anniversary. Also they are saying the same thing about an OOT remake.
I think it’s time to think of Bayo 3 like it started development after Astral Chain released. Platinum has a ton of projects and it’s only be a couple years since Astral Chain released. We could see it in September or in 2024.
Without a doubt the best E3 show. Still the only reason why I gave it a "B" instead of an "A" was the lack of the rumored *new "2D Donkey Kong"* game (which I believe to be true). Other than that, if felt like it needed one more "big hit title" (like a new Mario game, or even a "Mario Galaxy 1 & 2" port bundle) to make it feel like a complete direct. Great show overall tho!
B+ for me. It was a solid showing. I mean how could you be upset with Metroid and Zelda in the same direct? In addition, SMT looking amazing, advance wars coming back, and Wario Ware. I’m very satisfied!
@4:20 - Cruis'n Blast is actually an arcade game port. Pretty fun game, but relatively easy all around. You can typically find this machine next to Mario Kart Arcade in your local arcade spot.
I'm a Nintendo fan and I think it sucked. We got a short trailer for BotW2 with no story or plot or anything, and the rest was short news on games which were announced months to years ago, and 3rd party games which will run poorly and have been out for upwards of 3 years on other consoles. Microsoft was the only decent showcase, and I like them last out of the big 3.
Wow, the best showcase is the one from the company that you're a fan of more?! YOU DON'T SAY?! 😲 In all seriousness, I'm a fan of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. And I think that both Nintendo and Microsoft had equally good showings. Aside from BotW2, Metroid Dread was probably my favourite announcement of E3, along with Elden Ring and Halo Infinite's multiplayer being F2P and looking pretty good. Had Nintendo showed more for Zelda's anniversary, such as a collection featuring TWWHD/TPHD, or a new Four Swords game, et cetera, I probably would have given the slight edge to them. But as it stands, I personally feel like it's a tie, as Microsoft had a very strong showing.
It really seems to depend on who you ask. I personally liked Nintendo's E3 best because I'm not a fan of dark gritty FPS games or Bethesda games in general but for those who are, Microsoft's definitely delivered. But yeah enjoy what you like and don't apologize or get pissed off at others for it.

Getting to 100% only took about 65-70 hours for me so it's not super long if you enjoy it. If you really love the Characters in Breath of the Wild you'll probably like this, just keep in mind that it is not a prequel to BotW at all
@@jeremyroberts8822 It’s very fun! I’m glad they are adding new enemies because sometimes the enemies would get repetitive. I recommend the game!
I feel like you are being way too harsh on Nintendo. There is easily enough content to warrant a "new" full Mario Party release. We got a brand new 2D Metroid which was assumed dead for over a decade. We got Advance Wars and WarioWare. And a great Zelda trailer.
Nintendo did alright. They have some games ill be buying for sure. A good 7/10 for me.
Personally, the only good shows was Msoft and Nintendo.
Wario Ware looks good but I think the game doesn’t take advantage of the switches hardware features.
only speaking for myself here, any day with botw2 footage is a good day.
A good presentation and a good direct, but I still think Microsoft's showing was better.
I love advance wars but 60 bucks is to damn high especially when you consider Diablo 2 remake is only 40 bucks.
It's 2 full absolute classics rebuilt from the ground up... It's TOTALLY worth full price. If you ACTUALLY love Advance Wars, you'd buy it so that Nintendo actually makes more AW instead of killing it off for another 15+ years.
@@Cooe. nostalgia just seems silly to me, but to each their own.
@@Cooe. I'm going to wait for a sale or price drop. I love the Advance Wars games but 2 GBA remakes aren't worth $79.99 CDN ($91 with tax) in my opinion. I own the originals so I don't feel bad not buying this collection right away
I really liked the Direct. Standouts for me were Advanced Wars, Metriod Dread and SMT V. Great showing.
@@XenaticLuxo You actuality do sound very forgiving
Lol it'd be funny if breath of the wild 2 ends up being what skyward sword should have been.
it looks like a different beast all together.
I still remember when Egoraptor making fun of everything wrong with Skyward Sword, and then later said Breath of the Wild pretty much fixed everything he said.
Skyward Sword is great!
@@jackthememer1186 Never really understood the hate that people have with Skyward sword. I bought it and quite liked it. Fun to play through
You could say the same thing in reverse though.
Ok
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks ports to switch! Probably pretty unlikely though.
Nintendo saved E3 for me
WTF!!! A NEW Metroid is a big damn deal!!! I am freakin pumped abt that and people are just glossing over it!!😒
I think I would rate it a B-. A lot of it wasn’t for me, but there were still announcements that I appreciated for gaming!
I honestly didn't think it was all that good of a presentation. A new ok looking Metroid and more Botw 2 footage, just ok for me.
Disappointing that there will not be a Zelda 35th anniversary collection. I had high hopes for something like that...
So wanted windwaker
And considering Aonuma said that no other Zelda games were in development, I feel like at this point Toon Link is dead. He's not getting a port of Wind Waker, definitely not a remake of the DS games, and no new original title either.
They might do a seperate Direct for that, like they did with the Mario 35th anniversary.
Super Monkey Ball got a bigger anniversary celebration than Zelda. This is a weird timeline
@@TheLegoMaster261 No, Aonuma confirmed that no other Zelda games are in development 😔
If NIntendo won E3... the bar was really really really fucking low... it was pretty unremarkable
This direct had something for everyone
@Nathan Featherstone ok
@Nathan Featherstone u must be fun at parties
as someone who's mainly interested in Zelda...
(and maybe not for a while?)
Ah well... i'm just accepting the fact that if it wasn't for Mario or Zelda, Nintendo just isn't my bag.
Not me either
@Nathan Featherstone what they mean is that you like to ruin everyone’s mood because they didn’t have what YOU wanted
If we used that logic, we would say that SGF was better than Xbox just because they show the much anticipated Elden Ring.
xbois in chat were so mad Nintendo saved and won e3 again lol. People keep saying Nintendo is for kids but that's way better than the xbox manchild.
I actually like the older Famicom / SuperFamicom Wars aesthetic but I'll take what I can get. Love the wars titles.
Edit: I also hope Fatal Frame 5 isn't censored. And physical releases for all! =0)
I thought metroids reveal was absolutely amazing
How I'd rank this E3:
1. Microsoft
2. Nintendo
3. Having Kidney Stones
4. Everyone Else
100% agree.
Xbox and Nintendo where the best
best part for me was the project zero port (its even going to all other plattforms!). do we already know if we get a physical version(on any platform)? and are we getting the uncensored version this time?
I was wondering both of those things as well. Is it still censored? And I want a physical copy.
Elden Ring was great at summer games fest and Devolver was entertaining as always. But otherwise this was a very disappointing E3 in general
@@teehundeart I think it was pretty good. It seems like people call E3 disappointing every year. Maybe you always expect too much.
If they'd just shown Metroid Dread and nothing else but various Nintendo employees flipping us off for 35 minutes I would still be happy. If I weren't a Metroid fan, though, yeah not really much here.

Metroid Dread was a rumor for so long and to see that the rumors were real is absolutely delightful.
Nintendo "won" E3 for me hands down.
Not a rumor. It's been confirmed to be in development for years and was supposed to be on the DS originally. Been stop and go ever since and it's nearly upon us.

Metroid DREAD looks great, I'm not gonna lie. I was impressed.
I'd give the edge to Microsoft personally, as someone who likes microsoft and nintendo

I can't believe what a great show this was. Pretty much everything I wanted. The fact that people think that Xbox and it's 12 out of 30 FPS games had "more variety" is nuts. This was the show of the week easy.
Lmao Xbox had plenty of variety. Shooters, platformers, a strategy game, a driving game.... but yeah, barely any variety. You're an idiot
Definitely a good presentation although a bit too many ports announcements in my opinion, so Xbox win in my eyes since they announced way more new games.
Still the new games that are announced are pretty huge, no Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 is big downer though.

@@jakevaron2320 I respect yours too. Xbox hosted the only other presentation with more than 1-2 things to get excited for.

Nintendo C+. Xbox B. But I have so many games on GamePass and Switch, I’m good straight into 2022
It’s a draw or pretty close to it. I think Nintendo would have won outright with a BOTW 2 release date and Microsoft with a Halo Infinite release date

It kinda works both ways. I think the xbox show was great if you're sold on it already.
