As a kid in the late 1970's, like many, I was bullied, lost and felt hopeless until I found music. But it wasn't until I found Van Halen that I genuinely felt uplifted. Something in that magical guitar spoke to me like nothing else. The combination of drum beats and guitar licks felt so perfect. Every riff, every guitar solo and every note flowed into the next flawlessly as if I had written them myself. As a kid I memorized every guitar solo to be played millions of times on air guitar. All through my junior high and high school years in the early eighties I lived every note on every album and attended every tour. I purchased every album on cassette, record and later CD. I belonged to the fan club, ordered t-shirts, posters and the =vh= necklace hang proudly around my neck. I never had the privilege of meeting my hero's Eddie and Alex, but the impact they had on my was profound. Their music gave me the confidence to face my fears, rise above the things that held me back and I eventually became a singer of my own band, recorded, toured and lived my own rock and roll dream. For that, I want to say THANK YOU! RIP Eddie, I look forward to reading your book Alex.
