Was happy to see Glenn get back into the starting lineup vs Nova. Some kids may have sulked after getting benched like that. Rick and staff put together a group of very mature young men.
The Butler game was a terrific win for the Redmen. Not much to dissect or complain about when it comes to the players. I have been commenting for a month here that Conway and Dunlap were the team's best shooters. Some disagreed with me but it is clear that these guys are bigtime outside guns (that NEED to play regularly!). Happy Brady got his chance to show his goods BUT, where was Conway---BENCHED! WHY? Pitino continues to have no fluidity or consistency w/regard to substitutions. Conway plays smart, hard defense. He hustles all over the court and he can shoot the lights out. He plays significant mins for 3-gms and is then benched? HOW does that make any sense? Pitino constantly preaches about defense yet he doesn't play Conway AND, even more mind-numbing, he leaves his best defensive player, Taylot, on the bench for the entire game. Pitino's coaching (at St John's) continues to leave me asking how he is so revered---he simply doesn't practice what he preaches and that is most concerning moving forward. The Redman's best defensive players are: Taylor, Alleyne, Luis, Conway and Soriano. How about putting them on the floor together for a spell? We'll get a W in Nova if Pitino brings his A-game. Nova is very much overrated. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the comment! I totally agree with being puzzled by the Taylor situation. I think the erratic substitution pattern can be attributed to the fact that Coach P runs an unbelievably rigorous practice schedule that we are not privy to. He likes to ride a hot hand and changes his lineups based off of who is practicing well. It’s confusing at times, for sure, but we don’t know what is going on at those practices. Were playing well so I won’t question it
Great job, Cole! Who’s Pat Kane? 😂
Our fearless leader! Haha thank you for watching. We had a blast
Good job pinch hitting for Pat. Good point about shutting down star players. Puzzling why Taylor didn't play. Bring it to Philadelphia!
