  • In this small building, Jay has transformed his workshop into his dream workshop. It took some time to gut and rebuild, but here we are with a new workshop, new name, and new videos coming. I'd like to welcome everyone to Jay's Creative Edge and our new workshop, where we will be making all sorts of things from wood charcuterie board and other wood working, arcades to coin rings. Without further ado, Lets get to it!

This book is awesome if you're thinking of making some cool stuff for your garden. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- It has tons of plans for all kinds of things, like storage sheds, picnic tables, single garage plans, dog kennels, and garden swings. I'm hooked on this book forever. Thanks, Ryan! There's so much content in these Shed Plans. It's amazing! For long-term service, it seems like it's worth spending a bit more money. Ryan, you're so generous to share all this info with us, and at such a low price.

I like this because I have a 10 X 16 shed that I want to set up a little to do work in. Not just woodwork but metalwork and welding and still be able to put some of my yard stuff in. I just built an 8 x 10 metal shed to store my JD riding lawnmower and bigger equipment to free up space in the 10 x 16.

Love the older machinery! Used to work on a Powermatic 66 back when they were green! Back in the day, I ran my custom furniture company from a one car garage. I had a full-sized panel saw on one wall, the compressor up in the rafters, and everything else on wheels including the dust collection, table saw, a 15" floor model planer, and a floor model jointer. Later I had a shop in a basement with a 7' high ceiling! I am currently building a 36' x 48' woodshop mostly by myself. It will be nice to finally have some space, but the small workshop is definitely doable!

I built a 12 x 16 workshop over the summer and am still trying to organize it so when I saw the title to your video I just HAD to watch it. Lots of good ideas love the french cleats I've been considering trying that and from what I saw here I'm sold. I put in what you could call a mezzanine by building a shelf out from the top plate of the walls over the benches and attaching them to the trusses overhead. Got a lot of good storage that way. I'll be back to see what else you come up with. Thanks for the tip on cleaning up rust I have several old cast iron tools and after working on my table saw for a couple of days with steel wool, steel brushes, and sandpaper I've got to give this stuff a try.

That shop is awesome. I bet it has a pretty cozy feeling when you’re working in there in the winter too.

Yes I am thinking hard about more heat efficiency, unfortunately don’t use it as much in the winter

@@thevintagevu Nothing a little insulation can’t fix! I saw that little heater, I’ve got one too. It works as long as the place is insulated and mostly closed off

I love the shop. GREAT job fitting everything in there. Very efficient. I just moved and my shop is in a 2 car garage now, but my previous shop was a 12x8 shed that I built in the old backyard. I was able to fit a table saw, miter saw, tower bandsaw, planer, jointer and dust collection in there along with all the other tools. It looked a bit like yours but not as finished. Great job man.

After cleaning the rust off of the scroll saw table you can use a block of paraffin wax and rub it into the clean table and keep the rust at bay, it also makes the table nice and slick so the wood moves easily when cutting. My dad used it for years on all of his table saws and any other metal in the shop. Be sure to rub some in the guide rails also.

What a great guy! Humble, creative and I LOVE the tool restoration. I would LOVE to learn how you restore a motor. We just moved and I sold most of my old shop before we left and being a poor organic small farmer, trying to afford new big power tools for the new place is rather daunting. And truthfully, I would like to buy old-time tools and restore them because they are BEASTS!!! But I don't know how to overhaul a motor and knowing why the head wobbles, etc...

Thank you for kind words and watching! I have gotten lucky with most motors in working condition, what exactly do you mean by head wobble? What tool are you referring to?
