Time to get the government out of personal decisions of individuals fixing up there property? The governents just want more money and are reluctant to raising taxes. The permit office should offer low cost options that encourage there use. Insurance companies should require permits to protect their interests.
This was bs. The only reason the violation was removed is she went public with it. Beware if you have to replace a broken window, the Fee Force will get you!
Miami Dade is a mafia county, they don't follow the law when they feel they can benefit, and strongarm you abusing their authority every single time. Been there, suffered that, gave them the finger and moved away.
Why would a permit need to be pulled when one for the initial roof replacement permit was already issued to do the job? This was all covered under the warranty and initial permit. They were just trying to get more money is all!
Jesus that’s wild. We don’t have to pull permits for full roof replacements here. Unless you’re altering the structure it’s not required for a permit. Even plumbing or electrical repairs.. unless changing the system. I couldn’t imagine replacing a 2sq patch of roof for wind damage and needing a permit 😂
That is not government, it is abuse of power. What is ironic is that Florida is a Republican state, and Republicans are supposed to be about government staying out of people's personal lives. Talk about a truly good use for the term RINO. Also, $800 for a permit?!!! The purpose of permits is to ensure that things are done well to ensure the safety of the homeowner. The last time I needed a permit - to do a full finishing of a basement by myself in a different state - the permit was about $40 and included 3 inspector visits, 1 to give advice on how to meet code and the other two to check progress before closing in the walls and after it was all done. Needless to say, it was trivial to pass the inspections because they made sure I would know everything needed. Now, THAT is a permit worth paying for, and from a real Republican state.
The bigger problem is why does the government always go after the home owner and let the business do WTF ever they feel like? If permits were required, go after the professionals who should have known that, not the homeowners.
as a rule of thumb, anything that can be seen from the road by someone needs a permit, anything indoors is nobodys business especially the government, unless youre defective.
Shame on that county!!! So, if she did not get the TV station involved, she would have to pay over $800 for an unnecessary permit. Shame on the county for trying to fleece her, especially, when she had given them the exact same details of the size of repair, warranty, etc!
The main reason they want permits is so they can tax you for improving your home. Add a deck or front porch and your taxes go up. Add a shed in the back yard you taxes go up. It's not enough you already pay taxes they want to micro tax you to death.
People can't grasp the truth that they cannot own property. That is not your home. That home belongs to the government and you will pay them rent they call property taxes or you'll be evicted and their home re-rented to someone else. You also cannot make modifications to the governments property without permission and paying a fee. Once you accept that you are a slave to these people you'll start to see things in the proper perspective.
What a rediculous country. Do you also need a permit to cut your hair? Paint your car? Mow the lawn? Repairing something that is broken is restoring it in the original state. Why would the state steal your money for that?
It is not about libs either. Florida is Republican, and they ignore and violate their own state statutes too when it is convenient for lazy workers in public offices. The best you can do is pick carefully where to live, or leave the state altogether.
If it wasnt a news channel employee, the city would be strong arming the owner. America is sick. Lord help us all.
I have seen plenty of reports where non-news employees get help after the media reports on it too.
A permit was already pulled when the new roof was put up. Needing a permit to repair it, while still under warranty is outright greed and corruption.
Trigger-happy city hall as usual

its crazy you need permisson just to fix your home lol
Government taking control with more and more.

Permits are for a certain time period
@@JuanGelogoWow, in Southern Commifornia you are allowed to repair 25% of your roof without a permit.
Someone turned her in to the city.
Absolutely!
Always check for yourself. My sister had a deck removed because builder didn't pull a permit.
Or just stand up for yourself and leave it.
It's kind of crazy how when the news gets involved everything goes away😂😂😂😂
You always need to check. No matter what the contractor says.
Lovely. Land of the free🤣
Ha!!
Remember one thing. The government always gets their share. Always.
@@Thunder_Dome45 because dumb Americans allow it

You don't need a permit if you'll use a rifle.
County should have been consulted for a roof repair of that size
