All these 2nd generation boy groups made me fall in love with kpop sincerely. Shinee, Super Junior, 2pm and then I got into Beast/Highlight and Big Bang and many more like 3rd generation kpop. I was so happy with the groups I fell in love with because they are still so amazing and they always try their best and are such genuine guys. It is a little weird with the new generation but without the old there wouldn't be the kpop we have today.
Well ateez isn't wierd in that sense. At least i don't think. You should check them out. It's usually the ones that have to earn a name for themselves that are genuine (most times)
I literally screamed when infinite came on because outside of 2pm and Big Bang they were my favorite group, especially our sassy maknae Sungjong, aka lemon candy (iykyk)

It's obvious there would be a generation that's iconic and that would pave the way for all the others, and that's gen 2. 3rd gen was the one to reach the whole world, but it was the late 1st and 2nd that made plans and started building that road, and that's why they're royalty
