  • Like last year, I've recorded the pull-down of Albert Evans' Boston Fair, but it is a rather unusual pull-off for the October Fair this year. I didn't record many lorries pulling off Central Park and into Wide Bargate and John Adams Way because most of them were stuck in the mud due to the ground in the Central Park becoming more softer and muddier than usual due to the flooding caused by Storm Babet, and it didn't help with the fair having to close 3 days out of the 8 days due to the aftermath of the storm and the rain, which ultimately caused the ground to become a ploughed field because of this. A tractor did come to help pull the lorries around the field, as well as Charlie Appleton's winch lorries, but eventually recovery lorries had to be hired in to help haul the lorries out as Charlie's winch lorries were not strong enough to haul the loads out. I really do feel sorry for the showmen and women who have had to put up with this rather difficult pull down this year due to the ground problem in Central Park's field, but rest assured, all of the fairground loads and caravans all eventually got out safe and sound by the 31st October, but it has left the field in a terrible state. I just hope that Boston Borough Council will see sense to let showman Albert Evans set his fair up in their car parks next time if he decides to come back to Boston next October.

It only happened because of the flooding, that's why. Thankfully Boston Borough Council have seen sense to allow Albert Evans to set up his fair in the Wide Bargate and Cattle Market Car Parks when he comes back in October next year.

Great video Sam, yes it was a very muddy ground for them to pull off on.

Hopefully Boston Borough Council will see sense to allow Albert Evans to pull his fair into the Wide Bargate and Cattle Market Car Parks next year like what Boston Borough Council already do with their Boston May Fair event, considering that setting up in Central Park has been criticised by both Boston residents and the showmen and women themselves.

Modern lorries are not designed to be driven across muddy fields, i wouldn't want the bill to put that park right!

It's not normally that muddy in Central Park when the rides pull off; it's only got into this mess because of the flooding caused by Storm Babet that made the ground muddier than usual. It's not the showmen's fault that they've had to set up in the park; it was Boston Borough Council's fault that they've allowed the fair to be set up in Central Park a few days before Storm Babet was forecast. The showmen and women have done a great job making the best situation in trying to pull-off in this very muddy ground that no one would've predicted would've happened after Storm Babet even though the ground was more muddier than usual. Just be thankful that all the lorries all got out safe and sound.😉 Hopefully Boston Borough Council will now see sense to allow Albert to set his October fair up in the Wide Bargate and Cattle Market Car Parks next year like what he previously requested to do before and now the residents of Boston are requesting this too.

So it’s the councils fault! Lol if the fair had any common sense they would of known it would turn into a shit show na they just want the revenue sod the damage

@@treecutter1806 The fair did know that it was going to become a mud pit this year because showman Albert Evans told Boston Borough Council time and time again in the past that his fair should go into the Wide Bargate and Cattle Market Car Parks like Boston May Fair because of the risk of lorries getting stuck in the grass at this time of the year, but the council kept saying no because they were concerned about losing money in the car parks just for one week when equally they would've had the ground rent money anyway for the event. Thankfully the council have now seen sense after the excessive damage to the ground caused by the flooding, and Albert is more than happy to pay the council to repair the field. Don't be nasty to the showmen and women, it's not their fault that they've had to set up in Central Park!

Yeah that one was a great watch, even Shaun's wreckers had to be pulled by the tractor so they could do the winching.
