      Speed limits on highways like that feel so silly. Like they make sense on highways with a lot hills/curves that limit visibility, and surface streets have lots of vehicles/pedestrians/bikes going every which way. The speed on wide open highways should just be based on passing: you can go as fast as you want, but must slow down when approaching another vehicle so you don't blow their doors off.

    • @ScottMeister
      @ScottMeister Год назад +5

      And if your engine dies, you won't have the same braking power even though you're *STANDING* on the pedal. That's why a lot of vehicles keep rolling along. Not to mention a snapped brake (system) line so you have *NO* brakes!

    • @buckykattnj
      @buckykattnj Год назад +9

      @@ScottMeister Since 1966, hydraulic brake systems are separated into two circuits... a loss of fluid in one system leaves the other system functional... however, due to the stacked nature of the circuits in the master cylinder, the pedal will fall closer to the floor... but it is still functional. Additionally, the parking brake can be used as a brake, if needed. Also, downshifting, even an automatic transmission, will slow the car.
      As far as power brake boost, should the engine die, there is enough residual vacuum in the system to give you a few more power assisted pumps. Quite frankly, since it's not 1958 anymore, I find modern vehicles are easy to brake, even without power assist. I am hardly the picture of health, anyone having trouble pumping the brakes without power assist should probably see a doctor.

The black car pulls up to turn, realizes they can't turn yet, also realizes they are now blocking you, and backs up to both let you pull out and turn in to clear the road, but you're still just going to call them stupid? They probably couldn't tell that they couldn't pull in behind the white car until they were already blocking you, and they immediately got out of your way. There was no hit, the biker stopped before and fell over and did not hit the SUV. Which also explains why exchanging insurance would be futile as there is no impact there is no responsibility of anything to be covered by either's insurance. Biker will have to claim with their own insurance and pay the deducible.
      And if there was an impact it would be on the biker anyway, so if the SUV driver doesn't report he actually getting off from additional penalty and paying out more.

    Zipper merges don’t suck when people use them as intended but unfortunately the two that I deal with regularly (one every day on my way home from work) are in areas where drivers typically have the me first mentality and refuse to follow along with the every other car alternation buy getting in the right and purposely speeding up that side (if they can) until the absolute last second and cutting everyone else off who’s already merged properly (even when they don’t have the right of way to do so) so I’ve taken to using the right lane and merging as intended to try and avoid being blindsided by the idiots as much as possible.

    If you were driving the same speed as traffic in front of you and did not stop accelerating when you were going less than 25, i bet they don't pull that move. you get bonus points for speeding up to 34 to try to prevent the pass before slowing back down to under 25. Middle finger warranted.

      Unless that car was a Miata, there was no reason the driver shouldn't have seen that car if he was looking. It wasn't a long nosed truck.
