NFL- EA Currently has Monopoly on NFL Sim expires in 2026 Soccer- EA currently owns most of the big Licenses so basically a monopoly. Rumored that 2K and FIFA are working on a new game. Golf- PGA2K has Tiger woods exclusive, and PGA EA has the Masters exclusive Boxing- Undisputed Boxing releases in October 2024, only boxing game in over decade. NBA- EA has classic real-life courts locked up for serval years to their NBA live game, NBA 2K has exclusive rights for players like MJ locked to 2K. Also, many NBA games have gone mobile. NBA live is still updated on mobile EA love their card packs NHL- EA NHL no monopoly but the only annual NHL sports title. Tennis- Topspin 2K just returned after 13yrs no monopoly. Going up against Tiebreak both games on console. Tiebreak has exclusive rights to bigger name pro players MLB- Sony has a monopoly on MLB with MLB the show. To keep the license exclusive Sony had to agree to bring MLB to Xbox console. UFC- EA has a monopoly on UFC games for several more years WWE- 2K has exclusive rights to WWE 2K.
its gonna be hard to compete nowadays with 2k and EA cause this companies have the rights and contract with some or almost all of the athletes. so the accuracy of the gameplay and faces wont be that good for the competing companies. thats why no one would even try to compete with 2k and EA anymore. example EA fifa vs PES. PES cannot put players on their game cause EA has their rights. its completely monopolized by this companies to avoid competition which is garbage.

As someone that not only Loved playing Live19, and followed *ALL* news that came out about a possible follow-up, allow me to offer a bit of insight: The reason why there was never a Live20 is twofold: 1) The sales were much lower than anticipated. If you search RUclips (or internet in general) you can still find videos of the development of Live20; most notably the motion capture aspects. However, towards the end of development for Live20, the sponsors/shareholders dropped out, and EA no longer had the necessary funding to finish development 2) In response to this, EA canceled Live20 and decided to go with Live21 instead, however, with no legitimate funding, they tried to go "Free-to-play" but the NBA said *"No",* so THAT'S why we haven't had an NBALive title since 19. I hope this helps
I still play Live 18 and 19 cuz I find it more playable/fun than 2k. Even with the gameplay issues like basically all inside shots goin in, certain animations being wonky or forced, team AI, etc. its still more enjoyable to play. I only play 2k for franchise mode cuz its deeper than Live's.
Shiid love franchise mode gives u points to foor each player performance u could literally turn like Ben Simmons into a 3 or god with top handles and passes u also unlock traits that u can equip them with trust it's deep just gotta pay attention to the notification for traits points u can see on the screen with all the players

Players that never shoot 50% end up with ridiculously high efficiency, playoff series simulations are never close to realistic, no logic in free agency/the draft/trades. It’s just a deep game with plenty to do but far from realistic.
even my friends that never played a basketball game bought this for 20 bucks and we had such a blast. Even tho it was very animation based and the shooting felt kinda horrible it was solid. If they improved on that game it would have been awesome
Which is why I wish they kept going with the series. Yeah it had flaws, but it was a solid enough for a continuation. I don’t think they plan on bringing back Live anytime soon tho unfortunately.
Man, I really hope EA plans to continue nba live. Live 19 had so, so much potential. And I really know that not only me here is excited for its comeback.
Another cool thing I don’t think was mentioned is NBA Live having wnba first (live 18) and allowing people to make female players for the first time and being able to play with everyone in park modes

You guys are crazy. 2k25 is lightyears better than live 19 tf. 2k is so much more detailed, the animations are far better and overall just less harsh than live 19
I’m mad they never came back with a new one because I remember them saying on their Instagram in 2019, they were waiting on Xbox Series and PS5 to come but it’s been 4 years and we still haven’t gotten anything
I cant believe they basically ceased operations after giving us that hopeful "we are working to improve the game on next gen consoles" and all that never came to fruition. I love NBA Live 19. Great game and was building on the foundation of 18. Wish they kept going :/
Honestly, if 2k added NBA Live 19's defense system, the game would be so balanced. Live 19's multi-player was fire, and you have so many courts to play through online. I only have 2 problems with the game: 1, it is way too easy to get to the rim. It's almost unstoppable, and 2 when you try to make an updated roster, the game doesn't save your players' faces or attributes. So even if you customize your player, he will look bald, so you can't even update the game. The game had a great shot meter it was so easy to green if you were open, and the game has no ghost contests. The contest system was very balanced, and if you were contested, your green window goes away completely. You can still hit contested shots, but it's not likely.
Real I loved the shot defence how contests were realistic builds were somewhat balanced like you wouldn't get punished for choosing a build you like and the courts//presentation 😮💨🙏🏾🔥
Contested shots go in all the time. And I’m not talkin late to the party, I’m talking hand in the eyes of a wing scorer with 85 shooting and it still goes in without as much as grazing the rim.

Tbh honestly I loved nba live and tbh I didn’t stop playing the game because it was bad live was always a solid game to me on my opinion I only crossed over to 2k because that’s what most of my friends was on plus 2k16 was my first 2k game but my first basketball game was actually nba live 16 plus there not as money hungry like 2k is (don’t judge me😅) but I don’t like to spend outrageous money on a basketball game just to get my player up so I just stuck with nba live but I already knew the 2k bullshit was gonna happen until 2k18 came out that’s when the bullshit started to make its entrance into the chat

Some things i dont like about the one mode is when you play in the league you have to sit and play every single game you cant sim and if you do you wont have stats and you dont qualify for any awards. Another thing in the league it gets repetitive and its like they dont put nothing new in the game after the first season often times they use the same script like you can be in your 10th season getting welcome to the league and first game messeges.

For me the competition ended in 2010 with 2k11. I feel like that was the game that crushed the industry. EA never seemed to recover after sitting out that year. Its funny I grew up on EA bball games dating back to the early 90s Versus series(ie Bulls v. Blazers/Lakers V.Celtics) games going into NBA Showdown and NBA Live. Even messed with their March Madness games. But along the way stuff just kind of fell off. I think NBA Live 07 put a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up getting 2k8 when I switched to a 360 console(later in the console's cycle). Then 2k11 dropped and won me over. I feel like the presentation aspects and immersion as well as the gameplay did it for me. I only wish that we could have gotten a few more college hoops games because College Hoops 2k8 was the pinnacle for me. IF the NBA license stops being exclusive, I want EA to make an earnest attempt at winning back some of the legacy gamers that do remember how that series used to be. I also would love to see them try to work on a college bball game(Tho I don't think its actually profitable). I just like the idea of competition in the market. Same with the football side, I want 2k to be able to make NFL sim games again.

If EA bring back again nba live they should improve the gameplay less arcade, back the street online basket and about 10 dolars less than 2k and they will be real competitor to 2K
Contested threes go in all the time it’s actually really annoying. On 95 shooters with late to the party I can accept it but 85 shot wing scorers popping shots with a hand over their eyes should not be making threes with the consistency that they do.
Nba live 19 looks good in video but when you control it it's a joke if you've played nba 2k. Nba 2k is so far ahead there's no way any basketball game will exist
As a 2K fan. The best NBA live game ever is 03 and 05. It was fun. Live 10 was good Because Mike Wang left 2K went to EA and did live 10 to bring out competition for both brands in that same year 2K 10 was bad horrible people went back to 2K 9
What do you mean by “automatic blocks”? Blocks have to be done manually by holding up on right stick or jumping with Y and you have to time the jumps correctly.
NBA live 19 was a good game, but they did not make no money like Madden and FIFA games the hype was dead with EA NBA live games so it be waste of money to make another NBA live game
Live was worser than 2k for several years but after like live 18 and 19 it was a way funner game than any 2k after that. But 19 is too outdated now with rosters and arenas obviously so rather play 2k but 2k just isn’t that good anymore at all

Hell, not even the Warriors. I used the Knicks and got Steph and Klay on the Knicks with only a few trades. It's like tricking a baby.
