Morning. Winter 2019, I slipped on the ice in the driveway and landed on my right hip. I felt fine until the next day when I was so sore I could not walk. Spent 3 weeks laying and sleeping on the sofa. After the pain went away I found I still could not walk. Went to the hospital and a MRI showed major damage to my pelvis. 2 surgery's, 6 weeks in the hospital and rehab and I still have trouble walking and its been more than a year. Doctor says I am stuck with this issue. Sometimes the simplest injury and led to major issues. Hope you are well soon.
Al, That has to be the final nail that you hammer into the building! Undies attached lol. You're both so handy with your nail guns, very envious of your skills! take care!
Yes! It took you like half an hour to realize that you’d been shot. I was stunned at your reaction. And Gina’s. Then I thought, ok which way was the gun angled. Thank you Lord that you spared Al and Gina today on the farm. Your mercies endure forever😇
Almost all accidents happen when you feel under pressure to hurry. You're thinking more of finishing, not safety. I'm so thankful the accident wasn't worse. God bless you.
I'm with Gina - it could'a been a lot worse, and thank the Lord it wasn't!! That nail could've hit bone, or a large blood vessel, a nerve or even an organ and it would've been a whole different scenario. Praise the Lord that it just hit muscle! Praying for a quick healing, Al! 🌷🙏🙏🌷

I know the feeling. I put a nail from a stick nailer in my hand while putting in curtain blocks. I was holding the block with my right hand and nailing from my left. The nails were held together by paper not wire so I pulled it out but went to the er to get a shot and so antibiotics. I feel your pain. lol.

I stated in another video, the Makita MAC700, known as the Big Bore is an excellent small compressor. 2.5 gallon size. Follow the break-in procedure, by filling with oil, open the petcock on the tank and let it run for 30-45 minutes. Close the petcock and you're ready to use. The Makita is a good compact size, light in weight, around 45 pounds, easy to carry, and again, quiet in operation. For sanding furniture, install a oil/water separator inline. Oil-less (like the pancake compressor you have) compressors have a problem with throwing connecting rods out the side. That's one of the reasons oil-less compressors are so noisy.

Emergency's are one of the reasons it is good to have a set of clothes in a vacuum sealed bag in the car as you never know when you will need a change of clothes and you never know when you want them to be easier to put on so looser fit. Keeping the clothing in a vacuum sealed bag means no pests, water damage or chemicals in the car spilling on them so they will be how you put them in months or a year later. For those that have avoided any major injuries that require a trip to the ER they often need to cut off the clothing or dispose of it due to blood staining so you will need a different outfit when you get discharged.
I have cut lots of clothes off of many people in the back of an ambulance. Used to tell little kids that I was the reason their Mom made them wear clean underwear.
@@patriciablanton6243 Did they teach you how to safely remove a ring from a finger that is swelling up? There is a simple process to get them off without needing to cut the rings that works best when done early on. I'm glad you were lucky and it wasn't too bad. I must admit I recently "stung" my thumb on a table saw when I wasn't concentrating. Fortunately there was only a tiny amount of blade showing above the wood. A valuable lesson to us both.
I’m really glad it wasn’t worse. I compare things like this to getting a speeding ticket. It makes you a super careful driver for 3 months or so. You got off with a warning this time so heed the message and proceed carefully, you’ve got a building to finish. I wish you a speedy recovery. 😎👍
Hope you aren't in to much pain this morning. Somebody else was with you two in that lift. Hope you heal quickly. Our leaves are starting to turn here in Lancaster Pa.
Good to hear it was only a soft tissue impact, nail / staple guns are the biggest cause of injuries on the building sites here in Aussie land. Rest up Al hope it settles well for you
Glad Gina was right there with you when it happened. Such a valuable reminder for all of us to never work construction projects alone under any circumstances no matter your level of experience. An Epsom Salt soak is great to remove soreness before bedtime - if you need it. TFS!
Someone was looking after you Al! Understanding your work ethic, I am really surprised you weren't back on the lift as soon as you got back fro the ER.
So glad it wasn't more serious, get better quick because you still have to finish your garage/barn. Wishing you a speedy recovery and Gina well done for keeping calm 💖💖💖
@@recoveringsoul755 Yes, but sometimes stating what we think is obvious helps those who are too close to the problem also see it. Our comments most likely won't help Al and Gina out now, but they may help if there's ever a similar type of incident in the future. They certainly could help somebody else who happens to read it and might remember for themselves, later on. Oh, and never underestimate how much it relieves the commenter's stress.
I hope you took several moments privately to thank whomever is looking out for you. That the nail went in at just the right angle to prevent bone penetration is something to be extra thankful for. Be careful, we all want thees videos to continue with you in them.

Yes, they have foliage in Arizona. 'Foliage' refers to the leaves of plants. There are leafy plants in Arizona. Your deciduous trees have foliage from spring through autumn. You are enjoying the varied, changing, autumnal colors of the foliage that has been around you since it budded out in spring. And, indeed, they are far more glorious than what can be seen around Phoenix where Hope was born.
Years ago I had to have a bulging disc repaired in my neck. After the surgery I awoke to no pain and in a recovery room surrounded by physician assistants. The Gent next to me was recovering from having a nail removed from his skull. Somehow he fell on or with the nail gun and manage to get “shot” on the head. He recovered just fine but oh so scary for the family. Those guns have the potential to do much damage - you were lucky treat it like a ‘gun’ as it really is.
I’m so glad you’re ok & things weren’t worse than they could’ve been, Al. NEVER pull out a puncture wound bc you can bleed out from that spot which is seriously bad brews. Also get to the ER immediately bc you could get lockjaw which can be fatal. Lots of medical personnel in my family which is why I know this. You provided some excellent education in this vid & that breakfast casserole looked delish as all Gina’s meals do. Heal well and be careful!
I understand how you feel Al. A week ago I caught my thumb in my table saw. Did not cut the thumb off but ripped a decent size chunk out. Nine stitches and a now numb thumb. Accidents do happen. Emergency rooms are depressing. Three hrs for me. Be well and be safe. Love your builds.
When the air nailers first came out we were sheithing the roof of a condo unit we had framed down in Manchester New Hampshire. When nailing sheithing it is tempting to hold the trigger and just tap the gun on the plywood. One of the boys on our crew ended up nailing his heal to the roof. We had him mostly cut out. We had to cut out a section of the truss and the plywood. The fire department got him down off the third floor roof with the 2x4 and plywood still mailed to his hesl. You have to be very careful with nail guns.
Glad your OK. Use the nail (painted with the green nail polish) to hang something near one of the barn doorway's to remind you to work safely every time you see it.
Oh my gosh!!! I am glad that you are ok Al. And Gina is right, you never want to pull out a nail just in case it is in an artery, bone or something else important. Praise God it wasn’t worse. I pray for healing! 💜🙏🏻
So Al did you say "I like that" when the Doc pulled the nail out 🤔 Seriously hope all well with you now. Made a great thumbnail too. Slow and steady wins the race..
I'm so glad you are ok Al. Gina you were so calm and am very glad Al listened to your warning to leave it in. Accidents do happen and I appreciate you sharing your lesson Al so hopefully even one person will not have the same injury. Love the fall colors showing down your lane. Have a wonderful day
Looking at these “old” videos is fun! Gina milking goats, the corn-pone music-which I love, and the “old” homestead. You guys can really count your many blessings. I hope things are as good or better today as it was when this vid was published.
Over my 30 years roofing, we’ve had a few ‘flesh wounds’. So glade with a nail that size it hit where it did. Getting our guys to not hold the nail gun with their fingers on the trigger is hard, unless they hunt and have been around guns, those guys just seem to not do it due to good teaching thankfully!
Still doesn't count for malfunctions. Picked up a roofing gun once both safety and Trigger were stuck plugged the air on and it went full auto nobody told anyone else it was broken and it looked fine sometimes s@$t happens.
Yikes it’s good you decided to rest up in my years as a first responder I have seen individuals go into shock with less so your so very lucky stay safe we don’t want to lose you guys
I got a piece of needle or pin 3/8 inch long stuck in the bottom of my foot and by the time I was taken to the Doctor, (I was 7 or 8), the thing had worked it's way all the way to the bone. Because it was itching I rubbed it causing it to travel to the bone. It was in my foot for roughly 12 hours before it was removed (in a doctors office). 1965 Hope and praying you have no more accidents or complications Al. You were lucky it didn't get stuck in the bone or hit your Femoral Artery. I'm not sure about plastic but I do know that wood such as a splinter does not show up on x-rays. Splinters do show up with mammograms.

Glad your ok. Award 🥇 of the day goes to Gina for remaining calm and knowing exactly what to do. Don’t touch it!
Sending prayers of healing your way hope you feel better soon.
Glad that it wasn't the worst of an accident. I have had my share. I am so amazed as to how calm you and Gina were when it happened.
Ouch! Good mornin. Praise God you are no longer in pain.
Yup.
AMEN!!!
So sorry about your injury, and am very grateful it wasn't worse. Hope you don't suffer too much and heal quickly and thoroughly!
Good to hear it was only a soft tissue impact, nail / staple guns are the biggest cause of injuries on the building sites here in Aussie land.
Rest up Al hope it settles well for you
I never use bump on a nail gun 👍😊🦘🇦🇺
“Beast mode” in anything always turns to “accident mode” and also “regret mode”.
bad joke coming: "you got nailed" well you nailed it, you did.
Yes and yes.
Great comment lol
I was going to make a joke, couldn't think of one.... it was worth a shot 😉😉😉😉
Wishing you a speedy recovery and Gina well done for keeping calm 💖💖💖
get the trim done before the numbness wears off.
Yes. You'll be sorer tomorrow.
you know they make these videos days before they are released, right?
@@recoveringsoul755 Yes, but sometimes stating what we think is obvious helps those who are too close to the problem also see it. Our comments most likely won't help Al and Gina out now, but they may help if there's ever a similar type of incident in the future. They certainly could help somebody else who happens to read it and might remember for themselves, later on. Oh, and never underestimate how much it relieves the commenter's stress.
@@recoveringsoul755 LOL really ? LOL
So glad you are alright and you weren’t seriously injured Al, Gina you did not panic. Thank God.
Everyone who works on the farm should be up to date on the tetanus vaccine, always. Thank God, everything worked out very well
You can't get tetanus from a new nail.
@Iron *Fe* I guess those brand new nails could have been in contact with a bovine who was carrying it at the factory.
You are right 🤔
I hope you took several moments privately to thank whomever is looking out for you. That the nail went in at just the right angle to prevent bone penetration is something to be extra thankful for. Be careful, we all want thees videos to continue with you in them.
Oh my goodness I'm glad you're going to be fine, sore, but fine! Tell you the truth, I thought you had broken a bone from the posted picture!!! So happy you're ok!! 😊
Don’t apologize you’ve been working so hard your a real grafter. I love your attitude to things they always get done, you both work really hard, and make great vlogs.
Need to take that nail and hang a plaque up that says Blessed or some such. Thats a special nail.
Accident ‘s happen every day ,be safe using anything that can bite back I had to learn the hard way also.🙏🏼♥️
Ouch ouch and ouch, that so bites. I hope it heals well and soon
Ouch this channel has more excitement than I thought . Get well soon.
That sounds much worse. Glad it all worked out v
@@LumnahAcres he nailed his heal bone to the roof structure.
I never saw him after that. I'm sure he had a long recovery
Glad your OK. Use the nail (painted with the green nail polish) to hang something near one of the barn doorway's to remind you to work safely every time you see it.
So sorry you got hurt thank God. It was not. Bad God bless you and you have a very cool headed wife get better soon
Oh my gosh!!! I am glad that you are ok Al. And Gina is right, you never want to pull out a nail just in case it is in an artery, bone or something else important. Praise God it wasn’t worse. I pray for healing! 💜🙏🏻
Dang, glad that nail didn't get into a bone. Will be praying you're not too sore later. May God bless
Thank God you're okay Al.....love looking at your family videos.Feel better.
So Al did you say "I like that" when the Doc pulled the nail out 🤔 Seriously hope all well with you now. Made a great thumbnail too. Slow and steady wins the race..
It felt a lot better once he pulled it out. 😆
Iron *Fe* My husband said the same thing.
I thought the same. I think he needs to produce a "I like that" shirt!...or perhaps pants now.
@Iron *Fe* I was wondering about that too
@Iron *Fe* It was popped against him, I think, as he try to get a hold on it.
I'm so glad you are ok Al. Gina you were so calm and am very glad Al listened to your warning to leave it in. Accidents do happen and I appreciate you sharing your lesson Al so hopefully even one person will not have the same injury. Love the fall colors showing down your lane. Have a wonderful day
Ouch! Glad to know you're okay. Play it safe and have a good day..
Looking at these “old” videos is fun! Gina milking goats, the corn-pone music-which I love, and the “old” homestead. You guys can really count your many blessings. I hope things are as good or better today as it was when this vid was published.
Good morning AL, get well soon & stay safe.
Someone was telling you to slow down and be careful. I am glad it wasn't worse. PTL. Hugs to you and your family.
To quote Al "thank you, Jesus". That could have gone so badly!
Man the anticipation was killing me while watching the video! So sorry that it happened but yes, you were lucky... all things considered
Yeah, no kidding. We knew what to expect, but the suspense up to the fated moment was edge-of-the-seat material. Thank God it wasn't worse. 🙏
Omg!! So glad you’re OK and didn’t feel much pain.
I got a bit nauseous when I saw that happen ,so glad your ok ,it’s alway s when your pushing for a deadline that accident s happen ,stay safe
Just glad you're okay!!!!! Amen.
