      He just talks repeatedly without any actions to prove them, hence we’re improving but not succeeding . Anyone remember him saying he was going to win the UCL this year 4 years ago? Anyone remember him saying he was going to be unpredictable in his playing style this season? Do people just forget things this easily and how do they? The idolization of this man is scary to me plus I don’t think I’ve felt more blue balled before than last season. And it’s not to say he’s been bad in anyway but what he’s doing is his job. He’d be gone if weren’t improving every year but to each there own

      1st part is a pathetic monologue. Who was sad? Arsenal had a great season. The title was lost at villa but to compete with City us something else. Liverpool once had 97 and didn't win it. What's all this fake mopping and crying about?

    The table at 2:51 is exactly why I don't think 'the league was lost' due to the Villa defeat. The argument at that point is that Arsenal should've picked up 52 points out of the final 54 available, which was a ridiculous ask. The real issue was that run in December.
    Either way, there's no denying that it was easily one of the most enjoyable seasons of football in the 28 years I've been watching Arsenal. What a squad, and what a group the backroom staff are. Arteta's tenure has been verging on heroic.

    • @MichaelHattem
      @MichaelHattem 13 дней назад +3

      Totally. I said after the last loss in December that the title race for us was over. we only got back into it because of the insane run we went on. But we can’t lose 4 matches before the New Year and expect to win the league. We have to stop having a great first half of the season or great second half and put them both together and find the ultimate level of consistency that it will
      take to beat a team built on 15 years of cheating.

    • @alfredthegreat9543
      @alfredthegreat9543 13 дней назад +3

      Agreed. I think we went too quick in 1st half of the season last year, and too slow this year....though that may have enabled us to perform so well this period from January. I think Arteta recognised the problem at the tail end last season- we were gassed out come March, and adjusted accordingly. Add a few more players this summer who he trusts and he can then rest/substitute key players to conserve energy without dropping our pace of play.

    • @nekosinner9177
      @nekosinner9177 13 дней назад +4

      More to the point is that beating Villa would've meant winning 17 out of the last 18 games with only 1 draw, which is something even City have never done. Yet people talk as if we're expected to do that. Had we done better in December, we probably could've lost to Villa and still been ahead.

    *I'm damn proud of our players, coaching staff and fans this season in the Premier League. It's been fantastic, if not awesome.*
    Excluding the Champions League, we've been damn awful in the domestic cups. Getting KO'ed in our second game in the EFL and KO'ed in our first game of the FA Cup. The cup we have won the most.
    So we need to strengthen for next season and I have a shopping list for Arteta. *_If Arsenal can get these three players for next season,_* _I'd be more than happy._
    *Midfield. Everton's Amadou Onana.* Only 22 years old and a really intelligent powerhouse.
    *Attacking winger. Nico Williams.* Athletic Bilbao. Only 21 years old, really fast and tricky and intelligent too.
    *Striker. Benjamin Šeško.* RB Leipzig. Only 20 years old. Was clocked this or last year being faster than even PSG's Mbappe. He's big (6'5"), intelligent and powerful and he knows where the goal is.
    And all three are relatively young. But not bought for the reserve team. All are currently rated as very good but all can be honed even more to be real super stars by Arteta and the Arsenal coaching staff.
    If we can get those three plus any others that Arteta want, I'd be chuffed to bits. *_We wouldn't be just a damn good team._* *We'd be bl00dy well scary too!*

I'm so proud of this team and how they played this season. They are one of the best Arsenal teams I've watched in my 30+ years of supporting the team. They just went against one of the best teams of a generation..........although if City are found guilty next year then all they have achieved is built on lies and deceit and will count for nothing.

With regards to UCL, given that anything can happen in that competition, I don't particularly have very high expectations, SFs would be significant progress imo. • @KandowaTech
      @KandowaTech 13 дней назад

      @@Starwars0405 I totally agree with everything you just said but we don't have any player like Zinny in the team so If I were to sell a defender this summer then it would be Kiwior. Now that doesn't mean Zinny will be the first choice but in a game where we are behind and we don't need 4 defensive minded players in the backline, Zinny can come in because as much as defending is not his best quality and everybody knows that but going forward and inverting into midfield he is best to non in that position. quite frankly Kiwior isn't that solid defending either, I understand he was playing out of position but he gets turned easily and Arteta doesn't seem to trust him either. The only reason he was starting in those games is because Timber and Tomi were both injured or had fitness issues but if you noticed, in the run-in he started Tomi in that position. So they're both not my first choice, but if I was to sell one and keep one, I'd rather keep Zinny just cos of what he offers going forward.

    Great stuff as always, James. We actually came into the season with quite a changed squad. Havertz and Rice new in midfield. Timber and Raya new in defence. Then Timber gets hurt and Partey gets hurt, and Zinchenko, Martinelli and Jesus are nowhere near their form of 22/23. It took a while to find Kai's position. I think we'll go into next season with a much more settled and larger squad, which should have positive effects on our Cup effectiveness. I kind of feel like this summer will be the final squad building summer of this current side. After this, it will primarily be shopping for those one or two players that are super expensive but raise the ceiling of the first XI.

    In a preseason match , he played Tomiyasu at RB and Timber at LB and they switched sides during the match (like wingers). I think we may see that next season. Defensively there doesn’t seem a whole lot to improve on. Basically the season before we got 50
    Pts from the first 19 matches and this season we got 52 from the last 19. All that’s missing is consistency, being able to maintain that pace. My concern is that it will require way more depth than we have or are likely to have with so many players leaving this summer and I worry we may need to take a step back to take those final two steps forward. But I also have faith in Arteta and the players to get it right. It’s coming!!!

But for that loss, we would have won the league by 1 point all things being equal. Next season, Arsenal should get players who will enable the team go into every game with the intention of winning. We have a good defence that we should aim to beat any team, including Man City at Etihad, & any team in the cup competitions (Carabao, FA Cups & Champions League).

  • @angusmacaskill9026
    @angusmacaskill9026 13 дней назад

    We need to win the title next season which means adding ready-made winners. I would love to see us signing Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane from Bayern. Goretzka's a beast of a DM in the mould of Rodri, and very skillful - see his pass to set up the Gnabry goal against us. Yes, he's 29 but we'd get 3 good years from a top quality champions league player - and we could release Partey who I love but who seems to have lost his athleticism (see also Casemiro).
    Sane is blindingly quick, and skips past the opposition - he can play all positions across the front 3, and he's a good finisher. He would challenge Saka for a starting position and also has extensive CL and PL experience. Given Bayern is in flux due to losing their manager I reckon if we strike quickly we could sign one or both of these players - say 50M for Goretzka and 60-ish for Sane. The strategy here is to add experienced starting-11 players to enable more squad rotation and keep fresh the likes of Rice, Saka, Havertz, Martinelli. So that's c. 110m.
    I'd also sign Gyokeres who looks the best of the available strikers - quick, good skills and a clinical finisher: a much better all-round package than the likes of Isak and Toney IMHO. So call that a total outlay of close to 200m.
    These new players allow us to move on squad players who aren't at the level to improve us next year. I'd sell Nketiah (c. 20m to a mid-table team), Nelson (c. 15m), Jesus (c. 30m), Partey (c. 20m), Kiwior (c. 25m), Elneny (10m), Cedric (free), Vieira (25m). That's 135m coming back in - although even if it were 65m we should do it.
    I mentioned Vieira last - as a potential sale - because he's a really high quality player and we've seen glimpses of that in his assists for Jesus for goal #3 v. ManU this season and also for Martinelli last year v. Villa. But the reality is he doesn't have the strength or engine to compete in the Premier League - unlike Odegaard who he was bought to understudy. Vieira just hasn't got to the required consistency level.
    My final point is we do need an understudy for Odegaard and that should be Smith-Rowe who we definitely shouldn't sell. ESR showed against Everton how he can impact games, and I think he would be great in the Odegaard role as well as covering on the left-8 position and even wide right or left. A great utility player and someone who will be much better next year after a full pre-season now he's injury free.
    Anyway, apologies for a much longer rant than I anticipated, but to summarise, imagine Arsenal are playing Fulham on a Saturday next year and Real Madrid in the ECL on Wed, here are my teams:

    I agree with much you say.
    Villa dominated city.
    But, arsenal vs villa away, arsenal dominated the game and shouldve won prob 4-1, 5-1.. we didnt.
    Same vs westham. It shouldve been a big win.
    And i know people wont talk about VAR, but i am not talking about with VAR or without. Many rivals wanna point out that ”without var city wouldve won anyway”.
    Yeah, but its the mistakes var makes that effect us, its not that they change it, its that thet didnt.
    Look at Newcastle, i am 110% sure that if no one saw the game they just show a clip of the goal with players with black vs white shirts. 98% would say its no goal.
    What would happen after that win, draw or lost anyway. But my feeling is a draw.
    We can talk about PGMOL going out and saying arsenal shouldve had a pen in the 2-2 game vs Chelsea. Yeah 110% pen.
    Thats 3p and won the league.
    Then we change it, city only had var with them. And are we gonna talk about 1-1 vs Fulham and a offside goal? That might be a loss for them or a draw. And we know more wrong has been Done in the favour of city.
    The worlds best team dosnt need the ref.
    I am proud of arsenal and i understand you are aswell. But sometimes we need to blame other things. I mean, we won vs city but they shouldve had 2 red Cards.
    Bruno vs Newcastle shouldve had a straight red, and prob 5-10 game ban. But nothing, tomi got a 2nd yellow when CP player dived. Still missed the game after..
    Nketiah kicked in the head by Lindelof, where is the PGMOL.
    They only take the blame with its 1 situation vs 1 situation … or it dosnt matter..

    Not sure why I have this uncanny feeling, as if, Mikel may possibly turn Timber into an 8 and possibly get a new left back. Just getting a feeling that an adjustment like that could possibly work. As I've noticed, Mikel seems to like his players to be Swiss Army knives, which I personally, have no issues with. Increasing the potential in each players....Arsenal ( pun ?? 😁). I dunno about those Arteta Out people, but, I'm excited to see what this transfer window brings. Cheers on the great content as always, bro.

      I think he tried to implement pep's tactic wherein pep tweaks a bit at the start of the season, rotates the squad a lot and then picks up form second half of the season. Strategic planning if you have the squad depth, which we unfortunately do not have.
      Moving forward, we have to do what klopp's team did....just blitz our way through, start to finish, I guess.
      But I'm hopeful for the summer transfer window, I think we'll make some key signings and sell the dead weight.

    ook at Haaland and how he looked lost against us. He is world class. What we need maybe someone who help us beat Fulham, Aston Villa and Westham. Maybe some one like KDB, Gundogan, Gvarvidol in Mancity with clutch moments.
    Maybe we should learn from the Invincible. If we can't beat them, at least don't lose. Imagine we drew those 3 games

    Here is my opinion on the season. First, let me be clear that I ve never been part of the Arteta out club, in fact I was in opposite, and I am not arteta out now. Although Arteta has done really well, I believe that his team selection and squad management this season resulted in second place again. You can look at it glass half full or empty but I think there was an opportunity this season to win the league, and instead of taking it Arteta was preoccupied with Havertz in 8, and that’s frustrating. In the beginning of the season, I thought that Arsenal will win the league. However, the league for me was done in the first game vs villa in December 2023 (not second one, the first one) as it was the game where I realized that Arteta won’t let go of this Havertz in 8 thing, i e Willian thing all over again. I can accept experimenting for a few games but villa game was game #16, while Havertz in 8 hasn’t really worked since PRE-SEASON. Now I agree that Arteta and the team have done EXTREMELY well in the second half of the season but the end result is same as last year bc in order to win the league in the current environment you have to be good throughout the season, not just half of it. If you do your job throughout the whole season, you wouldn’t need tottenham to help you, as Liverpool has done in 2019/20. Why does all this matter? bc the league was lost by 2 pts, and if those two points were recovered, then probably goal difference would have adjusted in our favor too. You cant win every game, there will be pts lost along the way. However, you have to make sure that you put your maximum into winning those points, and for me playing Havertz in 8 is not maximizing you chances of winning the league bc city or Liverpool will punish you, and that’s what happened. Sure you ll win games bc your overall team is still good and havertz in 8 does contribute still, especially against lower teams, and other players will put in a double shift (Odegaard, Rice) but it wont work throughout the whole season. Also, it’s ok to use Havertz as second striker sometimes, like against Brighton, but it should not be base case. On the dropped pts, we have 5 draws and 5 losses in PL (last year we had 6 draws and 6 losses, so an improvement). The only points dropped when Jorginho, Rice and Odergaard STARTED in midfield was Chelsea away draw (for which I thought Arteta chose the wrong tactic in my opinion, should have done same as away vs Tottenham) and draw away to city. The only pts dropped was TWO AWAY DRAWs vs CITY and CHELSEA. While in all the LOSSES in PL, except for West Ham (where trossard was in 8), Havertz STARTED in 8. Arsenal btw lost more games than city and Liverpool in PL this season. To the people who still believe that Havertz in midfield works, the biggest indicator that it doesn’t is the fact that Arteta has pretty much given up on it himself. It’s not a coincidence that the only two teams that we haven’t won against this season in PL were Villa and Fulham, in all those 4 games, Havertz STARTED in 8. Also, what a coincidence that the only game we lose in PL in the second half of the season (Villa) is the game where havertz starts in midfield. Out of the dropped pts, if we had turned 1 draw into a win or two losses into draws, we would have been champions, that was the difference. In my opinion, if Arteta went with jorginho instead of havertz in those games, we would have achieved it, and probably more. It’s not a coincidence that Arsenal went on a run when arteta started using jorginho more. The fact that Jorginho started only 10 games this season is crazy, he started 9 in half of a season last year. To the people who point to Jorginho mistake vs tottenham, that was from rustiness from not playing, you cant expect a player who hasn’t really played to start playing really well from the start, he played well since. You don’t just have to look only at dropped pts, eye test, personal stats of Havertz in 8 (not great), the fact that in the first half of the season Arsenal were struggling to create chance from open play (those stats miraculously improved in second half of season, when Havertz played more up top), it all points to the same conclusion. Therefore, in my subjective opinion if Arteta gave up on Havertz in 8 earlier, we would have been PL champions. On Havertz, unlike many fans earlier in the season, Havertz was never a bad player for me, he was just played out position by Arteta. Since the moment he joined, I knew that he was a false 9 bc it suits his profile given how Arsenal play, and up front is where he played for every previous club, and for the national team. Also, for every previous club, he was tried in several positions before settling up front, so Arteta naively went through the same process again. However, even I was surprised how bad havertz was in 8, but like I said before it was clear in pre-season already, and you could argue it takes time but game week 16 is too long for me. Also, theoretically you can convert a forward into a midfielder (why you d do that in season where you can win the title is a different question), and I have no problem with that, but if it’s not working, just play him in 8 at the end of the game when the result is secure, and don’t play him EVERY game. Havertz STARTED 30 PL games this season, and played in 37 out of 38 PL games in total. Based on starts, he is part of the core group of players but have his performances, especially in midfield, justify being part of that core because every other player in this core has justified his inclusion throughout the season. The core players based on starts (30+ starts) were Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Rice, Odegaard, Saka. Just to clarify, jesus, zini, trossard, jorginho STARTED less than 20 games each, martinelli started 24, and all are therefore not part of this core starters list this season. Trossard btw has 12 goals in 18 starts, and should have played more. In my opinion Havertz should have been part of the latter list rather than the first one, unless he played as a false 9 during the whole season. Second part of season, Havertz deserved to be starting, but that’s because he was playing up front. On Raya vs Ramsdale, I really don’t care because in either case it’s a good goalkeeper playing as a goalkeeper. Now on the excuses: on depth, clearly the run in the second half of the season points to the fact that there is depth in this team, why for example ESR got man of the match one game then haven’t really played since. Same for partey and timber injuries, somehow team managed a good run without them. Obviously, having them would help but it could have been done without them, city played without KDB for half of the season. To the people who say that it was always arteta s plan to play partey and rice together in midfield, before his injury, partey played at rb, so you cant claim that. On Arteta saying that in any other league, he d win, well we knew this when Liverpool got 97 pts and haven’t won, so no news there, arteta recently said it himself. Also, Inter won with 90+ pts this season, Leverkusen 90 (34 game season), real madrid 90+, so arteta with 89 pts wouldn’t win in those leagues either, and those teams also have good coaches. George Graham won against then mighty Liverpool, wenger vs Fergie’s United, so it was tough for everyone. In the beginning of the season, pundits were saying that the Havertz purchase would make or break Arteta. I could never understand why, bc no one was forcing Arteta to play havertz, especially in midfield, but now I understand why. Arteta has done really well overall and has generally done well with transfers, but when you go against Pep’s city you have to be on point, and Arteta just simply wasn’t. At some point, he has to make that shift from a promising manager to title winning manager, and he has to stop making silly/unnecessary mistakes, NO excuses. I still think he can win a major trophy, but the risk of him being a Poch of Arsenal is NOT OFF the table. Having said all that, the club has made a choice to go with a promising but inexperienced manager and mistakes are part of the process. His potential to win PL is still there and Arteta should continue trying, and he and the team should get all the support in next few seasons. I personally think that the teams needs a good 8, a piece that is missing

    @mattc1176 13 дней назад

    Isak would be a great signing but it’s going to take £120m ish minimum if they’d sell him. No way they sell him and Bruno. Bruno is IMO too old at 27 to spend £100m on - 3 yrs older than Rice. Kudus would be great but he’s got 5 years left on his contract and a £85m release clause next summer. So again, I can’t see him moving this summer. And if you can get Wirtz to leave after the season they’ve just had (4 yrs left), it’s going to take a transfer record.
    My guess on those 4 is, Kudus and Wirtz are basically impossible deals this summer. Someone else will pay up for Bruno - City or PSG - and then no way Newcastle sell Isak.
    Sesko looks a deal well worth doing to me, Gato is likely a Zinchenko replacement if he leaves (I think unlikely), Joao Neves is another basically impossible deal this summer.
    Frenkie De Jong would be the more realistic dream midfield signing but even there I’m expecting the wages to be somewhat prohibitive.

    For me Arteta really needs to build and use a squad to be competitive on all 4 fronts. That means bringing some academy guys such as Nwarneri, Lewis Skelly and Cozier-Dubberry. ESR should stay as long as fitness issues are solved he gives us a different profile, we don't have many players that can take men on centrally. We need an Ortega level GK no Matt Ryan nonsense a capable back up. If we can build a solid swuad injuries dependant that could compete in the league cup or FA cup with youngsters and squad players that then puts us in a good position.
