Uttarayani : The Grand Fair of Kumaon

- This is a short video about Uttarayani mela (Fair) held in the town of Bageshwar in the state of Uttarakhand each year on Makar Sankranti, mid-January.
The fair is pretty famous locally, and traders from all around the hills and adjoining plains attend it to sell their products.

It would be interesting to have a video on the political definition of Kumaoni and Garhwali as 'Pahari Hindi'. I have heard many demands to give national recognition to languages that are grouped together as Hindi but have a long and vibrant history and culture (e.g., Kumaoni, Garhwali, Awadhi, Brajbhasha, Rajasthani, etc.). There's an exciting video on Awadhi by India in Pixels where he argues that Awadhi should be considered a language of its own and NOT a dialect of Hindi.
It would be interesting, I guess.
I don’t know much on the topic though, I would have to look at some material first.
The opposite opinion should hold true now. We are not KUMAONIS or GARHWALIS. We are from uttarakhand. We are one. I have seen people in KUMAON speaking of Kali KUMAON Pali pacjaun etc and further dividing the people.

They put garhwali label to kumaoni songs like bed pako
This song talk about nanda devi of nanital and lal bazar of almora
Both of which are in kumaon and
garhwali people's try so hard to label it as garhwali
And garhwali people's also started to wearing rangili kumaoni pichhodi and trying to make it as garhwali pichhoda

There are many news going around, but I like to see your angle about this issue as you know Uttarakhand better.
Hello. I am mostly copying this from one other reply here.
What's happening in Joshimath is incredibly sad and I can't imagine what the affected people must be going through.
But, as it stands now, state government has intervened to aid the affected families and has promised to provide compensation (possibly at market rates) and temporary residences.
According to latest news, the subsidence of land has apparently slowed down, but the state Government also has barred information publication by major institutes and researchers, to 'stop the fear and rumours growing' apparently. Without that, it is very difficult to create a video for me, which can already take up to a month to create.
I am as curious as you, and I have no other sources of information apart from the ones you are likely already familiar with. There are other creators/reporters working on field though, I would suggest watching them.
Thanks for your concern and hoping the best for the future of Joshimath and Himalayas.
