As a programmer who loves technology, and believe machine learning could benefit humanity, I see the recent wave of "AI" as a toxic form of capitalism taking advantage of other's work, while also endangering their financial well-being.
As an artist who’s also looked a ton into “ai” it’s so obfuscated and such as to what classes as “ai” (I’m sure you know how we keep calling a bunch of only tangentially related stuff “ai”) It shows how little they(corporations) value the actual skills that go into creative projects. Also it being a HUGE energy drain on already poorly optimized energy grids to even make one image.
@@_Cloun exactly, it's the new buzz word companies use to get venture money. 9/10 times the current "AI" doesn't even improve upon their service. And yuppz, it's sad to think about how bad it is for the environment. But I think many people don't even realize how bad regular data centers are as well. As they use A LOT of potable water the regular population needs.
She must be the coolest aunt ever!!!! What kid wouldn’t love someone like her ad their aunt! I love how much fun she has and how awesome she is with the kids.
Robot, sculpturing, family, beach. This video has it all! I’m a very creative person, like you. (I make music, draw, make furnitures and clothes, makeup, photos, use tractors and excavators, weld, program, fix motors and electronics, etc, I’ve even learned hieroglyphs) but I’ve always felt I want to try sculpting. And now I got it: sand! Perfect! Then I will don’t have billions of sculptures. About AI, I agree. And so far I lean towards the positive side of it.
For someone who doesn't know what they're doing, that turned out pretty fricking awesome! I think you underestimate how impactful and powerful your artistic mind can be with projects like this. Sure, you may never have sculpted sand before, but you know how to compose a 3D work, you have a lot of experience molding a wide variety of mediums at equally varied scales to create finished pieces and you have the perseverance to spend time on details and build up a large composition from its individual parts. You may have never worked in sand before, but the only "new" think you did here was mix the sand and water in your blank molds to get started, everything else was a compilation and combining of skills that you've practiced for years! AI is a touchy subject, there are a lot of tasks that it could do quite well and be very helpful with, but equally, corporations are already being as scummy as they possibly can with the technology, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Even if they weren't blatantly stealing art and doing other obviously immoral if not yet illegal things, there are a lot of unanswered questions about how and where AI programs should be applied. How much of our lives do we want to trust to dubiously understood algorithms companies that have repeatedly demonstrated that they do not have our best interests in mind. How much of a say in the matter do we actually even have?
Yah "I look like I don't know what I'm doing" was not an accurate assessment. She looked like she was _inexperienced_ at it, but definitely not ignorant. After looking at the finished result, you have to be even more impressed with the results the pros achieve at those big sand-sculpting events where works twice as big end up looking like they were made with NC machines and they clear and include an area 4ft wide around into the actual sculpture. And get it all done in a day.
AI is out of the box and will be abused. Big company: Youu cannot copy my music at all, or you get demonitized and worse. Big company also: we going to use your creation to get more rich.

My only issue with current "AI" aka LLMs and generative "Art" is the fact they're using stolen content. They're trained on people's data without consent. If they would just get consent and pay people for it then i'd be fine with AI.
When she said “if the robots are going to control the future, (should I be nervous autocorrect suggested the end of that sentence after 3 words??) at least it’ll be based on my art” was the first time I’ve been given pause about my instinctive terror.
When it comes to AI, I feel AI is not nearly mature enough to be using as a tool for anything. We lack the control of it and it's hurting more people than helping. I absolutely love the sand sculpture!!!
