My brother in-law was Miwok. His ancestors were those that were forced from Yosemite. Pictures of his ancestors are in a book that Yosrmite sells.

Just came back from visiting Yosemite National Forest. I must say, I became more interested in these native peoples and have a much more profound respect for the way the live. Thank you for this Video. I hope one day we'd be able to make Columbus day the Native Peoples day on the stead. Thank you again for this amazing treatment.

No need to add "mountains" to the Sierra Nevada which is Spanish for "Snowy Range".
It would have been nice to use the Miwok name "Kayopha - the sky and the peaks that touch it".

No the Californian Indians could not, but if the native Americans had band together state by state. Well

CA history - - Much has been written, but little is known about Californian's history. Would venture to guess there was too much horror involved. Just saying.

I appreciate all this...but then again, I'm tired of it. Indian removal? They lost. The end. Had the American Indians come together as one, the outcome may have been different but they didn't. They stole land from each other. They were not advanced. At all. They also gave as good as they got. I have respect for some of the people. A lot of truth is lost. A story is told. And that's it. Well, that's not it. I'm a direct Mayflower descendant. I'm also a direct descendant from the Powhatan. And? There's a difference between Pilgrims, Puritans, & Quakers. And Jews. There was true friendship between King Massasoit, chief of the Wampanoags & the men who signed the Mayflower compact with him, including 2 of my great grandfathers x 8... They never broke it. The did share Thanksgiving the 2nd year. The American Indian didn't interfere much with the Quakers. The Mexicans never owned Texas. The Comanche did. People came here & took without asking. Cheated the natives. Yes indeed. Many people were brought here & cheated, etc... Surviving childhood in a land before America? I bow down to them. And am ashamed of this nation & what we've become.
