This made my evening on a cold winter night. Good to see Ita Etok and a land so rich in history-old stomping grounds of the likes of Mary Slessor, Scotish Missionary who contributed in raising the educational levels in the area. I started my primary school in Ikot Obong. A school that drew pupils and teachers from far and wide. As a matter of fact, clip 21:06 captures the country homes of the late Prof Eyo Okon (former Vice Chancellor), to the left and to the right that of his uncle the late OAU Edeme also a renowned educator, Scouts Master and Choir Master, who would have transitioned from that same primary school founded by Mary Slessor in 1906 ( Mary Slessor passed away up the road in Itu in 1915). I spent 3 months in that village in 2018. I was burnt out from the rat race in the West. I came to heal and recharge and I did. The Ancestors are real! Thank you for capturing a very special place rich in history and memories. Best wishes to you and your family for 2024.
Thank you Susan. It is indeed very important to know our history some good some. So pod of how your children adapt to travelling etc. . Are you able to drink coconut water as soon as you and family awake in the morning. Please don’t mind me….only saying what I hope I could/would do if I was there. Eg. I always ask the children how well they slept as soon as you see them awake and greet them in the morning.
