My heart melted and I got a bit emotional when seeing you three together 🥲🥰 So nice that u have Jonas and August visiting ur videos sometimes! Seeing u guys laughing, creating music and having fun makes me happy 😊 Liked that version of Blinding Lights with the guitar a lot. And Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movie songs. As long as there will still be living breathing artists pouring their heart and soul into their songs and performing live concerts I don't mind AI bringing new possibilities... And that ending of the video...😂 Needless to say, I loved this video and hearing u sing 😊 Why I am awake in the middle of the night writing this comment, that I don't know 😅
People don't understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. This isn't technically AI, or AI is only a small element of it, but since it's often compared: I NEED Joel to revisit Hatsune Miku and/or vocaloid!!! Mainly because the last time he covered it I think he missed out on checking out the producers behind it!! A lot of vocaloid producers are big artists in japan and have even branched out to do work without vocaloid (such as Eve, syudou, Giga, and DECO*27, although a lot of them still also continue to use vocaloid). I think with Miku finally about to debut at Coachella, I think now could be a very interesting time to revisit it! I think looking at vocaloid music is a must, of course the program is definitely interesting, no doubt about that, but I think more people need to see the wonderful music they've made using it!
Its AI because its figuring out how to fit the music in and copy you by listening and smoothing it out, and you can upload your voice for it to use, so this is AI voice tech. Same as the Mark Hammel AI voice, or the Frank Sonatra AI stuff (Boulevard of broken dreams is amazing)
@GreyfauxxGaming Thats not exactly how vocaloids specifically work. I'm not an expert on the finer details so anyone who is can come in and add onto my basic knowledge, but vocaloids are voice banks! Basically all of them are made up of pre recorded audio samples from one person (Saki Fujita is Miku's voice provider!) Now I don't think AI is completely out of the picture, as I think it's used to change these pre recorded samples based on what you tell it to do. But, to my knowledge, vocaloids are more akin to an instrument, bc producers have to fine tune them exactly how they want them. To upload original voice banks with your own or other people's voices, that would be UTAU! Although again even in UTAU it's not as simple as recording yourself singing and letting an AI fix it up. You still would have to put in the work of fine tuning your voice to how you want it.
@@GreyfauxxGaming well, not an expert too but some voices like Synthethizer V one's do have AI integrated, where the program will tune it automatically for you in means to make it sound more "human", but I must say, most producers, popular ones, do opt to tune them manually, as older programs like Vocaloid 4 won't have AI (for obvious reasons, released date was 2014) and much of the voices like Kaito or Meiko won't have a newer voicebank with polished audio recordings (in fact, lastest Kaito voicebank was for vocaloid 3!).
Also, you do have programs like Utau (OpenUtau being a better and up to date "clone") where tuning by AI is not an option and you *must* record you're own voicebanks to make it sing (unless you were already using one made by someone else) and then have a really tedious process of aligning the end of every audio recording as well as the begining of each vowel just to make you're crappy voice sound decent enough. Just remember, Vocaloid, ACEstudio, SynthV, CeVIO and similar programs have been a thing since before AI and people used (and still choose) to do it manually! Hope it cleared any confusion ^^
@@xx_koneka_xx6297 Ace studio does indeed use AI to achieve realistic vocals, much like Synthesizer V. More over, the voice to midi function uses AI to analyze pitch and phonetics to convert them to midi.

This could be a great tool for small artists that can’t find vocalists yet or that meet to pitch a song to a producer or something

It's not 100% there, but it's getting closer. Pretty soon this tech will be perfected and it'll be truly indistinguishable. Can't decide if awesome or scary!

It's not just you. I'm not supporting him anymore. I'm very disappointed in him. These types of programs have stolen from human singers. I'm so over ai. It's a tool for weak humans to use to get ahead. I thought Joel was better than this. 😢

@@sunshinesideofdarkside I also consider AI to be a pest, but what is shown in the video is not AI, but vocaloid. It's a tool that's been around for over a decade and it was originally aimed at aspiring music producers making songs in their bedroom. It's not new at all, but this AI craze likes to take the credit as always.
So yeah, this video is mostly misinformation and a group of guys discovering vocaloid in 2024. Which is a shame because vocaloid and its derivatives are genuinely interesting media, where great artists in Japan have come from.
@@Dave-bw3gl I mean, that was vocaloid's whole intent when it first came out in 2004. Hatsune Miku's first voicebank was release in 2007 for v2. A lot of similar programs have been born since then. AI is not necessarily filling a lack.

And i think people today are against AI in general because of AI Art in paintings, which are taking data from already existing pictures to profit off of it. But it´s different in music where they just figured out how to make synths sound more like a human. Of course stealing voices from already existing artist is just as bad. But as i said: It´s all about how we use it.

Using AI in music isnt necessarily a bad thing. But it definitely limits creativity and other important aspects when writing music.
This is only used for vocals though, it's got nothing to do with the creative process of writing and producing music itself

I'm in the "neutral" camp on this. I didn't love AI doing the lead vocal in any of them. When it's so front and center, I can really tell it's not a person. The manipulations make it closer, but...still sounds like a computer to me. However, totally agree that this could be used for backing vocals, since it pretty much mimics what a good backup singer should be doing.
I don't get the people who think this will hurt "real artists." They can coexist, literally the same way actual instruments and electronic instruments do now. There's a market for both.

'Voice'-synthesizers (as I call them) are the future for small/independent artists who don't sing or can't afford a good singer.
I use them all the time.

I have just tried downloading this AI app from Ace Studio, and unfortunately, my protection just keeps stopping it as a threat was detected, and no matter what i do to allow it, i just keeps preventing it from downloading. . Did you face the same issue when you downloaded it?
Question: how the voices are "made" in that program? Did they have ppl work with them on recording enough samples or did they just take it from "the web" to use as a dataset to train on?
Cause that's usually what makes difference for me when it comes to ppl using AI - if the og authors (artists, writers, singers, actors) gave their consent to use their work (in this case their voice).
Do they explain somewhere how exactly it works and where they source their data?
Now going back to the video - I must say that knowing something was made using AI is taking all the joy away from me while experiencing art. Like... Some voices here sounded cool, and if it'd be a real human singing I'd be impressed with their skills and how much work they put to train their vocals, how to control the voice etc. But since it was all just the program (+u arranging stuff in there) it made me feel actually sad... it felt kinda soulless?
I agree that it can make it easier for musicians to create something they'd normally have problems with, but damn, it does feel a lil weird.
Imagine such song with crazy fem voice goes out and gets popular. Some artist/studio is impressed with it and they want to collaborate with the singer just to find out later that she doesn't exists, and it was all just a guy in the basement using a program and not an actual person singing... Ofc such works would have to state officially that they used AI to avoid confusing ppl.
ik ik, there's similar problem with auto-tune rn, but humans can still learn how to control their voices better. The guy from the basement wont magically sound like a totally different person.
I'm just worried that the AI usage in the creative industry can get out of hand and actually ruin the space even more :/

I think the vendor spot is just fine, but it's clear to everyone that you are intimidated by AI taking over music or other content. That was indeed very cool... but I need AI generated vocals with grit! I hope you do another one of those in which an AI song would be extensively worked on just to see if it could make me feel emotions like the real deal. At first it sounds just a little better than Miku Stomp.... Later it got better. It's not good enough to create convincing lead voices, but for backing vocals it's ideal.

The thing with letting computers(machines) to help....there is a knee jerk reaction. There's a fear of "take over," helping isn't bad. Yet, job loss is that not also a factor? I do agree this brings a level of energy to the music industry. Just like the AI did for modeling industry. I'm only about the aspect humans are still vital, not AI bad. Wonderful job today all, really gives a lot to think about. Lastly, if I may✌️✌️✌️❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂 truly, deeply.
