The Mythos Argo does a pretty good Bramhall tone as well for his octave fuzz stuff (I think it is also designed as a COB Fuzz pedal, which is what Bramhall uses)
Doyle uses the Zonk Machine & Zoink Machine made by Acid Fuzz. This one's cool in its own way, but doesn't sound or behave like Doyle's Acid Fuzz Zonk Machine or Zoink. I think a lot of builders trying to get Doyle's Zonk tones don't realize he often uses it in combination with his other pedals like octave or boost, so they get it completely wrong. This one's kinda cool in its own way, but sounds unlike any of the 3 original Zonk Machines I've played or Doyle's Acid Fuzz clone. It's closer to the original hybrid Ge/Si Zonk Machine than the two all germanium ones. Sounds very mis-biased and over saturated, but interesting in its own way.
Heavenly tones, thats awesome. Before someone come to say, there is no magic in Ge over Si, I put there some notes, that I learned on University. Ge tranzistor amplify signal in non linear and asymetrical way by nature. Also they have pretty bad leakage. All of these properties are used in circuits like Fuzz or Treble Boosters and to make the sound in that way, you will need lots of workarounds with Si tranzistors, so it basically will not be the circuit anymore.
I just received a pedalboard version from Cunningham. I can fully attest it sounds just as good in person direct into a clean blackface! Hands down my fav fuzz and every setting is usable. Thanks for the the great review of this and turning me on to it, just what I’ve been looking for 👊🏽💥

This sounds great. I’ve avoided fuzz for so long after having played a couple that are iust super woolly, with no bite or presence, but this sounds like it has none of those issues. Your brillianr playing helps. I wonder if the firebird pickups are a big factor?
Was wondering if you could review the Bender by JHS reason for that my gear and set up is closer to what you use and playing style than other people who have reviewed the pedal? By the way picked up some sunbear pups like you recommended and it's perfect 🥰
Sounds kinda cool soloed but in a mix or live, could be major mud. You didn’t show the dry signal going to the pedal & it sounds like it has gated lo-fi distortion & reverb, or no?? Why the hell is the housing so huge? Not so sure this isn’t just another new fad pedal that will be a yawn in 6-12 months, just sayin.
I’m gonna say it now, January of 2023, pre-12K subs: this might just be the most underrated guitar channel on RUclips.
