My legion go really changed my mind about handheld gaming. Being able to have the bigger screen, higher resolution, higher refresh rate, and the detachable controllers has made it worth the price to me.
@@freakytechreviewsI don’t think people have a good opinion of their support, and it cannot help that they do not seem to sell through resellers (such as Best Buy).
I wouldn't touch legion go s and neither should anyone. Has gpu from 2020. Ancient rdna architecture. It's going to be slow and steamos beta is going to be released for all handhelds soon anyway (Windows is still better than steamos as only windows supports lossless scaling app which is needed for handhelds imo)
I probably will too, especially if the author is right in his belief that the ssd slot natively supports 2280 (I’m not familiar enough with custom back plates to add a 2280 to the OG).
I also thought the same while choosing Steam deck oled and Rog ally x . But eventually went with Rog ally X for the performance and more compatible game library . The navigation with mouse using sticks and Right click( R1 ) Left click (R2) seems really great. I an Enjoying just navigating it. Glad i chose roy ally x
So unfortunately CES is so loud that even at max volume I couldn't get a good feel. I do have creator friends who have a more private and quiet testing session with it and they were very impressed. They even had experience with Version 1 and said the second Version's speakers were noticeably louder and more clear. Hope this helps!
Yeah, seems hard to get if you didn't pre-order directly from msi. Msi seems to have reserved a lot of stock for their own store so they could say they hit a January release. My pre-order from Excalibur pc has no ship date and up until a few days ago, they were advertising Jan 20th delivery.
@ they've been around for a bit and I've not seen any negative experiences. They've been very transparent so far in telling me where I am on their preorder list. B and h photo sized they are not though.
@Francisco-i9n2b they have not. I was 14 in line a few days ago. They told me at that time that they had somewhere around 25 pre orders so far. I emailed them again and asked if msi had given them an ETA for an initial batch of units yet. Will let you know what they say.
Yep and the one I saw inperson really showcased the potential to fully replace any gaming or work equipment you would need to take with you. AI for on the go gaming will be gamechanging.
Apologies if I’m misspoke in the video. Trying to gather information on the fly while talking to the representatives means I can write things down incorrectly sometimes.
@@freakytechreviews Youre good man, I enjoyed the video. There were a couple of things off, but great video all in all. My OCD couldnt let that one fly though.
"Only 32 gigs of ram" 32 alone is overkill mine has 32 and even on the heaviest game and running the highest settings possible i have at least 8 gigs of ram unused at all times. Its not necessary despite what people think.
I know darn well YOU didn't say that the CLAW 8 is gonna be the front runner 😂😂😂 IT'S CLEARLY NOT..THE FRONT RUNNER WILL DEFINITELY BE THE LEGION GO 2, BUT BEFORE THAT COMES OUT THE front runner will DEFINITELY BE THE LEGION GO S "OS" EDITION...Valve and Lenovo Merge and Lenovo becomes the very 1st non steam to be A FULLY SUPPORTED STEAM OS. That's a huge game changer right there.

With the Switch 2 announced this is going to be a great year for handheld gaming!
Awesome post. Great solid down to earth info.
The handheld gaming scene is really heating up!
Great video brother!!!
What's better, in your opinion, on the new handheld gaming ?
Your the first three handed reviewer I’ve seen😃
OneXPlayer stuff looks awesome
They have some really cool stuff and I don’t know why they’re such an underdog compared to the rest of these. Their systems have so much more power.
@@freakytechreviewsI don’t think people have a good opinion of their support, and it cannot help that they do not seem to sell through resellers (such as Best Buy).
They do but they are so expensive. I can buy a full gaming laptop for that price
My steam deck is still going, but I'm gonna get a windows handheld next, 8 inches at least, Lgo2 and oxp looks good
Buy the steamOS Legion Go S for $499. You can still install a cracked version of W11 and dual boot both OS for those that would like to use W11

@@radicalturkey hard agree
I'll be picking up the Go 2 to replace my OG Go. I'll put Bazzite or SteamOS on it myself.
I think the go version two is going to be the biggest jump in the second GEN handheld from what I can see. Sounds like a good pick up!
I probably will too, especially if the author is right in his belief that the ssd slot natively supports 2280 (I’m not familiar enough with custom back plates to add a 2280 to the OG).
Onexplayer needs to do freesync or VRR. They’re already expensive as it is so just toss it in, damn it
lol I completely agree with this!
is it possible for next ROG ally be released this June? MSI Claw 8 is lower performance than I expect.
Next ROG ally will probably be around that time maybe a bit later but expect it to be more expensive than the msi 8 lol
Really wish that legion go 2 has an oculink. That would be a game changer.
Agreed!
I’m hoping it has TB5.
Minor correction--the 8ai is 16:10 so technically it doesn't have the same resolution as the 7ai
Ah you are correct. I misread my notes and said 1920x1200 twice
Having no trackpads on these new devices are a HUGE DOWNFALL.
There is a trackpad on the legion go (and legion go 2).

Kinda wish OneX player were using more LEDs than LTPS but they look great nonetheless
I definitely agree with this. They really seemed to put a lot of the emphasis on the internals being powerful and had to cut back somewhere I guess.
How were the speakers on the go 2? Better than the first?

Been checking online for a claw 8 and can’t seem to get a hold of one. Thought I’d use one till the LGO2 came out.

I had never heard of Excalibur so I kept scrolling. I fooled myself into thinking I’d be able to walk into a Best Buy to pick one up lol

@@EthanCarey-p8k I was looking into them and their store is about an hour from where I live. Have they updated the shipping on your order?

The Go S was intriguing but I’m worried that the 4 core cpu is going to hold it back.
The Go S is ass, ESPECIALLY the 16gb variant.
I might return my rog ally x for the msi claw 8ai
Has someone who owns the regular ROG Ally, I would love to have the 8 AI. It’s going to be a great machine.
A gaming tablet is like a steam deck and ipad in one

@freakytechreviews what was the name or brand of the one you showed?
X1 mini has a 8840u and uses 2240 ssd

Bezels too big and the screen too small
I want xbox handheld. I don't want to buy a new tv, what for?

Sir, The Steam OS Version is priced at $499.00 Already Confirmed.
That’s why said $500-$600 depending on if you get the 512gb version or the 1Tb version. $500 = 512gb; $600 = 1Tb
@freakytechreviews you're right, I heard 600 to 700 ,but you were talking about the windows version so that's my mistake and I apologize.
The legion go 2 looks tiny in your hands wtf
lol yeah. Even though it’s a great step in the right direction there still isn’t a gaming hand till that’s actually comfortable for me.

Where’s my steam deck pro?
I’m not sure that there will be one. Valve said they are interested in a second steam deck, but not anytime soon unfortunately
