- Milenberg Joys - Dutch Swing College Band in 1960.
Leader Peter Schilperoort had left the band for a few years to persue a career as an engineer in aviation.
In 1960 he returned and reorganized the band to become a full professional unit.
From Austria he had Oscar Klein on cornet, coming from a Dutch dance orchestra he found trombonist Dickie Kaart. Former members who stayed in the band were Jan Morks clarinet, Bob van Oven bass and Martin Beenen drums. Former real estate agent and banjo player Arie Ligthart became the band's business manager as well.
Nog steeds geweldig om naar te kijken/luisteren!! Wat waren ze goed! (Rond 1962/3 op Texel 'in het echt' gezien. Onvergetelijk!) Toen zonder Jan Morks, helaas, en met Ray Kaart op trompet.
En de drummer was toen Louis de Lussanet.

To me the best jazzclarinettist ever, closer to me than Benny Goodman, Edmond Hall or Buddy de de Franco. Remember Jan Morks!!!!

I had the extraordinary honour to have the fantastic bass player BOB VAN OVEN playing in MY band, the original Traditional Jazz Band, during a whole year in São Paulo, 1980 in my jazzclub the famous OPUS 2004. God bless his memory.
Was brought up on this as a kid, DSC had a unique, swinging sound back then & still has a unique swinging sound!!
I am enjoyinh a nice and warm summer evening in the NC mountains and watching and listening to the great music from my youth in Holland, this brings back quite some memory's Love it !! Thanks erwigfilms for uploading, apparently you are also Dutch (and let's be honest it aint much if it isn't Dutch).
Thank you so much for sharing this! In my opinion the DSC band was never better than in 1960. It's a pity there is so little of Jan Morks's incredible playing left on film.

Quel ravissement, je me retrouve 60 ans en arrière. Cette musique Dixieland ne me laisse en place mais elle est passée de mode, bien malheureusement.

I recall dancing to this band as a student in Dublin in the 1950s. They were non pariel!

I agree around 1960 the best period of DSC.
Slick, superficial, used-up routine. A far cry from the original music of the 20ies.
