Apparently both 2024 models (45GS95QE non-speaker, and 45GS96QB speaker) do not have an IR receiver so there's no chance, as far as I'm aware, to get into the LG service menu so users are stuck with whatever max brightness the 2024 model is capable of.
I use 17% brightness on 2023 model, so lack of brightness is not a problem for me. REAL problem is this CPC setting - brightness on the edges is noticeable lower at the edges, and introduces some banding too, you can turn it off in service menu but you can't save this setting. Is this still a problem on newer model?
@@udubultra Thanks for the response! I assume you got it directly from the LG website yourself then? Australia? It's not available here in Germany it seems.
I honestly was going feral for the 2024 version of this monitor, I had to research online a lot of the ultrawide monitors I was planning to use for my setup. At first I wanted to have the 49", but its aspect ratio was off putting when I saw it in person early last year. When I checked the reviews for the Samsung Ark 55", a lot of gamers and users simply said that its price is not worth it since it's essentially an over-glorified television rather than a gaming monitor (also, that price for only 165Hz?!) I had to search for other monitors that were still in my price range, and are great quality. When I saw the LG 45" its 21:9 ratio felt perfect! Unfortunately their 2024 model is still unavailable in our country (Philippines), so I decided to get their 45QR95QE-B instead since it's available in the market here already. IF they do release a 5K model for this maybe next year, I'll probably get that and sell the 2023 model below SRP. I cannot wait to try it out!!! Looks amazing!! Thanks for making this comparison
You’re welcome! No matter the cersion you’re going to love this screen, imo it’s the perfect size and I love Ultrawide so I don’t think it gets better than this. I will be very interested in see the 5k version should they make it, that’d be awesome
The increase in brightness looks amazing, wow! My concern was HDR highlights being blown out, but it sounds like detail is still retained well. Should be a good hold over until the 5K2K panel comes out. DLDSR working out of the box with 240Hz on HDMI 2.1 or does it require any modification?
Yeah I’m very happy with how it’s handling the brightness, there’s no overblown highlights and it looks amazing! The increase definitely requires adjustments be made in any of your ingame HDR settings because they definitely won’t carry over, once they’re dialed in (like in Horizon Forbidden West) it really is a drastic increase and good for LG and taking WOLED to this level. Regarding DLDSR, unfortunately this still suffers from the same issue as the 2023 model. Now I’ve only had it for two days but to get it to work so maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like setting it to “2.1(PC)” just like with the previous model still forces on DSC at all times so you can’t access DLDSR. So instead you have to do the same as before, switch it to “2.1(AV)” and then use CRU to delete the 4k TV resolutions and create a 3440x1440 240hz resolution which will then allow you to use DLDSR
I was pretty bummed about brightness coming from a s95b qd-oled when I got one of the Alienware qd-oled's. Good to see lg is already fixing that issues in just one year.
No the remote I currently have doesn’t work, I’d be curious if another one works tho. It’s definitely not needed tho, this new one gets very bright lol
I want to know why they did not send you a remote control. I bought the screen and I got one. This remote should come with both versions. Another question: How did you know that there is a 4k version? I searched on Google and did not see any of this. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Thank you for watching! And I got this monitor when it first released, I’m assuming they must have done a refresh for more recent versions to include a remote and sensor. Regarding the 4k version, there’s been a few leaks about it but nothing official
The 2023 version goes on sale for 1200. I am trying to convince a friend to buy this monitor, but if he can get the discounted price for the 2024 it would be great. How much did you get the 2024 v for?
I paid full price for it, but I got it when it launched to stay on top of things for the channel. I would recommend finding anything on sale if it’s available lol
I wish Monitor division will come with some nice and simple naming like TV division has with their OLED TVs. It's way easier to say C3‚ C4‚ B3‚ B4‚ G3‚ G4 and so on.
@udubultra The model I bought ends in QE-B. But according to LGs site it doesn't say anything about usb-c or speakers. Really confusing model numbers lol

@@ployth9000 Yeah! Good deal. I also checked my monitors manufactured date and it was made April of this year. So it's practically the same monitor only the new one has speakers.
I bought the 2024 model and it’s a beauty… That said, after unboxing I had to immediately do a screen/pixel cleaning due to artifacts on the screen. Did you have to do this as well?
Yeah tbh though it’s not because I noticed artifacts, it’s just something I do by default when I have the option. So in my case I turned it on and ran those settings without really getting it running to notice
I didn’t know 96qb has speakers, thanks.I don’t like the spread legs on it .I purchased 39gs95qe and I liked it but returned it because I think I’ll wait for the lg 5k 2k models which should be available in month or two.Right know I’m enjoying the gigabyte Fo32u2 pro.I tried almost every 32 q-led 4k in the market but this one absolute wins the pictures quality and the software.
I really do enjoyed it,I gave try asus ucdm but I couldn’t keep no more than 2 days, gigabyte is way better. I think gx series going to be great even gs series with 2k nothing shorter than amazing.Combining gx with rtx5090 and Dp 2.1 will be amazing.which I am going to do that.Btw gigabyte already has Dp 2.1 uhbr 20.
Yes! So when your monitor is turned off, press the nub left three times, right once, then turn on. When you do this, go into the settings and you'll see the service menu come up instead of the regular settings menu
Do the monitors come with HGIG like on the TVs. If so so do you use the setting or have DTM set to on or do monitors work differently. Great video and really good content.
Unfortunately they don’t have settings like that, so you can adjust tone mapping. The closest you might be able to get is through a service remote, but at the current moment I’m not sure if there’s one that works for the new model. I definitely want to try it out though if I can identify one that works

Thanks for the review. I just got the LG45GS96QB but the ppi is killing me. I have been adjusting the HDR and DSR and the distance of view and found an okay spot. However, the 84 ppi is driving me nuts. Considering returning it. I paid a little more than I would have liked $1,199 from best buy.
I can understand that, personally the ppi isn’t bothersome to me but I know everyone’s different, this is why I’m excited for their 4k version next year because I think it should have been all along
@udubultra oh man, they're releasing a higher PPI version of this monitor?? that's my monitor endgame. I love the aspect ratio of this monitor. The typical 49" ultrawides are too Narrow.
I agree that's crazy ! That's why I went with Samsung though I wanted that one really bad. But unfortunately couldn't get over 84 ppi, that's like basically a 27 inch monitor with a resolution of 720 sticked on a 45 inch monitor, no bueno.

I believe it is, although I'm not sure if Corsair has released an updated version of their monitor as well. It is brighter than the original Flex since that was using the older LG panel from the first 45" LG Ultrawide

Kind of, I don't want to make it sounds like its so dramatically different that all of a sudden its a whole new panel, but the small window brightness on the 2024 model (like the sun in a video game setting) does hit a higher peak brightness and is noticeable compared to the 2023

My PC works on the second monitor but this monitor shows (no signal). Is there a solution to the problem??
That’s odd, as dumb as this question sounds but just to make sure, did you make sure the monitor was set to the correct input that you plugged it into? This really is only an issue if you’re trying to use HDMI, so HDMI 1 or HDMI 2. Another solution you can try is plug both monitors into your computer, then open up your Display Settings in windows. See if it recognizes both displays, and if it does try and set it to show only on the new one. If the signal goes through you should be all good then, you can unplug the second monitor

I would say no, not if you combine the 2023 version of the monitor with a service remote. The service remote settings get you very close to the 2024 brightness
@@TheHellsOutsider The 2024 version without speakers 45GS95QE-B is on sale for $1300 on LG site until the end of today 6/9/24 its exactly the same as the 2024 model in this video just no built in speakers
im looking at both of these. the 2024 is 500 more right now near me. is it worth that much more? Im currently on the alienware oled and want to go a touch bigger, i dont need speaker. the main thing to me is the glass panel. I am used to that with my current monitor. is it worth it? I play Star citizen if that helps. thats about all i play.
So for the price difference, I would say it’s probably not worth it. If you got the 2023 model and combined it with a service remote I think you’d be more than happy with the brightness. Now my main concern for you is the glass panel, if you really like that about the Alienware OLED then you may be concerned about these. The LG monitors have a matte display, not the glossy
Do you have computer for each monitor? i have 2023 lg 45 ", with i9 4080super, but I cant see how could it another OLED monitor at the same time😮 Just asking for friend😂
With OLED, each pixel should be self emissive and so more pixels means, more cost to manufacture (not to mention yields to pack more pixels per inch) - it will be north of 2000$ at launch even if they tried. This is a good compromise of price and performance.
just wait until 2025 you have a 45'' lg oled 5120x2160 model with 165hz I am coming from samsung odyssey va 7680x2160 @ 240hz I can see the increase in visuals over 4k but I want 7680x2160 @ 240hz in oled at 45''

I would say if you’re a gamer who plays in a dark room and also wants to combine it with a service remote, the current sale on the 2023 model is totally worth it. If brightness really matters to you tho and you need that QD OLED type of brightness to enjoy games then the 2024 model is what you want
@@narrated6956 a lot of people have gone back and forth on this on Reddit so I’m not totally sure, I’d be curious if anyone had warranty issues with using the service remote on this monitor. Most of the information I’ve found seems to point to it’s not an issue with TVs

@@udubultra It is true, why do I feel that the screen is a little small in terms of the two screens sticking together? Is this because of their sticking or is the screen manufactured like this?
Hey do you know what the difference is between the new 45gs96qb and 45GS95QE ? They are both 2024 models but have different stands. Im so confused 😂 but your monitor looks so good !
2023 model looks like it has more accurate whites compared to the 2024 that looks way too cool. Wonder if the settings are different or it’s just the camera
Possibly the camera, one thing about the 2024 model is you can adjust the color temp while HDR is on, so it gives you more flexibility to adjust the picture compared to the 2023 model
Hey man...so the 2023 model is on sale right now for $1,199 which is a great deal IMO. The new model for 2024 is $1,699...would you say the 2024 model is a big enough improvement to warrant spending the extra $500? Your review, the colors are vastly different between the two. The new model seems more color accurate, the 2023 model looks like it has a "Warm" color filter on everything in some games. This would be my first OLED< just curious about your experience with both.
So overall I’d probably say it’s not worth the extra 500, but something else worth noting is I’ve actually seen the 2024 version go on sale down to 1200 already at Best Buy so there’s a strong possibility it’ll happen again soon. Now I will say, while the 2023 version paired with a service remote can get it pretty darn close to the same brightness as the 2024 version, my biggest frustration is that the 2023 model you can’t adjust the color temperature when HDR is active. In the 2024 version you can. So in some regard your mileage may vary personally as if you do like a more warm image anyway, then the fact you cant do that with the 2023 version won’t bother you. If you want accuracy though and it bugs you when you don’t have it, you are kind of screwed with the 2023 version since you can’t make that adjustment when using HDR. Now if you don’t plan on using HDR then I guess this point is irrelevant.
@@udubultra Thank you so much, I really appreciate the detailed response! I do prefer some color accuracy, but watching your video I only preferred it when they are sitting side by side. If the 2023 model was the only one in front of me I don't think I would notice. Thanks again, I think with everything in mind I might wait and look for a deal on the 2024 model. BestBuy does have an open box "Excellent" condition for $1300 which is pretty close to the deal price.
It’s at Best Buy right my now brand new for $1,299. Was going to pick it up to replace my 34” alienware dwf qd-oled and they had it on display next to what I already have the 34” Alienware dwf. But it’s a lot darker than my Alienware dwf and I want a brighter screen to replace my dwf and also that matte finish makes the colors look so flat. “I also removed the anti coating from my Alienware so my colors freaking pop”. and the resolution at such a big size I couldn’t get on board with it. All the complaints online line up with what I saw also. Bummer. Wanted something new and was hoping this was it. Just going to wait for next year for a resolution that’s not stretched out.. It looked like a 1080p resolution at 32” imo. For that price even at $1,299 it’s way over priced. Just paying for the lg logo at that point.
@@SVT_LIGHTNING I picked up the 96QB at BestBuy and at first the curve was too aggressive, they had an open box for $1100 so I got it and will be playing games on it this weekend. I will say general PC use, yeah things be looking 1080p-ish. I haven't gamed on it yet. The screen was dark/dull, but you have to go into the screen settings, run the OLED REFRESH option which took like 10 minutes to do, the colors came back, the brightness was better, then I changed the peak brightness from 'off' to "high" and it's much brighter. I am still not sure how I feel about it, lets see how the weekend gaming sessions go
hi i am using 38 inch ultrawide LG 38GN950-b parring with my 7800x3d and RTX 4090. i am planning to upgrade to Oled and think this monitor will be great. my only concern is the resolution. the size is bigger than my current monitor but yet the resolution is smaller. for gaming and productivating close to our eyes is it bothering? i have no problem with like PS5 in my 65 C2 but i sit not close to the tv. once have used 32inch 2k Monitor.
Personally I have no issue with the resolution, but I also don’t sit that close to it. I prioritized gaming when getting this monitor, and I love this thing for gaming. Productivity is alright, again the ppi doesn’t bother me but I don’t sit very close to it
The one thing that’s confusing me to no end, is what to set in-game max luminance to. The monitor is recognized as 600 regardless of peak brightness mode, what do you set your ingame max brightness to? The other thing is odd it that even when using peak “low”, which is supposed to be more accurate - when setting in game luminance to 600, I would imagine that there would be no change when switching, since peak low is capped at 600. For what ever reason switching to high still shows a difference, which is making me question what is actually happening on screen, along with question what settings to use
I'd love to see the following 3 types of 2023 VS 2024 comparisons: 1) 2023 model in Gamer 2 mode but w/out the service menu settings (besides, let's say, CPC). The reason being, Gamer 2 is DRASTICALLY brighter than Gamer 1 on the 2023 model. We're talking like 900-1000 nits w/ Gamer 2 (w/out service menu extra brightness) VS Gamer 1's 600-650nits (w/out service menu extra brightness). 2) True HDR mode brightness comparison with the 2023 model in Gamer 1 mode but with all brightness settings in the service menu set (disable CPC, LEA, and LBC, and, most importantly, max out all 6 of the APL settings). 3) SDR mode but with the 2023 model in Gamer 2 mode and with the service menu settings maxed out (disable CPC, LEA, and LBC, max 6x APL) INCLUDING enabling the "HDR enable" setting.
Unfortunately I don't have the 2023 model anymore (I sold it) but I did play previously with all of those service remote settings while I had it. Now I will definitely say that when using all Service Remote settings and with Gamer 2, the monitor is very very close to the 2024 model. I would still say however that in small windows and highlights the 2024 model is brighter. I know this is all anecdotal at this point but the 2024 model in my dark room has legit made me squint a few times depending on the scene, which I never really had happen with the 2023 model with full service remote adjustment
Does anybody have the LG45GS96QB, and does G-sync/freesync work without flickering? My LG45GR95QE turns into a strobe light on some games with VRR and its literally the only con.
I appreciate that thank you! And I think it possibly will stay the same, I’m probably being hopeful but I could see them doing the same pricing strategy they’ve already done with this gen
I have both 2023 LG 45" and Samsung G9 oled side by side on my setup. I got to say I preferred the colour and brightness on the G9 Oled but the screen height is kind of too short for me for FPS game so Im still keeping my 2023 LG until the next WUHD screen release probably late 2025 and I hope LG will get rid of white sub pixel 😅
I dont know if its me, but playing on PS5 both models on vivid (HDR off), the 2023 seems better. Is this a PS5 problem and PC looks better? Or is it just HDR in this video that makes the 2024 looks better?
This might be a PS5 problem, personally I don’t use Vivid mode but I have played ps5 on both and I found the 2024 to be much better with brightness with HDR turned off and turned to Gamer 1 be the 2023 model. Also with peak brightness set to high
So I have another video that walks through all of my monitor and desktop settings, but I think the most important on the monitor are that I use Gamer 1 and peak brightness set to high. Gamer 2 does have the added benefit on the 2024 model of being more vivid, so that might be an option to go with if you’re looking for more color than gamer 1

Your buying the 2023 model?people say that the brightness is diff but i cant see it on the video, the only thing i saw is that the gs has white color on the floor for example in spiderman and on the gr it was more yellowish so the gs is more color accurate,im waiting for black friday.
yeah the brightness difference is honestly pretty small, and if you combine the 2023 model with a service remote you can increase brightness that way. To be fair though you can get into the service settings on the 2024 model as well using the nub and also increase brightness on it too, but either way having owned both I really never had an issue with brightness on either model. What I do like about the 2024 model though is that you can adjust the color temp settings with HDR on, in the 2023 model you can't do that.
@@udubultra plus I don’t really like using HDR as in my eyes it makes the color look a little off but I’ll see it once I go pick it up. I’m exchanging my oled g8 32 I recently bought cause I’d much rather have an actual 21:9 display and 4k was never that important to me.

Yeah I would say it’s a tad bit brighter still even with service menu adjustments, but it’s a lot closer compared to just out of the box
@AdaEverine you have to use a service remote, which you can buy on Amazon
But when is it available on Amazon?
I’m not sure
I will be very interested in see the 5k version should they make it, that’d be awesome
yeah it appears even in the US it can only be purchased through LG's website.

Hey. Just wanted to know if there was any way to access the service remote on the newer models.
Alienware AW3423DWF comes with source based tone mapping and it follows the PQ-EOTF perfectly to 1000 nits

I can understand that, personally the ppi isn’t bothersome to me but I know everyone’s different, this is why I’m excited for their 4k version next year because I think it should have been all along

I agree that's crazy ! That's why I went with Samsung though I wanted that one really bad. But unfortunately couldn't get over 84 ppi, that's like basically a 27 inch monitor with a resolution of 720 sticked on a 45 inch monitor, no bueno.

We desperately need better PPI (and a better resolution) to make this usable for us that use it primarily for productivity AND gaming.
With OLED, each pixel should be self emissive and so more pixels means, more cost to manufacture (not to mention yields to pack more pixels per inch) - it will be north of 2000$ at launch even if they tried. This is a good compromise of price and performance.

I set my ingame settings to 1000, and leave peak brightness set to high because I never saw a difference between the two settings
Going for the 45GR95QE thanks man!
You’re welcome!
So is still not 4k?
No not yet, that’s apparently next years version
I'd love to see the following 3 types of 2023 VS 2024 comparisons:
1) 2023 model in Gamer 2 mode but w/out the service menu settings (besides, let's say, CPC).
@@udubultra That's awesome, man. Thanks for the clarification.
Does anybody have the LG45GS96QB, and does G-sync/freesync work without flickering? My LG45GR95QE turns into a strobe light on some games with VRR and its literally the only con.
I haven’t tested it because GSync messes with the camera when recording so I default to having it off, I’ll test it out this weekend tho
Bro do u think the 5k2k next year is gonna cost more? Love your vids man best on RUclips for this monitor
I appreciate that thank you! And I think it possibly will stay the same, I’m probably being hopeful but I could see them doing the same pricing strategy they’ve already done with this gen
@@udubultra I’m doubting if I should buy the 45gs, the next one is end game especially with no price increase. Upgrading from 38gn
Yeah that’s why I prefer this screen, the G9 I had was awesome but I felt like it was too short, especially once I sat in front of this one
Um, both this year and last years models have the same HDR rating.
Did your 2024 model come with a remote?
No the 2024 model doesn’t have an IR sensor for a remote unfortunately
Nice video bro
Thank you!
@@udubultra thanks! which monitor settings do you run?
So I have another video that walks through all of my monitor and desktop settings, but I think the most important on the monitor are that I use Gamer 1 and peak brightness set to high. Gamer 2 does have the added benefit on the 2024 model of being more vivid, so that might be an option to go with if you’re looking for more color than gamer 1
Did the resolution change?
No they’re both 3440x1440
Damn i picked up a 2023 for $400 wonder if it was more worth getting the 2024
Bro i said i will wait for blackfriday and in the end i bought the 2024model getting it next Sunday lol
haha nice!
@@udubultra Yeah, the curve on this monitor looks insane
right?! It really helps with immersion, I wasn't sure if I would like it but its awesome
Just got the monitor bro holy sht!watching movies in it feel like i got the cinema at my screen, played bf1 and colors are super good, cant wait to play alan wake 2 dlc and bo6 later this week on this beast.
Thats awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying it so much! Have fun playing through your library again, that's what I did lol
Comparing the LG45GR95QE to the Asus ROG Swift PG43UQ overall in Gaming, Movie, and Productivity... Is it the same ???
Unfortunately I can't really compare, I haven't had a chance to play/use the Asus monitor
is it Vesa mountable???
Yes I have it mounted on an arm now
The only difference is that the 96 has built in speakers..I don’t use the USB-c support as I don’t have a Mac and I’m not buying it for productivity. 95 is in my cart as we speak lol
@@kouki7796 and to answer you, I play in a pretty dark room so brightness isn’t really an issue for me, I’ll play around with some settings and see what’s what.
Yeah if you're playing in a dark environment brightness shouldn't be an issue at all, I play in a dark room and I had no issues
Bro LG needs to make a 10k (10240x4320p), 240hz, 45 inch OLED glossy finish, but that shit is going to be released when the rtx 7090 is available.
😂😂
