@@onemicyeehaw1583 i love the idea of XXL, a bunch of rappers getting together every year to do cyphers, so my standards are in the fucking ground. Like i'd pretty much support XXL every year and find SOMETHING worthwhile. Like 2019 they caught a bunch of poppin mfs on the rise, 2020 had some good freestyles and the latto, 24k and fivi cypher was crazy, 2021 had morray, at least everyone participated in 2022 but 2023 has barely anything going for it.
@@brad6546 had to double back and peep some of the last names in the last few years bc I kind of gave up a while ago until this year (I'm giving up again). I feel like the state of xxl correlates to how rap is in general right now which is pretty mediocre. I get why some ppl enjoy it but they stopped carrying Abt variety or real talent a while ago. I really don't think anybody from this year is gonna have a lot of longevity.
Tbf tho my opinion is pretty irrelevant though I haven't been in the mainstream rap space in years lol but at least back then I could get a Denzel or a Danny brown from xxl every few years.
@@onemicyeehaw1583 I feel like every couple of years u get a XXL class that has cool people on it but gives u bad content. It happened last year and I feel like this year it's happening too. I already love DC and finesse so that's cool, i found out abt lola brooke and 2Rare so im happy ab that. Lola gets deep sometimes and I've added a lot of 2Rare songs to my playlists. But I feel like we're not gon get good content from this year
Since the cyphers about to be here and the trailer is already out, I am worried for the cyphers, they got 6 rappers in one for no reason
@@AmiriHipHop the beat on the first cypher with finesse and them lot goes hard but ion know about the second one 😬 feels like they asked for watered down beats to suit the large range of genres the artists are from this year it's a tough ask for Pierre tbf

This year's freestyles was very mid. Lola Brooke and finesse2tymes had the best freestyles in my opinion

Finesse2tymes was the best freestyle for me personally 👌🏾Sounds better with a beat.
TiaCorine and 2Rare both had 1/10 freestyles but 2Rare actually made me laugh so I gave him a 3(CHOOOO CHOOO)

Central Cee and Glorilla didn’t do a freestyle or a cypher so they probably joined xxl freshman for marketing to promote themselves even though most of the people that listened were there for them so its a dissapointment😒
