Great video. I’d argue an ajar door is the scariest possible state of a door. It’s the transitional middle ground with the worst of both worlds: you don’t know what’s behind it because it’s partially blocked by the door, but you know whatever is behind it can rush in and mess you up real quick without you getting a chance to fight back or even notice. The most terrifying thing to possibly happen in an ajar-door scenario would probably be something peeking its head from behind the doorframe, staring right at you, and as soon as you catch a glimpse of it it retreats back. I’ve seen it used in analog horror and it scares me to my core every single time.
Why is it even ajar in thee first place? If the door is wide open i would probably think "Oh, hey, someone left a door open". But when it's in a middle ground state like the implications are more vague. Was it something or someone that came out of there and didn't want to be noticed? Is it trying to pull you in to make you look inside, to open it wide open?
a door is scarier closed because Walter White (breaking bad) (hes the one who knocks) knocks on your door and says i am the danger and he totally chemistry
If something is coming through the door and it's closed, they gotta open it first, this gives you a bit of foresight. When it's open, anything can come out without you being able to react to it. However, if the other side is open and completely lit up, i'd say it's actually comforting. So, normally, open doors are creepier if you can't tell what's on the other side.
@@elegant_lobster_6472 this is the exact case I thought of to justify the closed door being scarier, cause you *have* to get through, and you *know* there's something there, but you can't know exactly what until you're already facing it. Also I was playing through that part yesterday too lmao
He hit on it early, but I'm sold on the wide open door + obstruction being optimal. Let's say you simply put a chair in the doorway. You can see the other side, and if something tried to get in, it'd at the very least slow it down and/or make noise upon entry. You retain the benefit of both
Nah closed door is scarier. Think about it, you dont know whats in the room, and you cant slice the corners without putting hands on the door and opening it. it could be boobytrapped or mike myers could jump out and stab you before you're able to unload 15 rounds of 9mm into his chest. open door at night while u sleep is crazy tho.
If the door is open do a single stack, not passing the threshold. Scan the threshold for information / possible threats. Deploy utility if needed before entering. With the pointman in front, make entry. Remember not to stay in fatal funnel. If the door is closed make a double stack. Make sure not to make sound for the element of surprise for the opposite side. Once stack is ready make a breach, deploy utility, then make entry. Eliminate all threats. Once the room is clear regroup and proceed to the next point.
Man this is a crazy good question, honestly I check my closet before I go to sleep and leave it open but, I lock my bedroom door for that added safety. So honestly I think it’s scarier if it’s closed.
I often used to leave the closet open when I was young because I was lazy. So one day my mom tells me that leaving the closet door open is bad luck. My first response "yeah right, whatever" but damn, I've never left a closet open ever again in my life.
this was an incredible late night recommendation, just 2 friends talking about what seems like a simple question but goes so much deeper

Man I was gonna say the same thing, but you did a way better job than I could’ve, bravo!

There's also that infamous painting of the dog looking at the ajar door, which is honestly one of the most unsettling paintings I've ever seen
the typa conversation you see in a slasher film
remember the scene from the first Scream where they discuss how to act if you're being stalked by the killer? this video emits this kinda vibe
This is the type of conversation video game dunkey would have with a GameStop employee

Jesse, you should start leaving your door open from now on.

Currently playing SH2 remake and I tweak more if they’re open
For real lmao 😂
I’m in the hospital rn and I think closed doors are scarier cuz you hear the radio noise before you see the monster

Im not kidding when I say I was laying in bed in bed listening to this and my door started to open on its own, twice!
you are being haunted by air pressure or something
Everyone knows a door is scariest when it's cracked open just a slight amount.
This video has been actually entertaining.
Pls more of this.
This is funny as hell
Doors are scariest when they're opening and you're not the one opening them

Scariest object has to be toilet after I had some Taco Bell
I always imagine the worst possible shit I could find opening a toilet lid. You’ve now added to that list
I like this
Here before this video pops off
windows are indeed WAY scarier because they always lead outside
Closed, next question.

Windows are not as scary, I sleep with no blinds open window
Easy, just keep it half open.
I was thinking about this when I was looking at the new apartment we’ve recently got signed on to we’ve been moving shit it slowly
OK here's another question: Closet door open or closed while you're sleeping?

@@heretic997when your bedroom is locked it’s definitely scarier closed if it hasn’t been checked
Here for comments.
