Much like with the OG Capt Price, I believe it’s the work of the voice actor that really makes the character really stand out. Billy Murray did an excellent job as the OG Price whether he was calm angry sad etc for whatever scenario. Bruce Thomas does the same for Adler with the calm mysterious approach. The actors deserve lots of praise for the characters we love!! Oh I wish we got another VIETNAM campaign from Adlers perspective!!
He’s so badass and a great example of an anti-hero, makes no sense when people call him a villain when what he did was for the better good and saved the world. Great video ❤
He was mysterious and his character seemed too good to be true and superfluous. Like he's just playing the same role as Hudson in BO1, which doesn't really fit because there's already Hudson AND he's also super cool, super chill, super mysterious yet everyone trusts him. Going into BOCW and whilst playing BOCW I kept thinking the twist would be that Adler was a sleeper agent (like Mason) or that he was Perseus.
I am very glad adler exists, overall because he's a great character and feels very human without being boring either, has a simple yet cool design, almost all his skins are good, but also because i think black ops 6 would feel very empty without him,i mean, only woods would be the only previously seen character and as for me it would feel kinda abnormal
I finished BOCW campaign earlier this summer, simping, fangirling, fanboying and all aside, I genuinely think that Russell Adler is - one of the greatest thing that modern CoD has to offer. Him being an interpersonal character for us to follow him, to admire him and to detest him for what he did. It's all valid. His badassery doesn't come from unreasonable strength and power, but somewhat more "humble", "relatable" and "humane".
Yeah,he might be cocky sometimes (well, mostly outside of the campaign, because in it he's very closed off for obvious reasons),it's clear he still cares for the others, despite having a moral that confuses most of the fandom. He isn't a good or bad guy,he's just an anti hero that does what his country requires him to and that is somehow impossible to understand for CW's fandom. He also got a great design, very stilysh and iconic yet doesn't needs much detail
Adler is my favourite Call of Duty character alongside Price, Ghost, Roze, Park, Weaver, Polina, Woods, Mason, Makarov, Portnova, Alejandro, Valeria, Kingsley, Lucas, Lazar, Gus, Hutch and Menendez.
Treyarch needed a new face if they wanted to keep with black ops series and god damn they killed it. Adler is cold son of a bitch but a badass one and sexy one. I can’t trust him but I can’t hate him, I love him lol
Honestly i say that adler is an hero that is willing to commit necessary lesser evils for the sake of stopping bigger evils and that is what a hero truly is someone that is willing to do evryting necessary to save lives even making "unpopular" choices becouse sometimes the ways justify the means but this saying is strongly dependent of the situation
@@neofulcrum5013 how so? Im pretty sure that an anti-hero is someone that is willing to do good things but for selfish reasons And im pretty sure that adler did what he did for selfless reasons

@@neofulcrum5013 yeah i get it what you are saying but it strongly depends on the situation like if someone does these type of things you said for the sake of fun thats undeniably evil but in certain situations such as trying to save lives both in the short term and especialy in the long term even the most evil actions can be used for heroic purpuses as long as its realy necessary and you do more good than evil Thats why i do belive that it makes more sense call adler a hero more specificaly a "realistic hero" instead of an anti-hero beacouse the "traditional hero" is someting that would be truly possible only in a perfect world
@@alessandrocanale6189 Fair. Although being an anti hero isn’t a bad thing either. It’s why characters like the Punisher and Redhood are seen with respect despite unsavory methods to permanently stop the villains. Adler’s deeds will never be fully recognized to the public but at least he has the respect of those he worked with and can sleep knowing he did his part to help save the nation.
Alder is a redo on Hudson due to the mistakes made in BO2. Not in killing off Hudson but rather how they made him into an incompetent leader who makes dumb mistakes. Plus, changing the voice actor didn’t help either. Seriously, if you compare Hudson from BO1 to BO2, he feels different. But back on the subject of Adler, while he is a redo on Hudson, he’s an improved version of the character and made to be his own person. He’s competent and multilayered. In fact, he’s more of a darker version of Jack Bauer. But something that really helps is the voice actor they got for him. There’s so much personality and strength behind the voice that the writing itself wouldn’t have worked if it wasn’t that voice behind it.
Agree on that,i don't get why they nerfed hudson but at least that gave a much better thing (adler existing) rather than just ruining his character. And yeah his VA is great specially if you pay attention to MP/zombies and compare it to campaign. You can hear the change of the pace and tone of his voice according to the mood of these gamemodes.
I think they did some foreshadowing with it on the safehouse from some dialogs, anyways it would make sense,so they are aware of the dangers of being near bell
