Word of advice: you don't need to know your ancestors to engage with them. You might not know your dead but your dead know you.
Word... known and unknown...
any more formal instructions any books reference which goes into rituals in accord w ancestor worship..
My father who died, he hated that I was interested in witchcraft when I was a kid and teenager but when I recently reached out to him, he was very grateful and he told me he was proud of me and he didn’t want me to quit, I think now he has a better understanding of it is, and how helpful and beneficial it can be and it’s really helped us.. I didn’t get much time with him before he died.. and I have tremendous guilt about that, but he also said he doesn’t want me to feel guilty… so communicating with him and honoring him has really healed our relationship.. I was totally speechless when he asked me for a glass of ice water for his offering! He literally drank nothing but ice water all the time! Especially before he died because he was very sick..
WTF
I agree with you ! Now that he passed ,your Dad already knows what is your path in life and he cannot be against that anymore because that is the choice you made and promise you did just before you came here in earth . Our passed away loved ones already knew why we became like that and this either it’s bad or good …they can understand it more than anyone else in our living family whom with us still . They will know the reasons of everything because they seen it already on their life review.
Wow..this was highly informative. The main reason I’ve not wanted to dive into ancestral magic is because my familial ancestors were not people I’d choose to work with (traumatic reasons). I had no idea that I can connect to different ancestral lines to incorporate into my practice. This video was so useful. Thank you!!
Same here...
Same ~
I love writing them letters, planting for them, giving them Mexixan, Spanish and Italian cooking, and and things they loved.
Working with your ancestors is always one of the first things I suggest to a newbie, along with learning cleansings and protection .
I love your equilibrium take on everything, very refreshing in the magick scene, not enough of it
The Mjölnir is a symbol of masculine energy & a protection symbol for warriors that norse vikings & rus vikings used to wear. The female energy equivalent is the crescent (see "Lunnitsa"). That's the symbol hanging on the wall behind her.
This was another great video, and ancestor worship is a big part of my tradition of Norse heathenry. Thanks for this one, Georgina, and blessed Yule!
Please make both the Spiritualism and St Cyprian videos!! 🖤
Right?! So exciting! I barely find good sources to cover Cyprian stuff as it is!
Do you have the book by Jake Stratton Kent?
Also, some unconventional blends of ancestor work with other forms of spirit work:
- Animal spirits as ancestors. A person I used to follow on Tumblr (who has since gone inactive) viewed all animals as distant ancestors, because we’re all connected through branches of evolution. As such, they didn’t make a clear distinction between ancestor work and animal spirit work. I always found that an interesting way to look at things, even if I never used that framework personally.
- Saints as ancestors. This video touched on something adjacent to this, in that they’re honoured in a similar way! I honour St. Francis in a “family friend” sort of way, because my Nonny had a small statue of him in her garden. The same statue is now in my front yard, living in a new garden. There’s a song sparrow nest near the statue, so I like to leave food out for them. Given his strong connection to birds, I think he’d probably approve. I know it’s probably a bit heretical to honour saints outside of a Christian framework but honestly he just seems nice
my great-grandmother saved my life by waking me up out of a deep sleep yelling my name
My grandma had a crush on a certain politician....
Everyones gonna notice the Obama bobblehead on my ancestor alter
😄😄😄😄😄😄
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ❤❤
I've been needing guidance on ancestor work for some time.
I Think I've even asked for your input before, I absolutely love that your so helpful to your viewers on here, it's why I love your channel, its one of my favourite along with chaotic witch aunt's.
This has been a massively informative video.
One question....my partner and I have been together for over 10 years now (high school sweethearts) and he is also quite interested in the concept of ancestor veneration, as we're incredibly loving of each others families, is a shared altar something that can be done.
Also is honouring his ancestors (as were essentially married just not by law) something I can do myself as I'd like to introduce our son to the concept too.
I tend to lean towards reincarnation, so my ancestor work is more of a remembrance of the role they played in my life, the lessons I learned from them and how those experiences can aid me in moving my life forward.
Ancestor work is an exercise in gratitude
Another key point you covered was biological ancestry. There is also the concept of spiritual ancestry through the spirit line for those that believe in reincarnation or higher planes of existence rather than just the biological spirit family.
One thing I was taught about an ancestor altar was to not keep it in your bedroom if you have a partner or are otherwise "active." The reason being that Granny doesn't want to see you doing the nasty, and if your ancestors really don't like it they could try to sabotage your relationship with your partner.
Also, I would love to watch the spiritualism video!
Or you have a sister who is nosy
too much information, and what you refer to as "nasty I consider beautiful. Veil not your vices in retard words
@@larrywoodall824 they’re just giving one perspective! I think it’s important for us to consider our ancestors perspectives as well when we work with them
4:25 not saying she’s wrong, the ancestor altar can be tucked away and that’s completely valid! however i’d like to offer an alternative viewpoint!
humans are social creatures, and generally loving ones at that. therefore, our spirits like to be around others and interact the majority of the time. so it’s my belief that an ancestor would like to be in the centre of the home where most of the family is when they are home, to keep them “alive” in the family. my altar is in my room as i dont have space to put it in the living room, but you may even have a kind of ancestor altar without realising it! eg: a mantelpiece with pictures of your extended family. so you can have it in the centre of your house! just incase anyone was wondering
edit: i’d love the spiritualism and the saint video
More so tucked away from non-immediate family.. extended fam, neighbors, "friends" etc. As their wandering eyes, often carry less than wholesome energy behind them..
Hi! I love your content. I followed you on instagram for a while and am now binge watching all of your youtube videos :D I just wondered (if you havent done it already) if you could maybe make a video explaining the general difference between a magician, a witch, a shaman etc. I think it could be interesting for beginner practitioners, since they get mixed up quite often :)
Definitely would appreciate spiritualism and cyprian videos! Especially St. Cyprian as when I started looking onto him I found out there is 2 - the east orthodox one and the one Every Major Western Sect knows (who would be very mad at us for messing with this stuff honestly)
If I remember correctly, there's 9 days between their feast days, and a ritual/novena associated with that time. Jason Miller is a good source for Cyprian info.
This is a tricky one. Although I agree with what you said I don't think this one is a beginner friendly path in the sense that one is opening too many doors and preparation and experience is essential for that. Opening doors to literal ghosts is quite like the internet : just because someone says they are David Beckham it doesn't mean it's David Beckham. My mom isn't an occultist by any standard and would be spooked by the word itself but she believes in lighting candles to deceased family and once she was honouring four people and all of a sudden there would be voices talking in the living room , the house just felt wrong, the radio would turn on by itself and she started feeling really scared and she knew it wasn't the people she wanted to honour , it was something else that took the open channel. It's like living in a huge city and leaving your house open at all times with a sign saying "everybody is welcomed". Someone will eventually walk in and do some damage. If anything, be at least prepared to have some uneasy moments every now and then
Anyway, love your channel and you're amazing at what you do
That’s unusual if she was just praying for her ancestors. Usually you only get negative entities if you start using ouija boards or EVPs. Maybe she already had a negative entity in her home and her prayers caught it’s attention.
In México we celebrate Day of the dead since the prehispanic people, the 1st of november is for the deceased children, the 2nd for the adults, we let food, candels, and the favorite drink of the deceased person, the tradition says they leave our world at 3:00 PM of the second day so on that time we burn incience, Is weird to see dogs getting away from the site of the offering on that days, usually they would eat the food, I think this is kinda spitist practice :)
I don't honor any specific ancestors, but I always make a statement that I'm greeting and thanking those ancestors that like me and my path, especially the ones on a higher level of conscious evolution. I do this daily and I always feel that some of them come to greet and comfort me. They always feel like they're the same 3 or 4 people. Does anyone have a similar experience with ancestor work?
Loved this one! I'm really interested in this work and wanted to know how yo begin. Thank you 🖤
I didn’t know that this is what ancestor Magick was! Good to know!
I like that crystal ball! Looks pretty snazzy! 🔮
Not sure if this is still relevant, but I’d love a video on St. Cyprian! (If you haven’t made one already.)
Excellent. Thank you for this. Good stuff nine three!
I practice a significant amount of Macumba and Ancestral Necromancy having been initiated into different tiers and systems. I would say most Shamanism that I am involved with utilizes ancestors from Celtic to Norse as well as macumba like Quimbanda and Espiritismo Venezolano.
You mentioned the Loa and African "Gods". I would say it depends on how the Baba is and what it is exactly. For example in the Congo systems the only "god" is Nzambi if its the Kimbundu system where the roots of Cuban Kimbisa and Brazilian Quimbanda derive to some degree.
In Voodoo the Loa are not gods, rather they are "very ancient spirits" according to practitioner I personally know from the Trinidad tradition. The same holds true in Ifa. My Nigerian companions only describe one as being a creator goddess and the rest are the children of the universe or merely very ancient spirits often mistaken in the West to be "gods", since every spiritual figure in the West that are foreign are understood as gods however they are more like ghosts that have evolved spiritually.
It depends on what you mean by "god". From the Scandinavian term gothi (go-die) or god in their terminology means "tribal chief", so again we are talking ancient spirits that once lived and ruled communities in which the legends were inspired. The stanzas are metaphors of songs of the dead and forces of nature; personifications or archetypes--not stories. Today the are viewed more like poetry or stories however the bloodlines of the shamans and indigenous communities that preserve them sing them.
In Quimbanda other than the main lines of spirits, the house has personal spirits only found in that lineage which are deceased relatives of past members or current members that have become eshu. For example my relatives are in the lineup and my Tata, actually Mama, as well as other Quimbandeiros who have their relatives in the line up. There are figures that go back into the 1800s directly and some the 1600s which were someone's relative at some point in addition to the main Exu and Pomba Gira lines. We call this the Mixed Line or linea mista.
crickets.......

Just found your channel! Absolutely love it.
Any videos on demonic invocation?
Very interesting. I have a picture of my Father that is very expressive, I have taken pictures of the picture and his facial expressions do change. Actually while watching this video I’m getting some funny looks (non threatening) from the photo of my late Father. What prompted me to respond was all these not coincidental stuff but rather things I have spoken with my Father like the Ouiji board thing and staying away from that… anyways the fact that you say ‘Lineage’ over and over again… makes me giggle 🤣
Yes please do Necromancy and the Quaja board videos. Please also do very thorough videos on Thelema, st. Cyprian and jack parsons. Dion fortune was also interesting. Good luck and Thank You!🙏🏻👌🏻
Never use black candles for ancestor work! You want to elevate them. You should only use white as is done at most funeral services.
Also you need stickers or something with "Pro-heresy" on them
please, allow automatic subtitles
That’s right. Always keep your ancestral altar completely separate. And you should ONLY put religious symbols on the altar that they believed in not you. If most of your ancestors for the last thousand years were Christians you should only put Christian symbols not pagan and other new age items that many seem to do.
@Trinity M It should not be about your beliefs but THEIR beliefs. The altar is for ancestors not YOU…Place images of saints etc whom your ancestors prayed to is perfectly fine. I do that to…But if you are a Satanist would you put satanic symbols on your ancestral altar??? How do you think they will feel about that?
Well, that immediately chucks 99% of my ancestors out of any possibility of having an altar in my home. They were, for generations, a bunch of vile, violent and hateful fundamentalists, religious fanatics and child abusers, so goodbye to that idea. However, if I want to connect to my pagan ancestors from one thousand years ago, why should that not be ok? I can choose to connect to whomever I want, there is no dogma in paganism and the only "musts" and "must-nots" are the rules that I decide to follow with my free will.
@@gaiagreen2690 Because those pagan ancestors are FAR removed from you. The ancestors closest to you were Christian’s for over a thousand years. Just because your parents or many recent ancestors were bad people does not negate the fact that you will have many many ancestors whom you never knew you were decent and are watching over you now. Only put pictures of ancestors on your shrine who you feel were good or have a connection with. When you pray at your shrine only ask to connect with those ancestors who were benevolent and have good will towards you. If you have no photos of any decent blood relatives then don’t put any photos. Just pray and call for the good ones - even if you don’t know their names.
@@wulfsorenson8859 🙄 And that is exactly what the comment you denigrated was all about, and yet you chose to condemn a person without any respect or understanding for their family history or their personal views, and to then issue a generalized attack on the entire nation because they were "tought to disrespect their roots" propaganda. No one here said that every single ancestor of theirs was bad, but everyone should be free to express their views of their private matters without being bullied, and to openly embrace or disregard ancient human values without being aggressively judged and disrespected. We come here to share our thoughts, to discuss matters, to support each other and to learn, not to have abusive political ideologies thrown at us. The comment was about a very healthy, mature and humane difficulty in knowing and dealing with the things some members of their families believed and did. Many of us are confronted and struggle with that. And if someone has difficulties in dealing with their past, then first attacking them and then offering baseless platitudes like "well, then work only with the good ones" is completely meaningless attacking and judging people according to your private beliefs and political ideas.
Once again, we have to look towards science to more clearly explain what is “Ancestor Magick”.
To begin, you are your ancestors and your descendants at the exact same time. Why? Because the DNA that you pass onto your descendants is the same DNA that was passed onto you. This small chain of amino acids are what connect humanity through time and space. To access your ancestor magick you need to be able to look into your own DNA for the memories you want to glean from whatever ritual you are doing. The rituals are meant to activate a key within you that brings about the encoded DNA’s purpose in you.
It usually takes practice and it takes time. Most people will read that they have a wide range of DNA within them from a number of cultures and pasts and that meditation is the best way to reach your former and future selves; much like activating the avatar state within yourself.
Ancestor veneration based on actual DNA connection and blood relations is only one possibility of what ancestral magick is and how it can be utilized. Magick is not limited by chemistry and the concept of an ancestor can be interpreted in many different ways. The same is with the notion of kinship, which may include biological family members (living or departed) but can be understood in a far broader way and along various premisses. So while the genetic connection may be powerful, millions of practitioners around the globe work majestic magick with ancestors who are regarded and venerated as true family, without having any blood connection with them at all.
Please make the Spiritualism video and please please please explain thr tecniques that Spiritualist Mediums used in Victorian Age to go in trance and incorporate spirits! Please! Thank youuuuu
The free school of magick Quareia begins with learning some meditations and then bowing to honor the generations of magicians who came before. This is daily a practice, established in the very first lesson.

The Calling of the Grey Wanderer
0 far traveling, Sky-Cloaked Wanderer From the far, ancient lands,
We call to you across mountain and forest, And the far, limitless grasslands;
We call to you across distant time,
And a hundred hundred slow turnings
Of the vast spindle of the sky.
We call to you in lands of mystery
Where ravens wheel in darkling skies,
And the far calling of wolves,
Echoing eldritch through crisp night wind, Brings close the strange far worlds
Where humankind never has trod.
We call to you beyond the distant icy tundra And the vast plains of snow
Beneath the unearthly rippling and flowing Of the dark northern skies' boreal lights,
To the golden gates of far Valhall
Where the shimmering bridge of rainbow Links the dark Middle Earth of men
With the shining realms of the Gods.
Come to us now and be with us here,
Great Odin!

Even the Orthodox Christian Church has its version of Ancestry work through the saints!
i use fossils as a way to connect to collective ancestry
most teens: i can’t wait to be an adult to buy alcohol for myself 😎😎
me: i can’t wait to be an adult so i can buy tobacco and alcohol for my ancestors
@Trinity M agreed! although i mostly dont know them at all as (thankfully) my grandparents are still alive, or they died before i was born. so idk their favourite foods. but i do know that most of them would’ve smoked c;
😄😄😄😄😄 Lovely!
Would you do a video on slavic magick?🌾💖🌷
About offerings... My grampa actually loved smoking. He love Cigarretes and Tobacco in general! Now the issue is he dyed of lung cancer! i am not quite sure if tobacco is a good offering for him and i would like to know what other people would do in this particular case!!! What would you do?
The same with my grandfather. Mine relished sipping whiskey, smoking cigarettes, and listening to baseball games on the radio all day. Though it did kill him, he loved it, and I will indulge him in the afterlife with his lifetime pleasures.
Could you do a video on Paschal Beverly Randolph and his influence on western Occultism?
I’m Zulu and In my culture we call upon our ancestors
I loved this video! I'm currently van life with my mom and grandparents ashes...I'm not sure what to do with them...I'm 99% I'm going to keep them with me...just want to keep them safe....feels good to have them with me :)
Love it!! 💜
Put the video on 0.75x speed
What kind of crystal is your crystal ball?
Is Georgina wearing a Mjolnir necklace?? :O
I thought the same thing at first, but when I boost the vid quality and zoom in it looks a little different.
May I ask what specific flavor Scandinavian folk dress yours wearing and if it relates to your ancestry? Or is it just a cute dress. I’m of Norwegian ancestry myself so that’s the main reason of my Curiosity. My guessing it’s kinda “ Danish” lol 🤔😁😉😂
"... and part-time center of pestilence" XD

Great video! I actually keep my ancestor alter near the front door of my home but in a place that’s not easy to reach. I keep it by my front door so my spirit can gate keep and jump intruders lololol.
Hey I need like a answer because I've been super anxious, ¿Why can't I haven't been able to summon angels since the first time I've seen them it? Like I literally did see them in 2 days that I started practicing Magick and Lbrp. I've invocated the angels by performing in my mind the lbrp and starting seeing a lot of random things obviously in my mind because I hyperfocus 24/7 in the things I get interested in and I became obsessed into learning about Magick because I have ADHD. It's been 1 month since I've last seen them in my mind, and also used to hear a voice that was guiding me into that and I've been getting sad for the reason that that was making me happy because almost nothing makes my happy.
¿Can anybody tell me if I've done something wrong?:( Please
Hi! Some people have said that after periods of increasing and increasing their energy work, they go from clearly seeing the magic to sort of "going blind". Damien Echols said this happened to him because the increase of energy in his system blew out his meridians (energy channels) as they weren't used to it. If you stop for a few days and recover, the "sight" may come back!
It could be something else but this is what I know of :)
A lot of times in magic we suddenly get very strong results doing something and then it fades away. Just keep at it, all that stuff is often a distraction from the real work you need to do.
@@mela5262 Yeah probably it's that, I need to rest my mind a little to be able to use it again in it's maximum capacity. Thank you;)
Another possibility is the what we call "lust for results." After a ritual, release the desires and intentions so that the magick can go out and do its thing. Just let it go, and go about your day. If you find that too difficult, then put yourself in the frame of mind that you already received what you wanted, and express gratitude.
Yes! All the heresy
I've been considering doing some ancestor work, this should be helpful.
At the least I want to ritualize having taken the name Annie... My deadname was a Jr, and I shared a first name with my grandfather(he had a different middle name), so I preserved some of that legacy by going with my great grandmothers name.
She passed in 1992, but a ritual honoring her for the name and for having been a living link to the old country(Scotland in her case, never met any of my other immigrant ancestors) it really seems appropriate to start with her.
I thought you liked omegle Ms Center of Pestilence
I'm of a Russian background...Would Vladimir the great be my ancestor?
Awesome Georgina!
I know that our ancestors were also women who bore children for the fallen angels. Therefore we have the divine in our bloodlines!
As a queer person, it's very important for me to recognize my queer ancestors, all those people who worked hard in the past to make life better for me today. We continue the work for future generations.
Off topic, what do you think bout amulets talisman and pendents especially pentacles of solomon or witchcraft
My issue with worshiping/revering/honoring my ancestors is that they were just human. Often really shitty humans. My ancestors specificity on my moms side were pilgrims and early American colonist. I’m absolutely ashamed of them, generally speaking. Horrible people who did horrible things.
But that’s the whole problem, just because someone was in your bloodline/history doesn’t make them worth my respect. I put no human being on a pedestal just because they came before me and now happen to be dead. I see no practical point in doing such other than to build a sense of self-importance within yourself. If you want to honor X ancestor in whatever way for whatever reason, that’s fine. But people who basically worship their whole bloodlines baffle me.
I know you said it’s not really worship, but that’s how it’s been described to me mostly by Norse pagans.
Your comment sums up why your country is rapidly collapsing. Cut off from your roots and conditioned to hate your ancestors who built your country you have brought ruin upon your heads and will soon be thrown into the dustbin of history.👎🏻
@@wulfsorenson8859 I have never heard such a nonsense in my life. Someone is being honest and describing how they reject the attrocities committed by their ancestors, which is a common problem for many of us, and you are completely ignoring the essence of their comment and instead charging on with completely bogus, abysmal doomsday prophecies, which suggest that one should embrace ancestral hatred, crimes and inhumanity? What gives you the right to judge other people's opinions and decisions about their own family and to issue baseless future predictions for entire nations? You yourself may disregard any morality, glorify violence and consider attrocities fine, but we are all free to hold and express our own opinions and values without being disrespected, verbally attacked, denigrated and insulted by fanatics who think they hold some kind of universal standard and the right to condemn whoever they want. Believing in the sanctity of every human life is now "being conditioned to hate one's ancestors?" Where did you get that imbecility from, Mein Kampf? Makebelieving we are some big, bad viking Rambo, aren't we? Unbelievable.
